I look at the game as a demo really. I got it and will give the game to my friends nephew as I do every year (I normally get him a used copy for Christmas). And since I'm getting the next gen version I can just give him my copy of the game.

With that out of the way I will say it is a solid game. Not any dramatic improvements and players to me are overrated in the game. The gameplay is clearly tightened up this year. The Pro Stick is a negative and a plus. I got so used to holding the left trigger that I've messed some ope opportunities.

The defense is much better this year. I must say that I love playing as Victor Oladipo and any two way player. If you love scrapping on the perimeter then you will love it.

With that being said this game does have me excited for THE REAL game to come out in November. If they are truly adding on layers on top of this game then NBA 2K14 on the next gen will be beautiful and a SIM PLAYERS dream.

I remember 2K10 looking really similar to 2K11. But the gameplay improvements were tremendous. It's the same thing here. Yeah there's no MJ mode but i wanna try LBJ's mode even though I'm not a big fan of jus anymore. Association never gets any upgrades..was anyone really expecting much in that area? Unless you are a crew guy or a casual I just don't see how this isn't worth the buy. If it wasn't the same visually and people weren't hyped for NG this game would get such better reviews. People are letting these other things cloud their judgment.

I know there are deals out there, but some of them depend on country and unfortunately I'm lazy when it comes to hunting... exchange rate doesn't really help me much either right now. Anyway, my opinions are based on the PC version (so they may not apply to the console crowd) - and the further I get into the game, the more I feel like despite a few improvements here and there, for the most part, 2k14 is 2k13 with a new coat of paint. I'm getting commentary that I remember from 2k13, the default My Player is the exact same monkey I selected last year (as I said, I'm lazy so I just took the default guy), etc.

Decent game if you don't have 2k13 on PC... but if I had known beforehand what the PC version would have been like, I "might" not have picked up 2k14. Is there really such a big difference between the PC and even current gen console version?

It is a must buy for the simple fact that they pretty overhauled the defense. You can actually play defense and cheesers/exploiters have to actually learn to play basketball in order to win. Ive hated online in 2K for years but this year....finally..its playable for me. That was worth a buy for me. The game finally plays like ...basketball..go figure

MAN you are missing out on some Great Game Play. If you enjoyed last three years......This is better. Not perfect.....not even close to that. BUT a lot more FUN than ALL the other NBA 2k's.

Don't wait. and you better bring your A game.

you say about adjusting tendancies to get perfect PIP....what did you do ??? this was my biggest gripe about last year...the AI drive the paint all the time and PIP would be 50 plus every game. Still waiting on my copy here in the UK !!

I have always had this theory that the shooting tendencies with Inside,close, mid, 3pt, post shots should add up to a 100 and the attack basket and post up should be at 100. Her are my sliders for it

I think thats exaclty how I have it set, I dont have my PS3 on to check at the moment, but I am almost positve thats how I have it set. In any game so far I have played every team has been less than 50% of theri pts in the paint. The past 2 games against foreign teams they have shot 30 3's. They will drive but if I close it off they kick it out for a 3. I Have notcie when I change my defensive strategy the AI adjust. If I play tight on ball they will try to pound it in, if I set block the paint, they will drive and dish for jumpers. Gameplay wise so far it has been heaven and unlike any basketball game I have ever played. Its the most realistic gameplay from a lot less tweaks this year than I have ever had to do to get the game to play like it should.

No.

After playing multiple games i would say still 2k11>2k14 in terms of gameplay.

2k11 - players have their own shot releases and doesnt feel automatic
2k14 - just hold the right stick at the right time with EVERY player.

Id say ill just continue my association in 2k11.

Also since 2k13 player models are way too big in proportion to the court.

Right now it is for 2k13. Eaglerock has 2k14 so we will see what happens there. NEXT Gen pricing is not for me right now, PLUS i feel that MORE editing options will be taken out of it.(Hopefully Not).
