I also don't see how this adds anything to the discussion. All you've done is been insulting, and I assume, trying to bait insults from myself or the other fellow.

What I will tell you is you cannot insult me, either directly or insinuation. What you could do is actually address my points.

You know, it's was supposed to serve as one of those "Snap out of it" slaps in the face. It wasn't meant to just insult - just get your attention. You guys are going off about stuff that you have NO idea about. You're extrapolating HEARSAY to the point where you're worried about stuff that hasn't even happened it.

But my position has been summed up pretty well by others already. Just letting you know the intent of my post.

i think as long as VC keeps the same people in charge the series is in good hands (Wang, Jones, Boenisch). Consistent leadership with consistent vision leads to a consistently good product. Once the "torch is passed" to new leadership, there's no telling what direction they will take the game in. Hopefully when the usual suspects are ready to hang it up (which hopefully isn't for a long time) they will vet their replacements and they will be worthy successors.

i think 2k12 was just an off year for VC, and i'm looking at it as a fluke unless they prove otherwise. there's no telling what was going on behind the scenes at VC last year...2k12 just didn't feel totally refined and finished to me. maybe they didn't have the same man power or time investment on 2k12 that they usually do...maybe the lockout was a factor. who knows. either way, 2k13 looks like the refined product that we have come to expect from VC.

anyway, sucks there are no Czar videos this year. hopefully he'll have something for us though.

Agreed about the leadership. 100% Even if those guys move on, some faith in the guys that hired THEM will know what to look for in replacements. It's quite possible those people are already there.

2K12 was a clearly a transition year. Many lower level systems were re-written. We all know about online. That's just one example. New ideas were attempted and I'm sure they were not completely fleshed out. But I know this - 2K12 WAS better than 2K11. It addressed issues that were in 2K11 and no one can deny that. It just didn't make the leap from 2K11 that 2K11 did from 2K10. It was a victim of expectation and I'm dead certain it was going to be "hated on" automatically.

As for Czar. Like I said before - the man is HIGHLY respected by 2K. He has tight connections within. I'm sure he will get a copy early enough to give us SOMETHING.

Czar's videos helped make 2k12 a better experience for me then if I did not see them. The 2k12 gameplay (to me personally) was equal but different from 2k11 ... both versions had their +'s and -'s.

The difference maker was the willingness to adapt - once I sat down and accepted the fact that I was going to need to adapt, then Czar's videos helped make the overall experience much better and acceptable.

My hope is that Czar will go through my favorite teams (Lakers, Wolves, Sonics :wink eventually, and help me realize more then I would on my own. His effort and time spent is much appreciated even if I don't speak of that appreciation often.

I also noticed that last year he really failed to come through for 2k. The whole thing was it was ten teams in ten days and then the game would come out.

Buuuuut he missed a couple of days something about his wife being pregnant or some such I really don't remember. Anyways he missed like two or three teams and made it up a couple of days later.

It sucked and maybe they were very unhappy with that.

this has been an interesting thread. I have learned alot reading the post. I agree with the point that they are not as transparent as they use to be. Sales skyrocketed after 11 and I guess marketing priorities shift for a business.

I will admit that I got spoiled with the wealth of information that 2k has provided since 11. I thought that the Da Czar created videos actually helped sales. In reality it helped a small percentage of the sim nation. Maybe that is why they nixed it. I guess their marketing approach actually worked in hindsight with momentous, allstar trailer, livestream, community team up program etc.

They were able to effectively target a larger audience of the casual market. I just hope that 2k is not turned off by the constant nitpicking about accessories, headband placement etc. that this forum sometimes present. It would be a real shame if they felt that way.

Well - I'm sold on how 2k's marketing has somehow ditched the loyal consumer, the sim gamer, the guy who does nothing but worship any piece of junk they release and has indeed gone for the casual gamer.

I hope this is an attempt at sarcasm. Family always takes importance over constructing demonstration videos of video game hoops if that was the case. I'm sure 2k would not hold that against him...

I know i'm just preaching to the choir here because you've obviously been active on these forums for quite some time, but the fact is, people just like to bitch for the sake of bitching.

If it's not gameplay, then it's a missing/tweaked game mode. If it's not a game mode, it's Lebron's friggin' headband placement, or too many generic shoes. And on, and on, and on...

It's almost as if people think that forking over $60 means they're entitled to complain about every single insignificant detail. Don't get me wrong, i'm all for some constructive criticism, as it can only help improve a product. And obviously in America (and most of the world), you have every right to say just about anything, but seriously people, can't we just show a little gratitude for a quality product and all the work that goes into creating it?

I actually went googling for DaCzar and found this thread.

Consider me bummed. I'd watch his videos at work and would literally sit here for the rest of the day just aching to get home and apply some of his knowledge.

Great video game knowledge and great hoops knowledge.

It really sucks that NBA 2K went toward the way of the Casual Gamer. Just as I was getting into basketball too, NBA 2K11 was so awesome and now it is all about Jay-Z and gimmicks.
