the ONLY problem i have with passing.... ok the only two problems i have with passing are:

1. When using X (ps3) button to pass, the target man usually moves (creating turnovers) for example.. I run with the trailblazers, whenever i try to pass to Batum or Matthews in the corner for an open 3, i hit X and they cut to the basket simultaneously... WTF

2. Passing while in the paint... those BS passes from a guard through 2 or 3 defenders to a big... that doesnt happen.. (im guilty of it too, but im trying not to abuse it) ie.... Chris Paul and either Blake or DeAndre

Im content with the direct passing, although i wish it were easier to make flare passes to the corner after a back screen or to catch a defender cheating.

This, there are some problems with passing but it has nothing else is wrong besides some twerky things. I don't want to come off as attacking anyone in anyway so please don't take offense to this but if you have watched basketball, there are certain passes that have higher percentages than others. Most people don't realize this, passing the ball from one wing to the other wing isn't a very high percentage pass. In 2k, the lower percentage the pass is, the harder it is to catch and complete the pass. A higher percentage pass is something like a pass from the top of the key to the wing. Those passes are rarely dropped in 2k and often are used in successful offense.

Now all of this isn't to say DON'T THROW A SKIP PASS! No, exactly the opposite, if Kevin Durant for example is wide open on the opposite wing and you have the ball you pass the ball there. But if there is a defender on Durant on the opposite wing, it's very unlikely he will catch the ball successfully there. Basketball is about angles and percentages, when passing, if you take the high percent pass rather than the low percent risky pass your chances of being successful on an offensive possession increase greatly. Again this isn't attacking anyone at all and I hope no one takes any offense to this but you have to think a little in basketball and I think 2k did a good job with it this year. Yes there are some glitches in player movement on occasion but if you make good passes the times that those wonky things happen decrease.

Go back to 2K11 passing and tone the CPU reaction time a little bit. They make you do the dumbest passes.

2K11's passing wasn't as good as this.

Appreciate that man. One other point is when was the last basketball game that anyone can recall where 100% of all passes made were on target, completed and successful? Of course that's rhetorical. NBA players make mistakes -- therefore players in a video game should also make mistakes -- if a player drops an open pass every once an a while, it's not the end of the world.

Another thing I wish 2K would fix: I pass the ball to a sprinting player on a fastbreak or lead pass and the player will catch the ball, stop on a dime (impossible) then shoot a jumper. In actuality it should have been a layup or dunk animation.

Damn frustrating when that happens. Would be nice if we could pass in front of a player on a fastbreak like a through ball in soccer. I cringe everytime i have a fastbreak oppurtunity and am forced to reset and miss out on what should be a easy two. And that animation where the guy recieving the pass sticks one hand out behind him to catch the ball is just ugly.

I get that people abused the fastbreak in previous titles but now it feels to much of a task to pull one off unless you are using one of the top sides.

Only bounce passes reach quickly and you're up against Kicked Ball violations and turnovers when that happens. There should really be a quick pass like holding RT when passing since holding LT makes it bounce off the floor.

Why would you want touch passing in MyCareer? It's only asking for trouble...

Touch passing should be used in MyCareer just as it is used in the NBA and (hopefully) any other mode in 2k.

It is a great way to quickly transfer the ball from one side of the perimeter to the other, without trying a cross-court pass that is more likely to be bobbled and even stolen.

Touch passing is an excellent way to get your teammates their touches and it is a really effective means of extending momentum -especially to a hot teammate.

At times, I am as frustrated as anyone with passing, but in my humble opinion it is better then it has been in a couple of years. I personally detest icon passing, because in my mind it equates to playing a mini-game within the game, and it takes away from the flow and natural feel that should be equated with passing.

passing has been really terrible since 2k11. It improved slightly this year, but i find it hilarious when people say "yeah well it's better than last years" That's like saying the crap i took today is better than the one i took yesterday, it's still crap lol. But seriously the passing is so fundamentally unsound and broken. One of the worst aspects of the game IMO. This is something that needs to be focused on as much as rebounding.

The only 2 problems I have with passing are slow passes and lobs, Times you do catch the D off guard your guard will throw a super slow floating kind of pass that gives the D time to recover. i wish there was a way to throw bullet passes which would also allow you to thread the needle easier as well(only for like above average passers or players maybe? Lebrons, Nash,Rondo,CP3, Rubio etc)

as for Lobs they are too low line drive, when I throw up a lob and it's a 2 on 1 and he steps up into me, I should lob it above the guys arms especially if it's a smaller guard, I shouldn't have to much of a problem throwing a simple lob over him. Too often they do this fading back jump and can knock it down, Not saying lobs should be 100% but under right circumstances I should complete them more often than not

2K11 didn't have bounce passes and couldn't pass to a big man in post position, unless he was already being bodied up. Also, everyone and their mother could throw an alley-oop, regardless of whether they had a good pass rating or not. Directional passing was as bad as it now. Lead passing was unrealistic because the receivers got unrealistic speed bursts when catching the ball.

It would help if you would actually explain why you think 2K11's passing was better.

I do about 30% icon passing and 70% RS passing. My RS passes have more zip and dont get tipped as often.

Off-ball movement for passes feels wonky at times this year. Good shooters open on the wing suddenly jumping into traffic, pick and pop shooter running past the open spot into traffic, and open players down in the paint running away from the hoop.

RS Passing is better than A button passing by a good deal and usually more accurate. It's a little more cumbersome to use but passes do have a tad more velocity than the usual A button passing(still not fast enough).

I mostly just Icon pass i don't have a problem with it other then my some players on my team not standing still when i pass it to them
