Even if no one starts, someone might finish.
Last season i had probably the 5th or 6th best team but it was close (close enough that i would have the best team after top 10 finish @ RC, and i get my reward just before the playoffs) but a 8-15 team decided to suddenly buy packs (i beat his team before he bought packs/changed his MVP to playoff James). He also bought game manager + team became 5500+ and didn't lose another game till the playoffs (against me in a fluke game @ semi-finals... was game 2, i didn't energize after game 1 and somehow won game 2).
Basically even if no one queues against you now, if you have a sub 4000 team, it only takes 3 or 4 packs to have a higher rating team and someone in your season might buy that if they see a chance of winning the season. Also the odds of no 4000+ teams in a queue is pretty low these days, last season i think 7 teams in my season had 4000+ teams (at least in the playoffs). Think legendary Pro CD to 151 - 650 had something to do with that (and epic drop rates probably too... i doubt everyone has my luck with duplicates so by now majority probably have full epic pro line-up which is close to 4000 too).Comment

Don't really think ATL deserves it considering they only got into the playoffs due to East being so weak. I would argue TWolves deserves it more and currently are likely more popular due to more star power right now. Also you left out Raptors who likely deserve it more than ATL too.
As far as playoff teams... the one after will likely be NBA finals theme (or the one after that) so this wouldn't be a bad time to go with historical teams... i.e. 76ers vs Pistons might work well considering those are 2 teams that had legends on them and both missed the playoffs. Of course Vince Carter (Raptors) could work too due to how popular he was and probably still is. LAC is the best team this season that didn't have one yet so they could work too... would be interesting to have #3 East vs #3 West while #1 vs #2 are going on in the CF (that's assuming OKC wins today or Sunday).Comment

A buddy bought 7 packs and got two, but I am sure it is like it is like 5-10%. I am considering buying two or three as I am looking for a center, but all I have ever bought were team packs and used them on teams like Brooklyn, Golden State and New Orleans.
Like I mentioned before, I would give my left arm for a playoff Dwight Howard and left hand for the legendary.2k16 My Team:
