Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Yes, the game is frustrating, and yes, regardless of clutch settings, the computer closes out games like Larry Bird.
But regardless of slider settings and tendencies, the Hawks are a good team, and for the Magic, a matchup nightmare. (at least on paper/2k ratings)
Al Horford missed time this season, but he was 3rd team All-NBA a year ago. Dwight shouldn't be able to overpower him like he can most centers. (Why 2K rewarded the 3rd best center in the NBA with yet another low OVR I'll never know)
Horford and Josh Smith give the Hawks a very athletic, very good, defensive inside presence, and Kirk Heinrich is good on that end as well, so Nelson and Dwight can't carry the team to the same extent that they usually can.
Joe Johnson is one of the most versatile, underrated scorers in the game, and he and Smith can create and exploit favorable mismatches with the ball in their hands. Combine that with decent AWR and Passing skills at other positions and they're a pretty dangerous team, especially for the Magic.
Maybe the Hawks should be impossible for the Magic to beat?Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Yes, but should Joe Johnson be shooting nearly 100% every game?
Should Al Horford be hitting contested fade away jumpers from near the 3 point line with routine efficiency?
Should Kirk Hinrich be driving the lane and dunking over Dwight Howard ala Michael Jordan?
Should Tracy McGrady be successfully defending Dwight Howard in the low post? (yes, I've seen this happen on multiple occasions.)
Should my guys be inexplicably missing wide open, A+ quality, perfect release shots from hot zones to a sub-40% shooting stat?
I just feel that user input has little to no bearing on the game, that when playing against the CPU, my stick skills, or basketball IQ mean nothing, because I can do everything possible to set up shots, exploit mismatches, and just generally play high quality basketball, but if the CPU doesn't want me to succeed, I will not succeed.
I can deal with "bad matchup", but the frustration comes when I'm watching as I take advantage of mistakes by the computer, only to not be rewarded because the "dice" rolled against me, and the shot wasn't gonna drop no matter what I did, meanwhile no matter what I do on the other end, there is literally nothing that can be done to stop the CPU. Kirk Hinrich is gonna go all LeBron James all over Dwight's face, and get the and-1 in the process, meanwhile the CPU can push my players out of bounds for turnovers, play the same interior defense that I play, but get shot blocks and turnovers out of it whereas when I play defense it is fouls and and-1's.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
It's not that I'm "losing to a better team" or a "matchup nightmare" that bothers me, it's the fact that I am essentially playing with a different set of rules than the CPU is.
Rules for CPU: A wide open shot is an automatic make
Rules for me: A wide open shot is still subject to court position (i.e.: hot / cold zone), release, and even if all of that lines up perfect, is still subject to a "dice roll" to determine whether the shot is good or not.
Rules for CPU: A contested jumpshot results in the criteria I face for a wide open shot, i.e.: hot / cold zones, release, and a "dice roll".
Rules for me: A contested jumpshot results in an automatic miss.
Rules for CPU: Driving the lane and putting up contested / blocked layups or dunks results in a foul, allowing the CPU to get the points from the line.
Rules for me: Driving the lane and putting up contested layups or dunks results in blocked shots or turnovers.
Rules for CPU: Isomotion results in my players shifting out of position giving the CPU an open lane to the basket.
Rules for me: Isomotion results in CPU bumping me off my path, often times pushing me out of bounds, and often results in dribbling the ball off my foot and out of bounds, or into the hands of the defense.
And as far as sliders go... sliders don't help me any when I absolutely destroy weak teams without any competition. I just don't like the rules of the game being changed because of the team I am playing against.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
I have no problems on defense on pro difficulty. In fact it's too easy. I only get scored on by the CPU drawing fouls or using the up n under. And I rarely leave my feet early. I just can't play this game on offense. Pick and rolls are very difficult to execute, the ai does a poor job of spacing, and the animations inside get blocked too easily. Im used to doing the euro step from 2k11 when I have good opportunities but I'll mix in hop step layups and my guy will just pull up instead.Student of the game. #Fundamentals

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Good advice in this thread but the bottom line is the computer cheats. Case in point shooting, When the computer gets a open 3, it drop in probably 9.5/10 as if they're freestyling in practice. As the User I have missed 4 open A rated 3pt shots in a row in a hotzone with Young having a 3pt rating over 90. Instead of rewarding us with a better AI, we simply get handicapped.
The only way to really beat the computer consistently is to cheese with a play, spin move dunk, etc. I have played almost perfect games but loss because open baskets simply wont fall.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
Thing is, I really don't know what to go to to cheese back.
I got like 2 moves, and they aren't 100%.
Dwight Howard spin move in the post, and Jameer Nelson running around the court back and forth until the defender gets screened just enough to give Nelson an open look.
But outside of those 2 guys is a crapshoot.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
I play with a mixture of Sim World and Truegamer's sliders .. I changed up the shooting though USER and CPU
Shot Inside 55
Shot Close-48
Shot Medium-49
Shot Three- 45
Maybe 85% of my shots are in the paint I would also advise you to do that and leave the perimeter alone.Comment

Re: I need help with 2K12 - BAD
ive used redlogics sliders and truegamers sliders and they both make the game play much better. you'll have to tinker around with the shooting sliders though, those really depend on your skill level. i personally put my 3 point shooting and mid range at 49 because i feel i make it too often on 50 and miss too many easy shots on 48.Comment
