Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
I like ur challange but i think it would be too easy for me with regular HOF sliders. Idk might try it out tho. I am interested in playing u tho seems like u know a lot about 2k and might be a nice challengeOnly thing in sports that matters is Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs, and Blackhawks .

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
sorry coach2k if it's not your challenge but i tried yesterday a game in HOF and i discovered that i could disturbed cpu when i used the Right joystick and L2 or R2 (a mix). The nuggets missed a lot of jumpshot and lay up!
I won the game without stress, i used a lot coach sliders, run play, fastbreak, crashboard, pressure. For exemple in the second quarter, Nuggets were unstoppable, i diminished the pressure, increased help d, offense rythm, fastbreak, and diminished Run plays, and Crashboard. I could change my offense and my D!
it was a perfect game, Jordan 30 pt, 6 ast, 5 reb, Rodman 11 rebond, a lot of foul.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
If your objective as a gamer here is to become better from the standpoint of making coaching decisions and understanding NBA player abilities and their use in the proper context then the best thing you can do is play guys who are much better than you and who view the game the same way you do. The CPU is decent to start with but your growth will peak. This board is teeming with with these kinds of players.Comment

If your objective as a gamer here is to become better from the standpoint of making coaching decisions and understanding NBA player abilities and their use in the proper context then the best thing you can do is play guys who are much better than you and who view the game the same way you do. The CPU is decent to start with but your growth will peak. This board is teeming with with these kinds of players.
Playing those guys has made it so it's almost easier for me to beat the CPU on hall of fame mode than them.
This is the message that I preach to everyone who joins my league. You won't get any better if you always play people of equal skill or less.
A lot of guys here play the CPU. I started this challenge here because a lot of the community adjusts sliders to make the game easier or more realistic which is all fine and I have no problem with that. It's just that most of the time when anyone has a problem, that's the first solution.
I'm just trying to be another voice that says you should play the simulation sliders out of the box and just use difficulty rookie, pro, allstar, superstar and hall of fame to do it.
The other goal of this project is to demystify hall of fame mode. Often times people say things that aren't exactly true for the game. It may play a certain way for them but that doesn't mean it's always true. So what happens is that people say things and claim they are fact when in actually it's not. The mode is put on a pedastal and usually everyone discourages people from playing it when the main difference is that you have to play really good to win. Something everyone here probably could do.
Where ever possible, I try and provide evidence through box scores and video to prove what is true and what isn't.
Some of the things people say that aren't true are:
1. The CPU hits everything
2. You can't play defense on hall of fame mode
3. You can't get realistic scores and stats
4. You have to cheese to win
5. You can't get blocks
But none of those things are true. They may be for certain players. But really, what it means is that they are not quite where they need to be either in skill or decision making.
Whether they do a rookie challenge or a hall of fame challenge, I'm just looking for everyone to consider progressively making the game harder to elevate their game and to prove that hall of fame mode against the cpu can be just as enjoyable as the other levels once you raise your level of play.Last edited by Coach2K; 02-09-2013, 02:24 PM.For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Well, I thought I was going to cross the Pistons off in this game but they came back and beat me. I led almost the whole game after getting off to a good start.
I also thought that I would hold the CPU to under a 100, something people complain about not being able to do. 103 is my personal best that I have done twice.
Otherwise, I think this is a pretty realistic box score. I really don't see how people say you can't get realistic box scores on hall of fame simulation sliders. This is pretty close.
I held the CPU under 50 percent shooting but I just couldn't keep them off the line.
I probably should play my starters more. Under 30 minutes here and typical of my substitution pattern.
Good game CPU.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
I think I will...it seems like a good way to earn some VC while getting better at the game (I'm a MyTeam addict).
Also, if anybody wants to play me, just add me on PSN. My username is MLONDER.Comment

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
I played the New York Knicks three times using the Raptors. Each game was different, with me trying different things but I lost all three games. The last game was close, so I'm not too upset - mostly frustrated.
I'm going to take a break for a bit here Coach; everyone have fun and keep working on things.Comment

Hall of Fame mode with regular sliders for me is way too easy. i have to lower alot of the user sliders to make the game more competetive.Only thing in sports that matters is Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs, and Blackhawks .

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
This is a good idea to try out as a challenge. I might join in too. Probably play like one game a day for I guess about a month? Never tried HOF yet cuz I know they're gonna be too good like I tried in 2k12. I currently play in Superstar difficulty on normal sliders (default).
Btw, I think a good way to recognize people, as I read in the thread somewhere, is to put their name on the first post of the thread. Then next to their name, put their team they're using and then like "Level 1" for winning the first game, level 2 for the next and so on. Just an idea, maybe that'll get people to join more? Only a suggestion though!
P.S. Maybe show the record in the challenge like 1-0 or however many losses and wins they have. This will add to the competitiveness in the challenge IMO.My NBA 2k Blog and VideosComment

Since it is still pretty challenging and does carry some frustration - not like it use too since I have improved but I still have to step away from it too from time to time. For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

I did put Hall of Fame in my profile over to the left though and that might be a good place for it.
I'll check that out to see what we can put in there. For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Yeah I thought some sort of recognition would be good too. I can't track of everyone so you guys that participate will have to keep track of your own. So for now I am considering myself Hall of Fame Level 29 since I have beaten the 29th and 30th team.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
They got the better of me here. A big second quarter where they shot 80 percent and scored 41 points was the difference in the game.
Paul George had a great game with 32 points.
At this level of play, at least with my play style, I think it's important to develop as many options as possible. What the computer does is just hone in on what you like to do and take it away. The goal: have so many options that the CPU can't get a bead on all of your tendencies. Human opponents do the same thing.
Right now I've been working on pick and pops with West and Hansbrough and this has developed quite nicely but I can see the more I go to it the more CPU rotates to cover it.
Anyway, didn't cross the Pistons off the list yet.
Here's the box score from my last Pistons game.
