    Re: The Purist(s) NBA 2K11 Sliders (Post-Patch)

    greenieblue,

Found out that i had been using shot stick timing instead of using the real FG% and real FT%. Now i am getting more accurate percentages with shooting. And Evan turner not gets his free throws.

Also i won my first game with the sixers in my association after losing my first 10 games of the season so i am now 1-10. Only just beat the caveliers 100-98 thought i was going to lose it. How is your sixers season going?

    Great sliders also.

i love these sliders but i need to figure out what to put the shooting on because i play on all star and it very frustrating watching me miss open shots while the CPU throws up anything and it goes in any ideas?

One annoying thing I've noticed is that there is basically 0 talent after the 10th pick. Sometimes even after the 5th pick. Almost all rookies after pick 5 have 50-60 potential. That's fine on it's own, but since the entire NBA (the real players) have potentials of 70+, what I imagine will happen is that the 1st five picks in each draft will eventually find themselves starting somewhere and the rest of every draft will be out of the league. This will create a situation like every sports game before 2k11 has: real players will dominate the league until they retire.

I guess it's a players union issue (that they can't bring NBA player's potential down to reasonable numbers), but why do it to the draft picks if you can't do it to the real players?

I'm not sure how to deal with it. I've already edited two draft classes potential down 10, which essentially means that everyone after pick 5 has a 55 potential. Maybe that was a mistake. But there were still 95 Potentials, which bothered me.

I'm not saying that 2/3rd's of every draft isn't out of the league in 5 years irl, because they are. What I'm saying is, both the HUM and the CPU recognize high potential one way or another, draft them in the top 5 and then it's all 50's from there-- meaning Rajon Rondo is not going to happen, ever. Luc Richard, not going to happen. Landry Fields, not going to happen. Etc.

Should a guy with a 75 potential be available in the 2nd rd? No probably not. But a 69 after pick 5, yes.

This was definitely something they did to the rosters. It wasn't like this before.
          Greenie,

One thought on a possible "workaround". Create a spreadsheet with the # draft pick in column A and a bunch of potential edits in column B (i.e., -15 to +15 or something - you can probably figure out a better group of numbers than I can) and then =rand() in column C. Then sort by column C and edit potentials for each of the draft picks based on the "roll of the dice". A little time consuming, but that hasn't stopped you before This would all be done after the draft so as not to impact the CPU's picks (or your own for that matter).

          Anyway, just a thought...

This slider set along with the rosters that are mentioned on the 1st page makes this game an incredible experience for me. Never before in all my years of video b-ball have I felt such sim/realism. Playmaker's sets for NBA Live series were damn good and I wish he would have tweaked/posted for this year, but these sliders have taken things up a notch.

Not sure how you guys figured it out but congrats to all involved in this project.

Yeah I'm not using the 1st page rosters neither. I'm using the 2k rosters from mid-November. I had an incredible game against the Cavs, but then blew out the Lakers (weird?).

strongly encourage you to lower the difficulty in the overall passing game, greenie. played one quarter already against the grizzlies and hawks again and my first quarter turnovers are at 10, grizzlies is at 8. it's almost impossible to make any other passes except ones straight to the person and a chest pass. no mid-air passes, no half court heaves, etc. i know those are difficult passes but the chances of those going through with these sliders is 0% right now. those significantly increase the number of turnovers per team. you say you like to look at the end of the game stats, so on top of the difficult passing w/ these sliders, one must also have to worry about getting it stolen when driving in the lane (jeff teague does not turn the ball over every time he drives in real life, but with these sliders he does). other than that, great sliders. just giving you some suggestions on further improvements of the slider set.

yeah man just finished my game lost by only 3 points to the grizzlies. joe johnson was absolutely HOT during the game. with 7 seconds left, in an inbounds pass, i control johnson to go in front of the inbound passer (bibby) and he passes it OVER his head and ends up in josh smith's hands so i just shoot a jumpshot and get fouled. i make 1/2 of the shots. seriously, these turnovers may look realistic on paper but the way they're happening in the game is not realistic at all. i can even make a video compilation of about 20 turnovers that are just stupid. the only people that can pass on my team are bibby and johnson it seems like. now it may make sense that only the two 'best' guards can pass, but how come jeff teague has 6 turnovers with 2 minutes of play? 3 of them were when driving in, the other 3 were from passes deflected/not caught/just overthrown during plays drawn up by the coach. i have no idea what to do about the turnovers from here. just strongly suggesting you make the passing a little more realistic. thanks.

Beat the Bulls 106-95, I was up by double digits untill they made a run in the 4th. With under 2 minutes left and down by 5, Rose missed 2 open layups in a row. Wall had 22 points 10 assists and 2 blocks. Mcgee had 14 and 10, marion had a double double as well. Forgot to post the stats before i quit, my bad

                              Anyone notice a trend?

Let me ask all of you above, what rosters are you using?

I'm kind of burned out on the game, especially the sliders. Don't know what I can do at this point.

The reason why I ask is this:

It's probably not the reason why FG% for the CPU is low. But, I have no idea why and I don't know if I have the energy to find out.

If the CPU just shot a reasonable percentage, the challenge would be back.

But, at this point, I can barely get through a quarter.

                                My guesses:

                                - Coach Profiles somehow trashed the CPU FG%
                                - Universal tendencies trashed the CPU FG%
                                - On-Ball D trashed the CPU FG%
                                - Help D trashed the CPU FG%
                                - 2k did something to the shooting success of all players in a recent roster update, which barely makes sense since humans are still shooting fine

I know the easy answer, but I don't want to do it. I prefer to fix whatever broke the set.
