Re: NBA 2K13 Video - Developer Insight #1 - Gameplay: Part 1
It hasnt been talked about.
But due to their past history of dropping insights and Ronnie saying it will be a "Huge Next 3 Weeks", I expect one this week. Maybe might be Gameplay part 2 or Audio or Presentation. It will most likely between Weds-Friday.
The good thing about the way 2k drops insights is that when they do drop them they usually drop them weekly.Comment

I
If I were to defend that clip, I am not really sure if Granger was slidling into position to help out Augustin. If you really look at the clip you see #4(dont know his name) for Grizz move near Conley behind the 3pt line. Granger went under the screen and kept his eyes on #4. Yeah he gets closer to Conley, but he is covering #4 who got close to Conley.Comment

Lol. Sliding is the antithesis of realistic. But I can deal with a little of it if it's toned down from last year and it's minimized on ball. The sliding in the video is pretty mild for a 2K game, and way better than what we saw in the E3 video.Comment

Sliding = not having intertia in players movement = players don't defend like in realityComment

That's not entirely true. If it was something that was easily fixed in video games you wouldn't see it but you do see it in all 3d games. Noone complains about it in other games like Call of Duty or whatever but i's still there. What we know so far about NBA 2K14 - FAQ/QA:

Its a video game -- Newton's Laws do not apply lol. I'm cool with a little sliding as well, as long as its realistic.#WashedGamerComment

Well, nhl 13 and pes 2013 try to recreate momentum/inertia. Nba2k has it till some extent, but sliding kills it. In sport games I think inertia is very important. I know it is a videogame, but it is going to be a must in the future - like better IA, real physics, etc.Comment

As long as 2K continues to improve their animation system while retaining the ability to distinguish individual players via distinct player animations (and attributes) I FAR MORE prefer that system than some generically animated game where most players move the same way.Last edited by spankdatazz22; 08-13-2012, 09:10 AM.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

I couldn't be happier about the control stick change. I've spent the past 5 seasons saying "damn i wish 2k would just steal the control scheme from Live", and finally they just ate a little, tiny piece of crow and did the right thing. It is really funny to hear them try and explain it though, like it's some new, intuitive idea rather than a time tested classic. Either way, this has pretty much sold me on the game, after I was almost dead set on taking this season off. Excellent work 2k, other than the Jay Z soundtrack of course, that kills me.Comment

Apples and oranges imo, focusing on what's more technical versus what's more practical. I can't say definitively but I feel safe saying neither of those games has anywhere near the level of complexity the animations in NBA2K has. Some of you are complaining about something that's moving in hyper-slow motion that the naked eye probably wouldn't notice. Either way we won't know until we see full gameplay video.

I want to see how this really effects the shot stick. Shots like step backs spinning lay-up and dunks, hop step dunks, euro lay-ups and up and under's.The Buzz is Back in the Queen City. Cho........I have no idea what you are going to do in this draft man.Comment

I am waiting to see them explain about the speed issue fixed. It should be in the Gameplay #2 Insight(maybe this week or next). I dont want to see players chase down people on FB unless they are faster than them.
My main concern with Speed this year is that I hope we can press it without the CPU being triggered into to sliding. That is the main reason that PNR wasnt good. As soon as you pressed turbo and went around the pick, the opposing big man would slide right in front of you to bump you backComment
