You do realize the heat did nothing wrong.

Free agency has been around for ever.
Shaw went to the Lakers how?
Kg went to the Celtics only if they could trade for another star to be with Paul piece enter ray Allen. Hence the big 3 before the heat.

The bulls last run they got Dennis rodman who was a huge part of that championship run came in as a fa.

Not every team can be the spurs and draft their way to championships.

The NBA is a lot more competitive than it was 25yrs ago so free agency is key to winning it all these days.

The NBA has always had trucks. Used to be LAL and BOS. Then it was DET and then CHI. Then HOU while MJ served his two year suspension for gambling in MLB. Then it was SAS, and now it's MIA. It's still the same deal, nothing's changed.

When BOS had Ubuntu, it was the same thing. When it was Howard and Nash in LAL with Kobe, it was a good idea (in theory anyway). Of course they didn't have a Riley or Phil or Pop to make it work, so it imploded under Brown and D'Antoni.

Repeater tax. Look it up. The only person that isn't scared of it is Prokhorov. Even Cubes and Dolan want no part of that.

There's no way you have watched basketball for 30 years. I doubt anyone that has watched basketball for 30 years would ever say this.

I don't know what is wrong with him joining Miami, he has done nearly everything to help the cavs win a championship, but look what the cavs gave him. Players sign a 3 year rookie contract then the team that drafted have the option to extend that deal for another 4-5 years at more money than others can offer ( a players first huge payday). So players play through that deal and then bolt for a bigger market to team with other all stars. Recent examples are LeBron, Bosh, Dwight, Melo ( forcing a trade ), CP3.

Players that didn't do that and helped the teams that drafted them and helped the "nobodies" on their team to blossom into fellow stars include MJ, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, Duncan, Kobe. Even Dirk endured a lot of bad times in Dallas and he got his ring without having to bail on his team and take a short cut.

The reason for staying is completing your mission, the face of a franchise isn't supposed to QUIT after a loss he is supposed to come back and get it done. Like MJ did with the Bulls after losing to the Pistons year in year out. Like Dirk did for the Mavs. You don't say "F..K it, Im gonna go team up with other All-Stars"

So let's see Kobe had shaq which is the only reason he won his first 3 rings and again shaq came to LA via free agency. Kobe then was able to get pau gasol in what is still considered the biggest bs trade in NBA history when the gm of the Grizzles Jerry West (Lakers) sent gasol to them for a bunch of nobodies. Without gasol Kobe doesn't get those next two rings.

They key to dirk winning that championship against the heat was Tyson Chandler.

The 80's Celtics, pistons and Lakers and the early 90's bulls teams were just different times.

In today's NBA if you don't get key fa you don't win championships the spurs have done it the hard way and they haven't won it in a long time.

Lebron wanted to stay in Cleveland but nobody want to join him in that crap hole city. He asked bosh he said I'll play with you but not in Cleveland. So with James being great enough to get the cavs to the playoffs every year with no help the cavs would never get a great draft pick ala the spurs who had David Robinson and got Tim Duncan and he would never win a ring.

So he did the right thing and joined his best friend dwade!

MJ, magic, bird and all the players you listed above all have at least one other Allstar on the team when they won championships. Even dirk had like Kidd, terry, chandler... Lebron never got one except for mo Williams in that one year.

Nowadays, loyalty doesn't mean anything, paul pierce played for the celts for his entire career still got traded, no one says anything about shaq even though he played for like 6 different teams, even Kareem played for two different teams. There is nothing wrong with playing for different teams, that's what the nba is all about

The fact D Wade is your fave player of all time tell me how long you have been watching BBall.

Shaq joined LA when they were losing big time. Kobe was a just a high school kid with Raw talent. He didn't join up with another established All NBA player.

Dirk won that championship for Dallas by catching fire and playing the best BBall of his career at the right time. Tyson Chandler won DPOY that year and if anything elevated his game because of Dirks influence. And Tyson has been forgettable both before( Hornets/Bulls ) and after ( Knicks ) playing with Dirk. And Dirk Never Left the Mavs

Pau Gasol elevated from a good player to great because of Kobe challenging him everyday in practice. Memphis never got anywhere with him as their centrepiece so they traded him. And they got Marc Gasol and 2 first round picks, it worked out OK for Memphis. Kobe won 3 rings without Pau, Pau has won 0 without Kobe. Kobe never left Lakers.

Robinson got lucky when they drafted Tim Duncan. But he endured losing seasons and never left the Spurs.

The 80s/90s Lakers, Celtics, Bulls all have a common theme as well, their franchise players Bird, Magic, MJ never left for other teams to get their rings, they developed a locker room culture that nurtured good players to become great and FA players came to them.

Shaq is an exeption. His Ego got in the way everywhere he went. He left ORL because he was jealous of Penny, LAL jealous of Kobe, MIA jealous of D Wade.

To summarise Kobe, Dirk, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, MJ, Bird, Magic and even ya boy D Wade, all the players you used in your argument have one thing in common, they won their rings without running to someone elses team to get them.

not a lakers fan but if all these signings and teams were allowed then i believe cp3 should have been allowed to go to the lakers back in free agency a while ago but it was blocked by david stern
