Many of you may be familiar with the explosive high school senior Victor Galvin from Richmond, VA. Last year, he grabbed the attention of many college recruiters and fans around the country alike. It was predicted that he would be a top five rated player going in to his senior year (and he still may be).

We are sad to report that Victor Galvin’s parents have been pronounced dead after a tragic car accident. Those close to Victor have said that Victor is unsure about his future in regards to not only college but basketball period. We have been asked to respect Galvin’s privacy while he grieves and attempts to determine his path from this point forward. - C Stewart Braxton says that that the Oklahoma State Cowboys are focused and ready to bring home the championship. “Even with the loss of Lavonte Freeman, we have a ton of talent. I’m gotten better, Rameek (Toole) is better and we have the leadership of Devon (McNair). I think we have a chance to go undefeated”. Oklahoma State opens up the season with a non-conference game against NC Central from the MEAC.

- Baylor fans are very excited about the young backcourt of PG J.R. Williams and freshman sensation Jameel Bethea. After his play last year, Williams is looking like a potential All American candidate and Bethea is without a doubt the most anticipated freshman to step foot on campus since… ever. The two could both be gone after this year so Baylor is expected big things from the two of them.

- Minnesota Junior forward Jesse Sparkman says that he and his team don’t “get enough respect”. Sparkman, a top five scorer in the nation last year, has no problem with making the chip on his shoulder visible to everyone. While they may not be getting a lot of recognition early in the season, an impressive November could potentially turn some heads.

- La. Tech and their star forward Julian Hardaway looked great in their opening game of the season against Stetson. Hardaway finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks in a 71 – 54 win.

- The Virginia Tech Hokies are apparently having a difficult time getting used to life without their previous four year All American point guard Wilbur Adams. While the team still has several NBA caliber players, they no longer have someone to run the offense as efficiently as Wilbur was able to. The search for his replacement resulted in a 60 – 59 loss against Virginia State. The one bright spot was sophomore center Montay Rider who finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks.

- BYU senior forward Dontavis Perez is getting his Player of the year campaign started off the right way. In four games this month, Perez is averaging 26.5 point per game. The team did lose a game against the Texas Longhorns but with the stellar play from Perez, BYU has to be feeling confident about their season. One Texas assistant coach said “I haven’t seen a scoring barrage like that since Jimmer Fredette. We were lucky to come out there with a win last week”.

- Duke Freshman Center Montego Hennesy is asserting his dominance early on in his career and you have to love his attitude. After averaging 19 points and 9 boards in his first five games as a Blue Devil, he has NBA scouts salivating. When asked about whether or not he is going to turn pro after his freshman year…. “It is a bit too early to tell but if I had to answer now, I would say no. I am enjoying college life a bit too much right now”.

- Who’s that blazing through the Illinois basketball arena…. Sonic the Hedgehog? No dummy, it’s freshman Maliki West. There were initially some people split on what kind of player Maliki would be. Some thought that his athleticism would lead to him being a great college player and others felt like he was just an athlete that couldn’t play basketball. Well it has only been a month but so far Maliki has been silencing critics. In a beat down of Presbyterian (89 – 53), Maliki logged 27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks. Not bad for “just an athlete”. Now let’s see if he can do it against better competition.

Love the new class, but any chance we'll see some current players' kids make an appearance? I know Lebron's kid was born in 2004 so I think something like that would make a great storyline; doesn't have to be him but like a former players kid would be cool.

To be honest, we have made a few kids that have links to real life players but the main reason I do not use ACTUAL player's kids is because then I lose all the freedom I have over the player. If it is a real person then I have to deal with "That doesn't look like Lebron's son in real life", "He isn't going to be that big", "I doubt that's how he would play", "His hair is longer than that", "He is not left handed"..... ok you get the point lol.

But honestly, I have always entertained the idea but I just don't ever think that I will give in to it because the one thing that I (and the rest of the guys on the team too) am big on is having complete control over these players.

Blindside sits down with Sergio Deleon

I got a call from Sapp the other day asking me to go to Spain. Sounds like a pretty big deal to most. But for those who have been following me since I joined the team I have already been on “scouting trips” to Spain. I’m seriously starting to consider buying myself a nice villa and just working from Spain. My target for this trip is one Sergio Deleon, oddly enough another Power Forward. There must be something in the water over here.
Before we got to talking I took the liberty of ordering for both of us in Spanish, much to the surprise of our waiter and Sergio himself.

Deleon: Wow! You speak Spanish?

BlindSide: Yes, a little. This isn’t my first rodeo believe it or not.

Deleon: Rodeo? You mean the running of the bulls right?

BlindSide: Kind of yes. I haven’t actually done that yet. I might have to add it to my list while I’m here.

Deleon: Well they hold it in my hometown of Pamplona. It’s an incredible rush. We could arrange something?

BlindSide: Is that right? I will definitely take you up on that offer. It’s safe to assume you’ve taken part in the festival?

Deleon: I have, almost every time. My coach says that is an excellent training method.

BlindSide: Training for what? Not dying?

Deleon: *laughs* you are a funny man. But no, he says that is
great for my conditioning. I had some injury troubles earlier in my career. So we took it upon ourselves to ensure I would be in peak physical shape before our season started.

BlindSide: Sounds like a smart man. Would he by chance be Bernardo Merino?

Deleon: You know Bernie?

BlindSide: Like I said, not my first ro.. I mean running of the bulls haha. But on a more serious note he has had a hand in the training of a couple other players I have interviewed.

Deleon: Oh the Brothers Domingo? That’s what you guys called them right?

BlindSide: Yes, that’s them! It’s a shame you can’t be the third brother. Perhaps a cousin?

Deleon: To even be held in the same regard as them would be a big accomplishment. They’ve done a lot for Spanish basketball.

BlindSide: So will you be joining them in the league then?

Deleon: I would very much like for that. But I guess I will have to wait and see how Coach feels.
