At this point, you should really do some testing of your own and get back to us. Play 4-5 games with your own adjustments and share your experience if you can. More detail on your results, the better.

As I said before, the gameplay at Pro will be different than the gameplay at All-Star. As these sliders are for All-Star only, the optimal results will only be seen if you use these on All-Star difficulty.

The CPU plays differently on different difficulty settings, so you have to make certain changes at each level to account for this.

I'm sorry my sliders don't work for the Pro difficulty, but I have only tested them on All-Star and I know that I have seen some very realistic results with them.

Do you have an update on your plans to create a scale for both "Look for Post Players" and "Run Plays" coaching tendencies.

This last addition could really make the game run as well as possible outside of a 2k patch.
I'm not sure if I will be making a scale for those values or not, but I do know that some teams need a little more tweaking for them to play correctly. I'll see what I can come up with.

i have not used anyone's sliders, i do my own, i just do not post them, from what jason says any level other than pro the AI gets boots by 5, which will max out sliders per player, thats great you are having good games, but im 100% positive its all about the individual player sliders, under edit, and coach profiles, general sliders dont do much if anything

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I think everyone in this thread who is seeing great results with just these general slider edits can vouch for the fact that they do make a difference.

well what i can do is try all-star and i will follow your sliders to a t and watch the com vs the com a few games to test the AI then i will play a few games, and if im impressed i will use yours, im actually liking my sliders a lot just have found flaws in the general slider system, i know you and mk and a few others put in hard work, but i just know coach profiles are the main reason for chnging game play, i will keep you posted

one thing also ecc, im not sure if you ever watch the 85 lakers play but they ran the fast break everytime off a steal/block/defensive board etc, so do lower the lakers from 100 fast break to like a 30 that is actually changing how they would play, that is my point about coach profiles,

Lowering the Fastbreak slider to 30 doesn't stop the CPU from running the fastbreak, it just stops them from always putting a quick shot up, even if the defense is set and right in their face.

If you want the team to be more aggressive on the fastbreak, bump them up 5 points or so. Or you could leave it at 100 and see how that works for you, but I'm guessing that they will always force up a shot regardless of the defense.

                    Status Update

After putting in a lot of time working on these sliders, I've come across a good deal of frustration and annoyance. 2k has apparently been sneaking in minor tuner updates alongside the various art updates they've been putting out recently. Because of this, progress on fine-tuning the sliders has become stagnant at best.

For these reasons, I am going to stop working on sliders for a few days and just try to enjoy the game.

However, I am still looking for feedback and suggestions. More specifically, I am looking for team-specific feedback. By "team-specific" I mean that I am looking for problems any of you have seen regarding a specific team or teams.

For example, I have heard that with the default Coach Profiles, the 76ers do not utilize Andrew Bynum as much as they should. These are the kinds of problems I would most like to hear about.

So if you notice that the CPU isn't utilizing a certain aspect of their team like they should be, or just that the CPU isn't accurately reflecting a team's real-life play style, let me know about it! Please be specific though, such as "Team X isn't using Player Y enough", or "Team X doesn't attack the basket/post up/run the pick n roll/set up screens for outside shooters/etc. often enough".

Please give me enough information so that I not only know what the team SHOULD be doing, but so that I know what the team is CURRENTLY doing that is incorrect.

Once my "break" is over, I will look to fix these problems as soon as possible. Feel free to PM me your issues or post them in this thread.

I will still be active here, and I may even make some on-the-fly adjustments to this set if I notice any in-game issues, but I won't be doing any in-depth testing for a few days.

I still care, I just feel like actually playing, doing some trades, and building up a team in Association mode for a while. I just want to enjoy the game for a few days before I go back to "working" on it haha

I share the slider frustration, and I'm also glad to know that when I stated a week ago that the art updates were screwing with the sliders that I wasn't just seeing things (even when some said I was crazy).

Also, I think something needs to be taken into account regarding the current rosters versus the old school rosters. The NBA was MUCH different 20+ years ago, so I don't see how anyone can develop a set of sliders for both current and historic rosters that are remotely the same. When working on 2K11 sliders I actually did a study of statistics from 1980 til now. I was amazed at the change of things around 1996 when scores DRASTICALLY lowered, where hardly any teams averaged above 100 PPG. (So when I use rosters from 1996 or later I lower the minutes played to 11 for the scoring adjustments). Just something I caught in the midst of this discussion...

But I've actually went back to playing 2K11 - and I just LOVE that game so much more than 2K13...

To the post above 2k11 is an amazing game. I still go back to it. 2k13 is tricky. If the sliders aren't balanced the game can get herky jerky. After a couple of days of using EM's sliders the game seemed to revert back a bit (CPU V CPU- perhaps due to updates). I've had to make more changes and actually dumb down the defense a bit to bring down instances of players bumping all into one another. With 2k11, that issue wa not nearly as prevalent. The problem with 2k11 is that it is difficult to implement the fast break. But in sum 2k11 is a really good game

Took me a year, but I've created a slider set for 2K 11 that plays amazingly fun - never the same, and through giving the cpu a HUGE boost in player quickness, was able to slow down the user dribble options that enabled me to blow by them on a continuous basis. but enough of this - not wanting to hijack the thread. Just get frustrated at how 2K13 seems to change every time I turn the game on...

You're not hijacking at all! I'm actually enjoying the discussion, and it's making me want to REALLY go back to playing 2k11. That game was the benchmark for basketball games, and somehow 2k has just failed to live up to its own creation.

And the sad thing about it is, 2k11 not only has the vastly superior gameplay, but they have the superior graphics and player models, too! The only thing 2k13 has over 2k11 is the control scheme and the animations.

The perfect basketball game would be 2k11 with 2k12's control scheme and 2k13's animations.
