Re: NBA 2K13 - Let's Talk About NBA Authenticity, Artistic Improvements

Regarding Jennings' hair, he wore about 9 unique hairstyles in his rookie season:

The one in the game they chose to use was probably not worn in a game, but rather the summer he celebrated his 21st birthday. I can't find a pic, but notice the "21" carved into one side.

Having said that, I really commend 2K for going with a unique look, and something similar to something Jennings used previously. They did a really good job on his cyberface, in my opinion, considering how it looked his rookie and sophomore seasons.

The answer, of course, would be to allow the user to change his hairstyle, but that's a wishlist item for another year...

I'm not comparing arenas to one another, nor am I comparing 2K7 to newer versions. I quoted someone else's post and commented.

I just think the arenas look a bit dark is all.

"Jon Robinson: Does he look like you in “NBA 2K12”?

Brandon Jennings: A little bit. I don’t like the hairstyle they gave me and they never put Under Armour shoes on me, but, hey, it is what it is. [Laughs.]"

They said last year that they would finally be able to update player's hairstyles through roster updates... what ever happened to that?

All of them need to be fixed. Hopefully the art team will finally step up next year with live 13 player faces looking accurate for the most part.
Andrew Bynum (fixed last year), Cousins, Lowry, Rose and Anthony (fixed last year) all look fine. Maybe Rose or Lowry could be touched up, but overall nearly all those players have okay cyberfaces. Blake Griffin has a different cyberface for the 2nd year in a row, but I don't understand why when his model was fine in 2K12. They could added a beard or gave his cyberface "curly" hair. Instead of worrying about guys that look fine or passable (like your list), instead I'd prefer they update different players looks that are outdated (Vince Carter, Matt Bonner & Tyson Chandler) and improve inaccurate looking players (Norris Cole, Iman Shumpart, Chris Paul & Chandler Parsons)

Player accessories may have improved, which would make it 4th or 5th year in a row, but we don't know because we haven't seen the game. They don't need to add much, yet adding more variety in knee sleeves, knee pads (size and length of items) and different combinations of accessories. Most player looks can be duplicated in 2K12 (and probably 2K13).

People need to stop whining and asking - sounds more like begging to me - for changes when the game is going gold soon. Check what they've done and haven't done with 2K13 and compile a list for 2K14. Then start a thread earlier and give good examples with photographic examples and hopefuly they'll improve most things. From looking at the MyCareer video, and liking the AJ's shown on the CAP & Jordan, I believe to has continued to make improvements. We'll see......

So, he's saying that the cyberface is pretty good, but his hairstyle is "bad," and that his Under Armour shoes - which weren't licensed to be in 2K12 - aren't on his feet. He's a known endorser of NBA Live, so I'd take his opinion with a grain of salt. Still like Jennings and his kicks will mostly be in 2K13.

Only shoe brands that have no representation are Peak, Anita, Li-Ning (all three are mostly available only in China), Ballin', And 1, 341° Degrees & Above the Rim. Hoping we can recreate similar looking shoes for the athletes endrosing those brands or just give them different smaller brand shoes.

I wasn't disputing if the cyberfaces were accurate or not the majority of the players are accurate, but lowry and rose have the same cyberfaces as last year and imo they don't look anything like their real life counterparts, my issue was players not being updated, which I should have said. Like how you pointed out Blake not having his curly hair. I don't understand the part about the game going gold, but imo the game looks more realistic than live 13, and the fact that the game is already graphically impressive, just frustrate some of us who can't figure out why 2k isn't getting the "little things" right. It's far from being a game breaker to me, because gameplay is what matters, but 2k just needs to make their game visually accurate so we can feel like we are watching a NBA game. It's apart of the presentation.

Sorry to bump this just saw the response.

What? If that looks like rose to you then, good for you. But imo that doesn't look like him, and this picture is one of the first screenshots, so he may be fixed in the retail version.

If anyone mentioned this already then sorry. But fix bulls red. 2k gives bulls "pinkish" colors for jerseys and court. Real Bulls Red: 2nd - Fix created player models. I want to be able to create a player that LOOKS like an actual person. Anyone ever notice how everyones created player has the same features no matter how you make them? They all end up looking kinda the same. This is one of 2k's most hyped modes, yet the actual feature of creating your player is terrible. Not to mention the fact they all look like porcelain dolls. It's even better playing with these models in association with the generated rookies. (exaggeration) I think it's fair to ask for created player models that look like actual people. And if you compare any created player to a real nba player model in the game, they look way off from one another.

I always wonder, why can't they fix the Bulls colorway, haircuts, beards, headband placement? When it's easy to do on a PC. They can add shoes to 2k so wouldn't they also be able to add the correct colorway for the Jordans already placed there? Add haircuts in create-a-player?
