    Re: NBA 2K13 Signature Skills -- Confirmed Additions vs Speculated Additions

    It was my biggest worry when these things came out. I think people are missing the crux of what these skills should do. I mean, Post skill? 3pt shooting? It's redundant.

    What next, Dribbling? These things should be reserved for subsets within that rely on multiple factors or qualities that affect the team. I think a skill that should exist is the Spark Plug, the guy that comes off the bench (must come off the bench) that provides energy and raises everyone else's hustle and maybe clutch. Could also make the crowd cheer louder cuz they feed off his energy. I can think of about 5 dudes like that off the top of my head.

      Some of the skills will be redundant they already have a few example ankle breakers are guys with high dribble ratings or defense specialist/ on ball defender will have high on ball defense ratings. The guess is how many redundant skills they put in that is already in a rating tendency or ability

      I also think post defender will make the list but I had to cut it down

        Yeah, some of them wouldnt be necessary. Like you said 3pt, Dribbling, Post, Mid Range, because there are already ratings for them and dont want to be automatic/powerful.

        I would like/think it will be Spark Plug. Doesnt have to be scoring like you said. It could be providing good plays, drawing fouls, hustling, setting picks.

          I guess they did that so they could make guys really stand out compared to other players.

          I dont mind Lockdown Defender or even possibly Post Defender because last year it didnt matter how high a players on ball or post D, most of the times good/high dribble/post moves would beat them out

            I always find it hilarious each year when the first hands on and previews appear, talking about all the amazing "changes", only for everything to be shot down later on.

            Also, it's equally hilarious when the "journalists", each year, never seem to ask why the game had so many flaws the previous year. For example, when 2K started talking for the players' ratings in the verge preview, they didn't even dare to ask them why the ratings are so bad each year, making the game unplayable for serious players, unless they use a roster file.

            Each year its a new low for the audience and the "journalists."

              Oh wow #NBA2K13 players have signature skills now designated with icons. Hints at clutchness, finisher, gets hot quick, sharpshooter"

              The only one I dont really mind is sharpshooter and maybe clutchness. But, that is what clutch, consistency, shoot in traffic is for. It seems like there might be some that may not be necessary. But, I am not complaining as long as they arent too powerful

                Unless there are a good number of quality animations that only get triggered through the use of skills, I'm leaning towards not using most of these at all. Maybe a handful of players in the league would deserve these skills in ways that can't be represented through ratings. Chase Down Block is the only "skill" thus far that isn't accurately done with animations in 2K12.

                Seeing bench warmers with 2-3 skills just makes me shudder to think at how arcade-like this could become. As always, the roster configuration will determine the good/bad that comes from this new option.

                  Re: NBA 2K13 Signature Skills -- Confirmed Additions vs Speculated Additions

                  After watching the vids and tweets;
                  So far, I am guessing we have 13-18(plus some that I cant see) confirmed skills. the original 10 plus Anchor, Flex Arm/Strength, Finisher, Clutch, Get Hot Quick/Streaky Shooter, Sharpshooter. Since Collison has 2, one of them has to be hustle.

                  So-
                  -Defensive Anchor
                  -Finisher
                  -Get Hot Quick/Streaky Shooter
                  -SharpShooter
                  -Hustle
                  -Clutch

                  Durant and Westbrook has 5 Sig Skills(as expected), Perkins/Ibaka/Harden has 3, and Thabo and Collision has 2

                  Perkins has brick wall, an anchor, and a flexed arm. Ibaka has Anchor too. It is hard to make out the skills.

                    If I dont DL a roster set before I start a career mode, I will make sure I check the skills of each player I start.

                      The flex arm is probably HARD FOUL or ENFORCER. Remember, these are suppose to be skills that can't be quantified on a large scale.

                          Nothing has been confirmed yet as far as how Signature Skills will work in My Player and Association modes.
                          According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.

                              A few Milwaukee Bucks players id like to see with the sig traits
                              Brandon Jennings = Ankle Breaker
                              Monta Ellis = Streaky Shooter (can get hot & score 40)
                              Mbau Moute = Lockdown defender
                              Dalembert = defensive anchor
                              Mike Dunleavy = spot up shooter
                              Ersan Ilyasova = offensive glass trait/ 2nd chance
                              John Henson = rim protector
                              Larry Sanders = Hacking trait (fouls a lot lol)
                              Udoh = Strength

                                I think it's up to 5 trait per players. Only the beasts get 5 though.
