NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Do you find the rebounding a bit wonky? I am also a PF with Tenacious Rebounding, and there are tons of times when I've boxed out, or have a better position that I'll lose a battle with one of the guys going over my back to get a board. I play on PC, and my controller sometimes feels sluggish when I hit a key (and the action either doesn't register or registers a few seconds after the fact and I end up jumping randomly while running down the court) so maybe it's that? I can usually pull in between 7 to 12 boards a night, so maybe I'm doing fine. I don't know.
Lovin' myCareer otherwise, though!
There is a problem with user controlled defenders always feeling sluggish, I believe that it is the auto drop down defense. And I have issues with the jumping registering as well. I guess it's just something to deal with.
Rebounding is all about position though, I would recommend that you always stay in front of your man (right stick defense helps to deny the man), and hit the LT as soon as the shot goes up (you box out and get a grade bonus for that). The hardest part for me is timing the jump, I jump early all the time and another teammate or the opponent gets it.

Second year on the Timberwolves, and looking to move on from them. They just seem so lifeless out there, and we're 3-6 so far. I'm going to wait and see what develops, but it's likely that I'll be asking for a trade to a contender sooner rather than later.
I also miss seeing players get hurt. Since the All-Star break in season 1 there haven't been injuries. It's something for the bugs/glitches thread, true, but I kinda wish I can find something to turn mycareer injuries back on.Last edited by Armitage; 08-02-2014, 08:14 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
I am having trouble with standing dunks, my guy has 80 in dunk, standing dunk, and layup but I cannot make a dunk under the basket for anything! Do I need to max out the dunk abilities or get posterizer? I mean the description of it says that the player values contact dunks over layups, I'm just not sure. What?Comment

How in the world do you stop Paul George? He puts up a quint double against us all the time, usually going over 50 points, and he's one of the only two we can't seem to stop. I'd hate to face a team with him and Isaiah Thomas on it. The game loves them enough where they may be able to go 82-0.Comment

I know how you feel, but it seems like some people in the game are unstoppable when it comes to them doing their thing. I mean I played against Boston and Khris Humphries was dominating the paint! Maybe a slider change could help, but I find it's just something to deal with. What?Comment

Has the "upcoming schedule" screen been removed? I've played a few games without seeing it pop up.Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Couple of things. I assume that some of the created players can develop into superstars, right? I'm hoping to be able to play a bunch of seasons on my career player, so hopefully there will be some rivals that show up. The team I'm on drafted a player that looks un-cannily like my own player and it annoys me when he's on the floor. I tend to notice all the little quirky moves that the players do more cause we'll both do them at the same time. STOP THAT YOU EVIL DOPPELGANGER!!

Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread
Does anyone feel the Tenacious Rebounder skill doesn't actually help rebounding? I play a few games with and without the skill with my 7ft Faceup PF, and I would get pretty much the same amount of rebounds with/without the skill (usually 17-23 rpg). Though, I noticed it's a bit easier to get more offensive rebounds with the skill, but honestly, I don't really feel it's necessary.
Actually, I feel a lot of skills are not that effective (except Finisher, Gatorade Powerpack, Brick Wall).
On my PF, he has these skills:
Gatorade Powerpack - PF/C usually run out of energy real quick. Without it my player would start getting tired in the 3rd quarter. With it, I start getting tired around the last 3 mins of the 4th quarter. A tired PF can rarely make any outside shots, contact layups & post play is a bit more difficult, and rebounding is harder (I notice more balls start bouncing off my head or slip through my hands which is BS.)
Microwave + Heat Retention - Ever since I used these two, I was able to make a few more 3pt & mid-range shots, though I wondering if there are better options.
On Court Coach - Perfect solution for your teammates natural tendency to sag off shooters. I usually just make the team "Pressure Shooters", which usually leaves the opposing team to attempt under 20 3s, scoring around 20%-25% (which is a big improvement considering without the skill, the CPU will make 12+ 3s out of 25-30 attempts, for 50%-60%). I always use "Pressure Shooter" tactic unless I'm playing against certain teams. I definitely change the tactic to "Focus on Stars" whenever I play against the Heat or Clippers.
Brick Wall - Love this skill. Makes screens really effective and as a Faceup PF, it makes the Pick and Fade awesome.
I was wondering if I should swap Microwave + Heat Retention for Screen Outlet + Deadeye/Catch & Shoot. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Comment

Well, you can try deleting your Game Data (not your Save Data). I used to have an issue where after the post-game conference would end, the game would freeze at the loading screen. When I deleted my Game Data, this never happened again. Hopefully, this works out for you.Comment
