Re: Stop Buying Virtual Currency, please

The whole VC layout reminds me of NBA Street Volume 3...in terms of buying accessories for your "my player" or for other players to use in blacktop mode...V3 was also very stingy in handing out VC for winning games.

They should have little bonus objectives like "make 3 shots in a row" to earn a xtra 100 VC.

But as far as paying cash to dress up my virtual doll, I don't do it, but don't have an issue with those who do. While I "wish" games didn't go down this road to nickel and dime various aspects of the game, the truth is they will probably continue to do so...

Re: Stop Buying Virtual Currency, please

All this whining and crying about virtual currency and it's not going to go away. This is the direction video games are going and the demographic of people who won't pay for VC versus those who will is small.

Does it make all of you feel better to get on the Internet and voice your opinion about those who do buy it are "morally wrong" and are "the reason companies are doing this now"?

Man, get over it. Trade in the freaking game if it makes you that upset. Whining on a message board is not going to kill this cash cow 2k has invested in. All of you who are crying about all of these new features will buy the game next year, I promise.

The best thing about threads like these are the people crying about the people crying.

Touche.... though it gets old seeing 25 different threads about how much everyone hates VC.

In myteam mode. I bought a golden box for 1500 and they gave me a marcin gortat who is worth 15000. I sold him and bought Gerald green and 3 more golden boxes...you don't have to buy VC.

Re: Stop Buying Virtual Currency, please

Most of us don't hate the buying of VC, we hate the fact that the prices are too high and earnings are too low. Thus 2k almost all but forces you to buy VC.

If you can afford to spend a little extra cash and buy VC, more power to you. And I actually have too. But I don't want to be forced into it...If i want to instead play the game and earn VC the old fashioned way for a little while, I want it to be a legitimate method.

Earning VC by playing is not efficient or feasible at all at this point. That's where my concern is imo. I don't hate all of you people that have extra money, not enough time and thus you bought some VC. I hate the fact the 2k has made buying VC with real money a primary source of VC, and earning it the alternative, when it should be the other way around.

Tried that. Got two home courts (valued at 50 each!) and Doc Rivers who is 100. So I spent 1500 for 200 value. Awesome.

That's ok. It will take my 5 minutes to get that VC back anyway

I think it's unfortunate, but I do believe you're pretty correct when you suggest micro-transactions won't be going away in gaming. With that said, I still think it's worthwhile for those in opposition to voice their opinions. Perhaps there are bigger avenues upon which to voice that displeasure, but here's not a bad start. I certainly think it's better than having a large issue with a product you own and remaining quiet.

Through the years, I think NBA 2K's always had their own business plan, regardless of consumer feedback. However, I also believe they've looked to capitalize in certain situations upon what they heard their consumers wanted. In this case, perhaps 2K could look at threads like these and vow not to care one single bit. But at least there's a chance they'll be able to realize we're not all pumped about their new system. Sometimes I feel silence, even in areas where we feel it may not matter either way, may create a false sense of affirmation.

if you pay 60+ dollars for a product you have the right to complain. The amount of irony in your post is even worse.

I wish I could join your debate about those VC ****. But hey, I'm just a poor PC gamer. In my version of the game, there is no virtual curreny, no my team mode and no people who spend money for virtual things.

So anybody who got a problem with people spending money on VC, give me your console and I'll give you my PC version. I would be happy, if there would be any people on my platform, spending money for this VC ****, because then, I would have all game features!

WAIT... You have to go to MyTeam Mode to buy the golden box? What's golden box? Does it always give you something that's worth 10000+? How do you sell stuff?

I really don't see the problem.

If you want incentive to play My Player...well here ya go.

Why do you expect to unlock everything in the 1st week of release?

Why care if someone used real $$ to buy VC? Yeah, it's a shortcut, but that option remains there for you and it still is OPTIONAL.

Accessories for your my player IS fluff.

My Team IS fluff (this mode didn't even exist b4 2K13).

I will take this new system over the straight up hackers who would be a 99 overall on day 1 of release or the 40 ft giants my players who corrupted crew and pickup.

You'd make a great EA exec.

You know, there used to be a time when Madden would sell 7+ million copies easy and now, after years of not listening to their customers, it struggles to break the 4 million barrier across two online enabled platforms. M13 hasn't even hit the 1 million mark on the PS3 yet. When consumers complain, it's in every companies best interest to listen.

I mean you're saying it's not a feasible method to do it the old fashioned way but that's because you're expecting to have everything available now instead of realizing "hey, I'm gonna be playing this game all year so there'll be plenty of time to rack up VC."
