    @robmufc
I agree. That should be the right approach.
But what if you want to go online with myteam or myplayer in crew/park after a week and cannot compete cause others have already maxed out everything?
2k should at least improve matchmaking system to avoid people frustration

Not sure what Crew will involve NG. But for MyTeam, just play the tournaments according to the team you have? Or, play schedule to get the sapphires?

Man, really, your points all sound logic and cool. You seem to have my same approach.
What I'm saying is that in my case I MUST (not WANT) have this approach unless I want to spend extra real cash to buy VC
I clearly know that this is how the real world works (C.R.E.A.M.) but I hoped that videogames could be an exception

Re: I can see it coming

i understand the idea of working up from the bottom and grinding, its works like that in every other video game, but the way 2k has it is deliberately set up to get us to spend $$$. in over video games, especially rpgs, the reward you get is in fair correlation with the amount of time you put in to get that work; and you usually know the reward you are going to get, and what you have to do to get it. like in skyrim, if say i want a specific set of armour, i have to go out and find/earn/refine pieces of the armour, and yeah it takes time, but at least you are working towards something that you know you will get in the end, and you can also track your progress of how close or far you are to getting it (by the number of individual armour pieces you have)

in 2k, just to get a gold booster, you need to collect 10,000 VC. if you want to get that through just playing games and without spending $$$, its quite a bit of playing. and the randomness of the booster packs makes it so more often than not you will be disappointed with what you received. what you get is rarely worth the amount of time and effort you spend. and 2k knows this, and knows people dont have the time to play by their rules if they want a strong myteam or myplayer, and the only way around it is to give 2k more $$$. compared to monetary systems and markets in other video games, the value of VC is way too inflated.

2k's priorities have changed. outside of gameplay, the only modes they want to put time and work into are the VC oriented ones. forget the outdated association, shoddy cyberfaces, the mediocre creation options (man AT LEAST have it so the jerseys of the created team can have the name of the team on the jersey instead of their pre-made logos). if 2k really cared about providing a quality experience, they would 1) bring back the crib, and 2) introduce like a checklist thing for players in myteam, and when they are all completed, you unlock that player. like say if you want to get kobe, you have to complete say 20 different tasks with kobe based on what he's done in real life (more tasks for iconic players, less for other players). like 81 pts vs toronto, 12 for 18 from three (or better) game, 20 for 20 from free throw game, 42 points in one half against MJ game, etc. and not just players, but also coaches, courts, jerseys, historic and current.

I agree with the MyTeam thing. Too much VC for little reward, even from games. I just don't understand MyPlayer. Imo, it'll get boring having a player to rival Lebron straight away. I've now played 22 games in MyCareer, earning 11k VC. I'm OVR 72, with 1.3k saved for the Gatorade Packs because I don't get a break after the middle of the 2nd quarter. Plus I'm roleplaying MyPlayer. I won't go about 80 Rookie year, 85 2nd year and get some sig skills, then go all out 3rd year. Between the 2nd and 3rd year, I should be able to get some more accessories. My 10k from pre-order went on Compression Shorts and 2 Ankle Braces. Sorry for lack of spaces, PS3 browser won't allow me to

Wait, are they catering to the hip hop casual crowd, or are they wanting people to do TOO much and make nerdy wonky decisions playing MyGM and not letting you just 'play games'?

              How can both be true?

You guys are insane.. look up mass hysteria.

                Is this Bill O'reily?

Way to throw two unrelated qualities and make them appear to have a correlation.

I love hip hop, and i'm not "casual".

Also what do you define as "nerdy wonky decisions"?

My quick 2 cents is that I don't mind the whole VC thing... as long as it's reasonable. But since VC, the servers have been pretty stable for the most part, and no my player cheaters, and some cool modes introduced like blacktop and crews came back (1/2 way at least). So if extra money from VC allowed that, then that's a positive. The thing is the prices need to be somewhat reasonable or I think ppl will just say F it after awhile cuz it's too much work to level up.

What's the problem with just playing the game and enjoying and spending VC when you have it?
It's not a race so i don't understand why you feel you need to farm/spend real money.
Just play the game, enjoy it and incrementally upgrade what you want to upgrade.

I'd say there's the potential to be a number of problems with this approach depending on a gamer's tendencies:

                        1) Virtual currency is not based on any sense of realism. For many, it will serve as a constant reminder that their game is not a realistic simulation, but a wacky RPG hybrid.

                        2) Even if one accepts the idea of virtual currency, its required use makes no sense in multiple situations. Spending a significant chunk of one's yearly salary (which is paid in VC) in order to purchase a headband is a tough pill to swallow.

                        3) Virtual Currency has encouraged the creation of a general manager mode whose basis seems largely divorced from reality. As mentioned ad nauseam, "leveling up" in no way represents how running a team may work in real life. No one unlocks the ability to control ticket prices by pouring a bucket of fictional golden coins into someone's lap.

                        4) The currency in question comes at a slow drip. There's the feeling that one must be completely obsessed with the 2K product for its entire cycle in order to experience all the game has to offer. For many, it becomes an unwanted necessity to decide whether to fully flesh out MyCareer, purchase a few pieces of clothing, or now likely concentrate on MyGM. In short, based upon past implementation, there's not enough time in a day for folks to enjoy 2K in full.
