    Re: Does 2K promote cheese?

Just the sad fact that online video games nowadays will always be favored towards a more easy, arcade experience. It's just a part of marketing. The main demographic is young, teenage kids. They don't want all that defense, just a couple dunks a game, setting up realistic threes by causing pressure and swinging the ball around. They wanna pull up in everyone's face like Lebron James. They want highlight dunks. Nothing too hard. That's why online sports games are always more arcadey. FIFA is incredibly arcadey online. Madden too. Just how sports games are. How they feel they need to make them so their main demographic isn't upset. That's why these games, for simulation players, are best played in well organized leagues. On 2K you can change the sliders. On FIFA you can turn the speed down and make the controls manual or semi-assisted. On Madden you can edit sliders, speed, and implement play-calling rules. Sadly when it comes to pick-up games to play in your spare time, you just need to make some friends who aren't all about winning but more about getting a realistic representation of the sport. I used to fret over this, but now I just accept the fact that this is how the video game companies feel they need to make the game in order to keep a happy-medium.

The more customization we get the better though. 2K needs to take out the locked birth dates on players again so we can make full retro rosters more easily. Just let us customize and you make the next game good enough so you won't lose the sales.

      Ummmm that's a 99.9 percent lie. I've tried this.

Edit: I jumped the gun. Maybe this works if you don't hold your hands up. I haven't tried it that way...makes no sense but it might work.

        Re: Does 2K promote cheese?

No, do not think 2k promotes cheese. I have played video games for a long time. Read alot about the industry and talked to some its members, and by no means do developers when making a game say lets create exploits this game. Even if they fix all the problem right now in 2K people will find new ones. In the end, It is a game; made with variables and equations, things will be exploited, and no game will ever be "cheese proof". As a Community all you can do is devise ways to counter their cheese and embrace those who play different. Most Cheesers choose these methods because their too lazy or lack the skills to use strategy to win in games. Most time they will quit after their cheese don't work. I have been working on ways to counter certain methods and will be posting video on the methods soon. So when the developers only patch things what are impossible to stop.

Im gonna have to respectfully disagree. Just look at the spin layup. And it didnt take a rocket scientist to figure the spin dunk was unstoppable in 2k11. The pro-hop was taken out and its effectiveness is more lifelike now. Why not take that cheesy spin layup out til you can tune it? Even if you sometimes got the charge call when you were in perfect position I could understand, but NOPE!! 85% of the time its a blocking foul or bucket.

They knew the paint D wasn't great so why are layups SO effective with 5 men around you? Somebody mentioned that maybe its bc they were working on next gen 2k. So if next gen 2k comes out and alot of these problems are fixed (Not to mention the exploits now are 10 fold what they were on 2k11. The 3s were perfect on 2k11!!), such as not being able to guard a man sprinting around the 3pt line, and momentum is tuned back to 2k11 status, i'll shut up. It just seems they are getting away from what makes 2k, 2k.

If you can't tell I just loss to a cheeser on MyTeam Ha!! 16-30 from 3pt, most with a hand in the face, on 56 shots..... Nothing but spin layups/ gathers/ 3s/ cheesy D etc...... But I lose, smh.

Yep. Don't move the left stick OR right stick when defending in the post or sliding over to stop the drive. Just hold the left trigger. You contest the animation 99.9 percent of the time. The remaining .1 percent is if the player is in the restricted area right under the basket (in which case it's an automatic score like it should be if you/cpu let them get that deep). The only way for that to happen on a consistent basis is if it's a team up game however.

First if all quick matches are on pro so if you are play on that setting you should expect some unrealistic things to occur. i am not completely disagreeing with you, i did not mean that 2k is free of all responsibility but every time they make a correction to a cheese it affect another part of the game. Just take this in consideration you have 8 months to make a game. You have to add features, get approval check for glitches make correction, then make sure those correction do affect another area of the game. So as i said before no i do not think 2K promotes cheese but i think they might not do the best job of handling it.

In 2k11, no-one had a mid range or 3pt rating in the 90s or even the high 80s and now we have players like Blake Griffin with a 80 mid range and Iggy with a 3pt above 80 even though he's an inconsistent shooter. I think 2k11, Ray Allen had the highest 3pt rating and it was in the mid to low 80s.

I think you mean if you use the Intense Defense thing with LT. I personally don't and LT doesn't create contact with the offensive animation most of the time.

ya players like Blake Griffin, Josh Smith in the mid 80s @ midrange is laughable. The only players that deserve a 90 from there are Bosh & Ibaka they are ranked in the top 2 in mid range.

Curry, Kover, Calderon deserve their 90+ from 3

Sometimes it doesn't cause a contact animation, but they do miss. This is why sometimes you'll big men seemingly miss bunnies at the rim when nobody jumped or someone take off for a dunk, only for it to clang against the rim and bounce high in the air.

After playing multiple ranked matches AND against "friends" these past few days I have to agree with the title of this thread smh

This game is a CHEESERS DREAM GAME OMG !!!

                            3's in your face
                            no contact in the paint
nothing resembles sim basketball in this game

The only thing in NBA 2k13 that resembles real NBA basketball is they have the real players names, jerseys, and court smh

Every time I play this game I get frustrated lol even when I win

I had FUN playing 2k11, I get "PISSED" playing 2k13

Yeah I know. You will still make about 50% of them. But the fact that it doesn't create contact is a huge issue because it allows the offensive player to get really close to the rim against a well positionned defense when there is no other shot or move that would have got them that.

Just watch people's video on youtube. They all abuse the up and unders. It's no secret. Some are even funny about it they say things like: "Hey don't forget to fake before attacking the rim when you're in the post". They don't even wait to see if the defender bites now, they just do an up and under. It doesn't make much sense.
