Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Challenge accepted! My team will of course be the Chicago Bulls! Boozer is a beast and little Nate knows how to run the floor. The whole roster is full of gems.Comment

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
So I thought I would revisit my thread here since the Pacers are facing the Knicks in the playoffs and go on the road against the HOF CPU Knicks in the playoffs.
This was a great game that I won in convincing fashion - by 20 points and overcoming 18 offensive rebounds by the Knicks - to cross another team off the list.
If I can do it, you guys can too.
Of course, Carmelo got his scoring 40 but he fouled out in the fourth quarter.
Paul George got 25, 10 and 8 to almost get a triple double to lead 7 guys in double figures.
Tyler Hansbrough was 7-7 in the first half and finished with 22.
Here are the box scores:
And a little bit for those that say you can't get blocks in this game.
Hibbert with 3 blocks.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
To try and give you guys continued motivation to work against the HOF CPU, here's another team I've added to the list of cpu teams I've managed to beat on hall of fame simulation sliders - the San Antonio Spurs.
The last time I played the Spurs, Tony Parker picked up a triple double so going into this game I made it a point to get the ball out of Tony Parker's hands either by forcing it to go to the two guard out of bounds or by double teaming him. He still managed 15 points and 15 assists including two key mid range shots down the stretch.
Early I got a 15 point lead that the CPU slowly chipped away at until they took the lead and got ahead by seven.
I kept at it and managed to win in the final seconds off an offensive rebound putback by David West with two seconds remaining. Below are my box scores along with the last two minutes of the game on video.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
It's tough to hold the HOF CPU under 30 points in a quarter. Here's an example of a win against the Pistons where I held them under 100 points.
I'm guessing if I can get better the scores will start coming down.
I usually average about 106 points a game most of the time. I'm not really pushing it with 9 fast break points against the Spurs above...lol.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Watching Chris Smoove's live stream got me fired up to try and tackle the HOF CPU Heat today since I'm a Pacer fan and have been watching the Pacers in the playoffs.
While Smoove uses hof default sliders, for this challenge I use hof simulation sliders which are a tad less forgiving.
I downloaded the current rosters and started an NBA Today Association and it loaded up in the playoffs right at game 7 which was perfect.
For added realism, I sat Danny Granger and did not play him
The road playoff crowd was into it right off the bat and the Heat started off hot and built a lead in the first but I battled back and eventually built an 11 point lead that I held onto to pull out the victory 113-110.
Roy Hibbert was player of the game with 33 points.
Just like in real life, the Pacers turned it over 18 times but good shot selection helped me overcome it.
Unfortunately, since 2K froze after the game, the only proof I have is the playoff tree and the final score from the home page which are below.
The moral of the story though is not that I won but that all of you are capable of winning on hall of fame mode and the point of my thread is just to give you guys motivation to work at the level, show that it can be done and attest to the fact that the games can be a blast which this one was - especially with the playoff atmosphere.
Good luck to those who give it a try.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
In my fantasy offline association with serpentine draft order I went on an 11 game win streak on hall of fame simulation. I lost the game after and just won right now. However when I tried playing with the real Lakers I played terribly so idk if there's something wrong with my association making it too easy or my chemistry is just so good that I can't be stopped. Our team is #1 in points, assists, field goal percentage, and just about every offensive stat other than 3 point percentage. And I don't really have an overpowered team either. It looks like this:
PG Rose, Barea
SG Shumpert, Terry
SF Deng, Mbah a Moute
PF Ilyasova, Battier, Singleton, R. Evans
C Perkins, Camby
I just rely on good defense and hitting perimeter shots with occasional screen setting to get Rose easy layups and dunks.GT: assassinK24Comment

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
OK. So lets cross the Toronto Raptors off the list. I'd previously beaten the HOF CPU Raptors but didn't post it at that time. That brings the total to 9 teams knocked off and is really one third of the league since I won't play against the Pacers. Those nine include the two teams in the NBA finals, the Spurs and the Heat.
Good game in Toronto. They are always tough to beat up there if you let the crowd get into it.
The game was close in the fourth with Indiana going on a 9-2 run to win the game. Including a dagger by Danny Granger at the 29 second mark. Hibbert was player of the game putting up 26.
I've got video of the last three minutes of the game. For you purists out there, I did trigger an up and under by Hibbert when I tried to shot fake as the shot clock expired in this segment.
These box scores and video are here just to give you guys motivation that you can beat the HOF CPU on simulation sliders with no changes and have a good time. I know it seems impossible to a lot of people but its really not. I almost held them under a 100 points. If I was thinking I would have tried better to keep them under that number.
Here are some screen shots plus the video at the end so you can see some game play.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
That might come eventually as I improve on defense. We'll see. I've already reduced it a bunch from when I started when they hit everything. Now it's down to almost 1 out of 2. The Knicks game above was 45 percent which I thought was awesome considering it was the Knicks. The better you know your opponent, the better you'll do.
Also keep in mind I make no adjustments to the defensive settings and play straight up almost entirely. Might be different if I did.Last edited by Coach2K; 06-08-2013, 06:29 PM.For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

Re: Coach2K's Hall of Fame Challenge
Here's some end game footage from a win over the HOF CPU Bobcats. This was a pretty tight game throughout.
Had a great block with Hibbert at 3:47 with about 20 seconds to go in the game.
