Genuinely feel sorry when my average Seasons team beats up on a newbie that somehow got matched badly...

My question is how did he even win a game...

My guess is part of the reason for the mis-match might be the fact he isn't using his best 15 cards (i think another thread mentioned that as part of the match making formula so having commons to sub in your best players does nothing).

I actually tested that in my 2nd season and it made no difference (didn't bother with my 3rd or 4th season, actually got lucky with my first 3 season as for the most part they were even... 4th one... looks like i'll get to the semi-finals since i pretty much have a top 3 seed locked up unless i somehow get matched up with the 2nd best team who has been slacking and has a slightly over .500 record despite having a far better team than most).

The other part is just bad match making given the number of examples with big range differences. Really wish the match making would keep the range within say 400-500... even if it means longer wait times (i waited only 15-30 minutes for my 4th season, my 3rd season had wait time of ~2 hours but it was started in the middle of the night since that's when my 2nd season ended).

Its a sad fact that spending money on this game more times than not makes you feel embarassed, as if you have stupidly fallen for a con.
After 40,000 picks ( and 10 in a row season losses ), with no drafted legends ( just Pippen from RC ) I went against better judgement and bought 16 epic packs, stupidly beleiving the next pack would be a legend but no, 16 Epics. Guys like Marcin Gortat, Isiah Thomas ( The guy from the Kings ), Avery Bradley, Jeff Green ( wasnt he a Rare? ). Now I see that $400+ on my credit card bill and feel stupid. I couldve bought a console for that price.

This model of business is proving to be extremely profitable:

Rip off prices as never seen in the gaming industry combined with an impossible that can´t be reached.

People fall continually for it.

How many of us would play this game if it was not for being about NBA? And not even the stats are cohererent...

I dont beleive there is any real matchmaking. I doubt there is enough players to consistantly have enough people starting a season at the same time to assign them to different seasons.
My idea is have all seasons start on a Monday and run till Friday. That way everyone that wants to play a season will start at the same time and they can match Stats. Take away sub-ins ( thats what the inactive list is for ) and if you are matched with all similar decks you win or lose based on the order of categories and abilities. Not an ideal solution I know. The other option is have everyone above 3000-4000 wait until a suitable season arrises, and not dump 1 truck into an otherwise competitive season.
During rivals I played one game on the last day on my second account and was ranked around 60,000, which tells me there are around 60,000 people actively playing this game.

I play this "game" because I love the NBA, I used to collect NBA cards and i love video games so it hooked me straight away. But 5 months and several hundred dollars later I feel ive put to much time and $$ in to quit, but also feel like I jhave been conned. Because a game implies you have a chance. This "game" feels more like a gambling addiction, and the house always wins.

Tell me about it! I tried really hard I got up to 177 and the gap was just too large to move up plus my lu still wasn't winning 5pt games all the time so I stopped playing early Sunday morning.

I am not quite sure, maybe the profits would be even higher when the prices would be more reasonable. Of course they are a lot of people mindless blowing out their money, but on the other hand the majority of the players pay nothing or a lot less as than they would pay with reasonable prices. On the long run the actual business plan will fail, because a lot of player will just be pissed off by the prices combined with the horrible service. A lot of the big spender will also left when they have to restart their decks with my NBA 2k 15. So atm they will make a lot of money with this silly little game, but a lot of players will simply boycott games by CD and 2k in the future, because they want to play games without getting ripped-off. So imho they are just ****ing up the good names of their companies with stunts like this one. They are even worse than EA, congratulations!
