Re: Sim-World Roster Project Sliders - CPU/CPU, Coach Mode, and Player Lock

Great cpu/cpu sliders. I always play coach mode. Cant wait for the association tweaks to be finalised so I can fire that up with the Nuggets. Does it matter that the gameplay settings use shot stick timing or is that irrelevant with cpu control?
A coach shares all the same highs, lows, victorys and defeats as the players. He just ends up fatter and balder.

Shot stick timing has no impact from the testing I've done.

Hmmm. I am finding the same problem with scoring percentage being lower than the other team (coach mode). 3 games in a row my Nuggets have had 34-39% field goals compared to 1. Nets-41% 2. timberwolves-42% 3. Suns-42%. They are not exactly good defences.

If this is the case, then that means the difficulty (All-Star) actually matters for the players on the User controlled teams. In that case, we'll have to use the Player Lock sliders for Coach Mode games.

          Will test this tomorrow.

Would these work for My Player? I've never played, but your rosters seem like they might make it tolerable, if not fun.

Once we finish all of the Association mode work I'm considering releasing a modified roster for use in MyPlayer Mode.

MyPlayer mode is drastically improved using our rosters, even more than other modes IMO, but the only problem is that our OVR ratings are mostly lower across the board for non-superstars and you can't control the draft classes that are brought into that mode. Because of that, we need higher OVR league-wide to get that mode playable for multiple seasons.

Also, the league would eventually become filled with the 2K generated players which all have atrocious tendencies and hotspots as far as I'm concerned. Gameplay will go downhill in a linear fashion each year until you're back to pretty much the default gameplay again after around 10 seasons.

Re: Sim-World Roster Project Sliders - CPU/CPU and Player Lock

Just played a game vs the Magic in coach mode. I upped blocking fouls to 35 and shooting fouls to 78, here were the results:

                Suns (me) / Magic
                Points 98 / 90
                FG 35/77 (45%) / 40/88 (45%)
                3P 8/21 (38%) / 9/31 (29%)
                FT 20/24 (83%) / 1/3 (33%)
                Reb 47 / 41
                Ast 18 / 22
                TOs 10 / 10
                Stl 6 / 9
                Blk 4 / 1
                Fouls 3 / 14

                Top Performers
                Suns
                Hill 23 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast
                Morris 14 pts, 9 reb, 1 st
                Nash 7 pts, 5 reb, 11 ast, 2 stl

                Magic
                Howard 27, 10 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl
                Richardson 17 pts, 7 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl
                Turkoglu 10 pts, 12 reb, 7 ast

                Summary
We finally got a win! I was lucky with Jameer Nelson out with an injury, with Duhon starting in his place. My strategy for the game was to make Howard beat me, so I allowed Gortat and Lopez to guard him one-on-one all game and had everyone else playing tight on the perimeter. In the first half, Howard played well, dropping 20 points, but we held J-Rich and Turkoglu both scoreless. In the second half, Howard didn't do as much damage, as Orlando began jacking up the 3s and didn't go to the post as much. The Magic pulled within 4 late in the game after a 3 pointer by Richardson, but it was answered by a fade-away by Nash, and the Magic never got closer. Great game!

                Impressions
Obviously, 3 FT attempts for the Magic is way too low (and only 3 fouls by the Suns). The Magic went to Howard often, and he only drew 2 fouls all game. Gortat and Lopez are both good defenders, but there should've been way more fouls with them trying to guard Howard 1 on 1. Other than that, it played very well, and I finally was able to have a decent FG%.

Also, based on watching the Suns in real life, I feel like Grant Hill has been shooting too many 3s with these rosters. He is much more of a pull up jumper shooter, but with these rosters he's been shooting 4-5 3s per game.

Next game is vs the T-Wolves!

Re: Sim-World Roster Project Sliders - CPU/CPU and Player Lock

Thanks for the consistent game details, they really help.

                  A few updates:

                  1. I've been testing Suns vs Suns in Coach Mode to see if there are any major statistical variations between User and CPU and so far the FG% has been about equal for both teams. I'll keep testing this to see if there are any slider changes that need to be made to account for the Difficulty setting (All-Star), but for now the game seems somewhat balanced.

                  2. Grant Hill's 3PT Shot Tendency was bumped into a higher bracket based on his overall Shot Tendency, but the Suns Coach Profile 3PT setting is what makes him shoot more 3PT shots than desired. I'll move him down 10 on the 3PT Shot Tendency from where he is now to account for that and also since last year was above his recent career 3PT attempt rate. This will be in the next release.

                  3. Changing Gortat to more of a catch and shoot player from Mid-Range instead of a pull-up shooter from Mid-Range will be in the next release.

I'll still have an updated Coach Mode slider set out this week so stay tuned!

Re: Sim-World Roster Project Sliders - CPU/CPU and Player Lock

OK. Ive been on an all nighter testing these sliders on coach mode.

Basically I am still seeing a consistent disadvantage in shooting % in my Nuggets v Nuggets games. (0ut of 9 Den v Den games my coach mode team has won just once).

Also, the scores themselves are sometimes blowouts of 15-25 points. All the other stats seem to match up pretty well. I have thought about the obvious like more FGA or disproportionate rebounds that may cause the score difference but they match up fairly closely as well. I'm particularly pleased with the fouls for both teams since upping a couple of the foul catagories as suggested. The odd player will realistically foul out from time to time.

I'm starting to think I am jinxed here. Especially after reading the last few posts.

Interestingly, I played a few coach mode games using yellz' sliders and found the shooting % very close between both teams. They were great games with constant lead changes. Good movement and close finishes. Some of the defensive sliders favour the user team. Perhaps the programming does treat coach mode control team like a user? I also notice clutch shooting is included. Could make a difference?

Finally, are you guys having a problem needing to go into coach settings and changing coach mode to "on" every game? I have it saved in the settings but it always resets. irritating.

If I undestand your Q correctly you want to know what you do in a game?
If so, you dont control the players, just the coaching functions during the game. Call plays, substitutions, TO's and gameplan etc. Funnily enough, like the coach.

                          A few alterations I made.

                          (Good base BTW)

COntact Shot Success: 15 (I saw too many and1's)

                          Loose Ball: 100
                          Reach In: 65
                          Over Back: 100

                          Tendency to Reach In: 65

                          Pass Accuracy: 44
                          Hands: 30

I am seeing the CPU with 10+ turnovers occasionally.
I am also seeing some reach in steals + fouls, something I didn't see before.

The lock player set works alot better then ronyell's set for me. Seeing good fouls, points are on spot. I had the prob with and 1s. Corrected it with the help of youALREADY. Tweaked the blocking foul slider to 20. And it fixed the issue. Also stamina to 48 and contact shots to 42(was seeing too many over the hand buckets). Will post some results later on. Playing on all star is a real challenge now, gotta play that D full time . Loving it so far.
