I only brought that into the conversation because they have been sitting on the sideline for over 2 years now and they have to be looking at what 2k is doing to the different modes and the backlash that is being heard by the association online/offline users and that is where EA can make the biggest blow and catch up to 2K...2K by far will have the best gameplay for video games, but in terms of giving the consumer what they are asking for in order to play the game, I think EA will take the oppostive approach of 2K and be consumer friendly and take the feedback they get as positive and ways to improve their product, rather then what 2K does which is take feedback, rip it up, toss it in the trash, then act like they came up with it. I dont see anyone who is going to be buy a sports video game where you weren't able to play a mode in the game that went years beyond the current season, thats what makes a sports video game.

Re: I can see it coming
The thing about it is...you don't NEED to buy VC...because you can earn it by actually playing the game.
In MyGM hopefully it will translate into VC = XP, and you use the XP to level up your GM...like an RPG.Comment

Re: I can see it coming
Unfortunately, the writing is on the wall: Everything is getting catered to the Online, "My___" crowd, both of which don't interest me in the least. And you guys that are full of optimism (about 2K "fixing" this in the future, i.e. bringing back "regular old" Association) are in a place I wish I could still be part of. I'm too old however, to be full of "wishful thinking", when I'm fully aware of how the world works.
I will be getting this game on November 15th, but my Spidey Senses are telling me that the jig is almost up for the 2K series. They're on a course that will soon eliminate the demographic that I occupy. I can only hope (of which I have little) that Live will be there to pick up the slack.Comment

Re: I can see it coming
The point is, what if we have NO interest in the whole VC thing? I've accumulated a ton of VC from 2K13, and have used literally none of it. What happens when all I wanna do is play a freaking Association? I don't wanna have "Conversations" or worry about putting my VC towards "Skills" for "MyGM" or to "level up" MyGm. I don't have a desire to do ANY of that. I wanna start an Association with the Bucks, and just play basketball. Is that too much to ask?

For the first time in my ten years of playing 2K I've had to ask myself, "Where exactly is 2K going?" The on-court product remains solid but everything else seems to be heading in this strange virtual currency, RPG direction. The bummer is, there's not going to be an alternative. It'd be really great if EA came through and delivered at some point down the line, but I'm not holding my breath.
I kind of feel like the vocal social network fans and online battlers are slowly phasing out those looking for all around NBA realism and replication, not story modes and leveling up.Comment

Re: I can see it coming
The VC crap is already here.
I used to solely play association from like 2K5 to 2K10..but I saw someone playing My Player on youtube then checked it out and played the hell outta that.
Back then, Crew and My Player was fun as anything, and better yet it was real competitive. There was a few a-hole hackers but not enough to annoy me.
Then 2K11, hackers galore, like it was ridiculous, and since they introduced VC in 2K13 all the hackers just buy the VC for their My Players now. Yea, a 7'11 PG isn't possible anymore, but I've been playing the right way for about a month now and my guy's an 80. Yet I still play nothing but 99 overalls because people take shortcuts.
My first game in My Team, I play an all gold lineup, and I got my crappy starter team. Being able to buy VC just makes the game unbalanced and unfun for players like myself who enjoy building up my team or player slowly...it's just more rewarding.
I pray to the basketball god that 2K removes VC for next gen but seeing how much money it must make them I'm doubtful..I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

Re: I can see it coming
Well i think anybody (with a brain) saw this coming the moment they first heard about there being a possibility to buy vc in 2k13. It's not going anywhere, it's free money for 2k. Which doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing since it's extra money they can use on developing future games.
However, in the spirit of common decency there should be limits, i'll give some examples:
Mycareer:
- The (valid imo) reason a lot of people buy vc to upgrade their attributes is because they don't have time to spend hours on a game. So why not implement a limit? Say 80ovr and after that you can only use vc you earned within the game.
- Accessories should be free, unless they have attribute boosts.
Myteam:
- Institute some kind of talent cap. I won't care if people buy 100 packs as long as they can't put 12 golds on the floor. Something like 3 golds, 5 silvers and 4 bronze seems very reasonable. Basing it on ovr would be even better.
- Don't charge salary on players that people get out of packs they bought with earned vc. Have the salary be a penalty for those who bought their team with real money. (wishful thinking i know, it's more likely they'd do it the other way around)
"The park" aka blacktop:
- Some basic clothes should be free. Maybe 5 or 10 colors, plain shirts and shorts, no logos or anything.
- Special clothing can remain the same.
- Remove jewelry since it gives an unfair advantage. Unfair because it can only be bought with real money.
Goodbye association, the only major mode left where i didn't have to worry about vc.WetBeaverNeeded YouTube - blacktop/crew/myteam/association on ps3

Re: I can see it coming
This would be an absolute nightmare. How well your team does should be based on your choices as a GM, not "levelling up" and having more "skill points" making your team automatically great.Comment

Re: I can see it coming
Another problem with VC: I can play thousands of "Quick Games" and those coins I acquired can be later used on MyPlayer to boost his stats, when in reality that "MyPlayer" didn't actually do a single thing to deserve said boost.
I seriously hope this won't happen in MyGM, I really don't want VC being involved at all, it only hinders the experienceComment

I wouldn't have any beef with it, if it didn't have to invade the way I like to play the game offline. Here We Go Steelers!!! Here We Go!!!

Re: I can see it coming
that doesnt work if u wanna play multiple modes where VC is needed...just think of how long it would take to buy 5 gold packs in myteam by just playing team up, blacktop or quick matches! 250-300vc in around 25-30min! that would be 200 games/100 hours...Or think of trying to max out your myplayer, 150.000vc - 600 games/300 hours lolComment
