Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Here's how I rank the teams. I think that's what you were asking for? Definitely the first four teams as of the last roster update on 2-2 or 1-30. Can't remember which. The rankings fluctuate depending on the changes they make to the current rosters. Where do you live? Are you a fan of that team? I'd start there.
I enjoy matching up against guys from the hometown. Now if you are from LA. You'll have lots of company. I might think outside the box then if you want to take a non elite team.

Cool. I'm looking at the Nets. Just wanted to make sure they aren't too good.Comment

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
A guy in my league could probably run the table with them...lol. I don't know if anyone is hurt right now that might have dropped them down but definitely run with them.
Honestly there is no good or bad squad to decide on. It's easier to win the higher up the list you go.
What's most important is using the team in such a way that when you beat people with them, the were satisfied in the manner in which they got beat. It's a hard task.
Most people play a team the way they want to play and the higher rated players can play any number of play styles. The key is to use whatever players you have, all of them, the way they are designed to be used.
Sreckless manages to accomplish that task with the Celtics. One of the best things about his play. Earning respect with it.Last edited by Coach2K; 02-06-2013, 10:17 PM.For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
My 2nd game with the Raptors also resulted in a loss. This time we played the Cavs, and record-wise we are even at 20W-40L.
The Cavs led at half 59- 51 and they ended up winning 111 - 99. I was matched up against Waiters and Gibson during the first half, and in the second half, the coach switched me and Lowery and matched me against Irving and Pargo at the point guard.
I ended up with a double-double, but this game, with us behind wire-to-wire I found myself pushing too much. Instead of waiting for an opening I tried to force passes inside a lot.
This game was not as fun as my last, but I recognized an issue to work on in future games. (the forcing of passes).Comment

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Won 7 in a row. Was down 14 and had to scratch and claw my way back. Did everything I could to force turnovers, pressure up the court trying to get a violation or force them to make a bad pass, trying to steal the pass they needed to make to start their play, and double teaming when it made sense, mostly when the shot clock is going down or when a big comes out to set a pick I'll just double with my big. I try to keep them from running their plays. I was up big at the end and starting screwing around so I think my FG% would have been higher and their's lower--I'll try not to do that if it happens again to see if I can hold a team under 50%.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
I changed up the order again from what C2k and Knick9 are doing. I'm using a roster from the beginning of the year so all the teams have all their regular players. (and so that I still have Rondo). The Wolves were a little too feisty for me since they still had Love, Roy, etc.
So I took on the Bobcats, who are the 29th-ranked roster according to the game's rankings.
If the goal was to get realistic-looking stats, IMO that is pretty close. Score should've been about 110-100 but it got a little high because they started pressing at the end and I couldn't help doing this:

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Hope this isnt as big as my last post. Anyways i decided I was just gonna use the team im a fan of ,even though they are good, the San Antonio Spurs. Game was typical spurs style. Close first half(55-55), make adjustments at half (reddick was getting open after open shot, stopped that), gain big lead by end of 3rd (90-73), played alittle sloppy in 4th but was able to hold on to win.
This was so much better to do this then playing a team i didnt follow that well.Attached FilesLast edited by stlpimpmonsta; 02-07-2013, 02:11 PM.Comment

Good three-point shooting. I read a post earlier that said that users can't get three-pointers on HoF difficulty. I think the evidence in this thread shows that you can.
Here's my latest game, against the Cavs:

8 straight. Dunleavy was 9-16 from three. Ilyasova's shot is glitched on this difficulty, he gets F grades on wide open three pointers because the distance shows red.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Lol - there has not been one single, solitary, screenshot of a game ending with EITHER team scoring south of 100 points. How often in the real NBA do you see games ending with scores like 147-128? Yeah, I can win that way...I know all the right spots on the floor to take shots and I can run an offense, but playing on HOF is so formulaic and not organic at all. The computer cheeses you and you cheese back (that's not really a debatable point with me - you can call it whatever you want, and yes I agree there's a strategic element but the strategy boils down to figuring out how to most efficiently get points because the CPU's gonna shoot 50%+ no matter what you do on defense)...that's why each and every game on HOF plays well over 100 - it's not a demonstration of skill per se if you're able to win, it's a war of attrition that you toughed out.
HOF/Sim or HOF/Default is perfectly fine if you're just playing quick games like this to test out your skills, or if you're playing against friends online, but it's downright unequivocally horrid to use for an association. Could you imagine the disparity in statistics this would generate? Your team would lead the league in PPG by 30 and FG% by like 20 and you would probably STILL have a losing record.
**Oops, I thought I was in the "what difficulty do you prefer" thread, I didn't realize that I had clicked over here. I wasn't trying to hijack this thread or anything...my point still stands as valid though! haha**Last edited by CUTigers2324; 02-07-2013, 02:41 PM.Comment

I don't think you can win, not with the Bucks anyway. Try it. The score is irrelevant to what we're doing here which is to learn how to play better to beat the toughest difficulty. I play at a very fast pace, who cares.Comment

Lol - I don't care what you think, and that's not even my point. I disclaimed and said I was posting in a different thread.Comment
