I changed the sliders in association mode and still received VC.

Its sad really....2K has went the way of EA with VC crap. I remember when 2K cared about its customers and had their best interest in mind(See NFL2K5 being $20 brand new). Now its just pump out games, remove game modes, add fluff and other things to try and get people to spend more money...kind of like EA.

Quitting "My Player"for a while
I invested a ton of playing to build up "my player" and suddenly I stuck offline with no option to earn VC. Not going to play that mode and will just stack VC through regular playing until all the bugs are worked out.
This is my first time buying 2k on release. I usually wait a month or so until a good patch is release, you live and you learn.Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
It's BS how hard VC is to get. It's clear they're making it so hard just to get money off of us. Like I win an online blacktop 3v3 game, and that's enough to add one point to my point forward's quickness rating.Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
The problem with VC as it pertains to MC is that MC from a player creation and player development standpoint is done poorly.
There shouldn't be these cookie cutter templates that can't be adjusted. Players basically are who they are coming into the league as far as physical skills. Guys naturally getting stronger and occasionally improve in certain physical aspects. In MC players make complete transformations of not only skill but physical ability. This is the case because 2K forces you to start off so physically inept than charge so much skill points, virtual currency, etc to get physical abilities you should start your career with. You looking at the Chair MAN!
Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
Yeah once you switch it's a permanent switch, which thankfully I didn't choose when the server was down all day yesterday. I have no idea why you can't trade in your skill points for VC, makes no sense why 2k didn't include this option when they know their servers aren't the most reliable. I don't want to be dependent on 2k's servers in order to enjoy a predominantly offline game mode and enjoy that game mode in its entirety. So I feel for you man, hopefully they fix this in a patch.Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
If you play you "online career" that collects vc offline it converts it to an "offline career" that collects skill points. I don't think you can convert it back. It asked me before i played offline and i declined.
My problem with vc is that its easier to get points outside of the mode you need them for. I can play exhibition games and get 260 coins a game on 5 mins with a win but if i play my player 12 mins i usually get only about 100. That's horrible.
And the fact that in order to match my team i have to buy a separate arm sleeve if i go to a different team? I have to pay 5000 for a pistons sleeve, which it'll take me 500 games to get, and if i get traded or sign with a new team I'll have to do it again? I'm playing my entire career for arm sleeves and headbands? Oh and that expensive arm sleeve gives me a three point boost, or i can just take that 5000 and max out my three point stats and some other stuff. Decisions, decisions. Oh yeah, and with my NBA pay check i can... buy socks maybe?
Just finished my fifth game and signed with Jordan so at least now i can trash these old beat up sneakers and where some good shoes.
Wow that sucks.
Yesterday I was playing and was disconnected, I knew that I wouldn't be getting VC since I know it goes into the servers to save how much VC you have. So I just turned my xbox off right there not to risk it.
Looks like if you disconnect while playing myplayer just turn off your xbox. (unless it is saving and then by then you are too late.)Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
I figure the best and most sane way is to play Online games with your friends and no quitting.
Anyone want a game on PS3?

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
I've spent a lot of time with this game this weekend and this 'VC' crap is really annoying. The amount I get for completing games is too low, even key games I'm lucky to get more than 200 pts. I don't like how they removed drill bonuses either. And I'd really like to know who gave the green light to make accessories like headbands cost VC.
Myplayer has been a grind and not rewarding to play at all so far.Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
My thing is, the NBA Stars should already be unlocked on blacktop. Now I understand My Team, but blacktop?
Guess I will have to play online all time from now on lol.Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
We should earn much more money from online games. I suggest 500 VC per game (if you win). Right now I'm at 7th seed in MyTeam, and my team salary is 100VC, meaning I only earn 150 a game. THAT'S BARELY ANYTHING (and I have all bronze level players with 4 of them having a sig skill). I'm basically forced to try to exploit the game to get VC from other means (I haven't played more than 2 MyPlayer games because of the play vision glitch) and I haven't made an association for a long time.
That and reduce the damn prices of things.
Other games that have micro transactions like Uncharted 3 make it easy to acquire new weapons by buying them, but getting them in game is just a matter of playing a couple games. It seems like 2k is trying t force us into buying VC because just playing the game to get it is far too longComment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
You should get more when you win, simple as that. +10 is it?
I don't mind the grind for VC, because all I use it for is MyTeam and MyPlayer for online blacktop. I wouldn't buy any accessories, clothes, etc. until you got your player where you want him. IMO the best way to have fun and get VC is play 3v3 blacktop. You get 160 if you win and the games only last 15 minutes or so.
I enjoy the grind though. I don't like being able to max out my player when the game hasn't even been out a week.Comment

Re: Virtual Currency frustration
Seems to me that 2K is going along with the EA Madden mindset: "LOL! No competition AT ALL for three years running?! LMAO! Let's do the Madden thing in a similar way they do Ultimate Team, but make this thing called Virtual Currency. Yo, dawg, you know how our consumers love player accessories? Let's add different 'thangs' in Virtual Currency and give them an option to spend their hard earned money on silly things like shoe strings, wrinkles on player headbands, ripples on their wristbands and long shorts that are tight in the behind with the possibility of seeing a player's butt crack. That be nice, yo. Our customers will be handing us money for those monster features, mane!"
Oh lawd. I'm glad I've maintained the willpower to hold out so far this year (trust me, it won't last and I'll end up getting it at $35-$40) Yes, I realize that I'm going to get flamed and welcome all the e-shotguns that are about to be verbally pumped. I miss the days when there were 3-4 football games, and 3-4 basketball games (2K, Live, Sony's game (Shootout?) and Microsoft's game -- NBA Inside Drive). Selection and choices.Comment
