Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
He wasnt sure but he told me to enjoy as long as i could. I would think if there going that direction that it could be far enough out to release that they could do it in 2k13. Lets hope we can get one more yr out of this."Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J.Comment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
Then I hope 2k enjoyed my money while they got it, I'm done supporting gaming companies that put out lack luster games and strip away the ability for the community to edit their terrible products. First we have to glitch our way around just to trade classic players now we're not even going to be able to use the only thing that allows us to fix 2k's glaring oversights on things like Uniforms and Accessory colors? No thanks.
Edit: Hokup, is there a way to edit player loyalty in hex?
And no you cant do it edit that in hex. Only in REDitor it is another floating byte."Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J.Comment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
Also main push for this about a month ago. I got a tweet from the NBA2k rep. Not going to say his name. He told me to enjoy the hex / REDitoring while we can, they seem to be moving towards the direction of Hard Codeing there save files ala ea sports. So this NBA 2k12 or 2k13 could be the last year we can hex / REditor edit our files...
If they do it I'm done with this game. I don't want to wait a month or 2 to see any given player added or updated...If you like my work I appreciate any help: https://www.paypal.me/s3anbarkl3yComment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
No i am pretty sure he wasnt and hard coding the save file would not effect any type of art updates. Just would not let us edit roster , myplayer save. It is mainly because of the crazy hacks last year with myplayer.
And could be because of us using players that are not longer part of the NBAPA but still on the disc.... Ala not having alot of recent rtetired players in the FA pool this yr like in last few yrs of games. Maybe not wanting to sued by those player. Thats just my idea on that.
1. since that file can be used online and people can cheat, spoiling other users experience, they can just hard code the "myplayer" file.
2. If they want to avoid that problem there's an easy solution --> update the disc content (damn, there're shoes there from 2k10)
There're games out there who still sell a lot just for the modding possibilities, and I think NBA 2K is becoming one of those little by little. There's a community behing hex editing (mainly at NLSC and OS) and there're a lot of people who buy the game just for the possibilities hex editing gives them (I myself switched to 360 this year just for this).
I just hope they think twice that decission before pulling the trigger. If you like my work I appreciate any help: https://www.paypal.me/s3anbarkl3yComment

I don't see this happening anytime soon.At least not in 2k13 or 14 maybe 2k15.Even if they did add something it would only be a check-sum which would eventually get cracked.
I actually seen this coming a long time ago. I'm not sure why it is a surprise for some people here.2k is trying to move away from how they coded in the dreamcast days.
Even if they move from dreamcast coding they would have to use different coding which is a make or break situation and I don't see them using different coding until the new-gen systems come out.Last edited by chrome_305; 03-21-2012, 12:44 PM.My blog: http://lazy-rainbow.blogspot.com/Comment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
i dont know chrome , seems like the next gen xbox could be out sometime in 2013. So i think that 2k13 or 2k14 could be that last of hex. Lets hope i am wrong..."Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J.Comment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
2 easy fixes:
1. since that file can be used online and people can cheat, spoiling other users experience, they can just hard code the "myplayer" file.
2. If they want to avoid that problem there's an easy solution --> update the disc content (damn, there're shoes there from 2k10)

Well if the do hard code it , i'll beback to pc or expand on the last set of hex coding game."Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J.Comment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
I think what push them over the edge was back right after release when i hex edited the settings file and uinlocked everything. And unis pics i took and posted on twiiter, here and NLSC. Got pushed on every NBA unis set. Even espn was using them for new unis in 2011-2012 season...
Well if the do hard code it , i'll beback to pc or expand on the last set of hex coding game.
i want to replace some jerseys (home and road) with the ones from the DLC, may i send u the file?that would be so nice, and it would make the roster that mch original, thanks in advance..Comment

Re: editing roster w/ hex editor?
So I just tried adding a game portrait to a player who has the black arm glitch after you fix the arms.... theres no way of adding the portrait! I tried it as the player was on the Bucks roster and the arms were fixed So then I went into hex and added the portrait and the arms defaulted back to black. I repeated the process but this time I exported the player before i added the portrait..... Even though the player was "Un-edttiable" the arms defauted back to the black arms after I added the portrait.Comment
