Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
just wanted to add my 'pre-AH-thoughts', as it was mentioned, that CD likes to know them.
short comparison: I am concerned.
my history: I'm playing the game since myNBA2k14, I own nba 2k14, but I don't have 2k15 (I don't buy it every year, so I can be seen as a so called free player, this year).
I liked the game a lot for it's balance. Even if I don't buy cards or credits, I had the feeling, that I can compete with a lot of guys, who play as lot as me, or with guys, who invested some money to get some cards.
I owned some credits from the beginning, when it was possible for free players to play daily vc and from the ladder. I was stupid enough to spent the most of it for an allstar epic tyson chandler, 'cause I thought in the packs are normal epic-star cards, that can be combined with the drafted cards. My fault probably...
So I own 95 credits and I am 60000 games away from more ladder credits. That means that I have 4 chances to participate in the AH and earn enough credits to have another chance to use the AH (or more or less than 4 chances, if I don't use the AH in the beta...), if I don't want to spend real money (and I really don't).
All in all I think, the AH might change the speed of other players in enhancing their lineups. It might bring me the feeling, that I'm falling back, even if I play a lot. And this might bring me to the decision to stop playing the game.
But of course I'm looking forward, how it develops, maybe I'm to pessimistic...Comment

Re: Update 5 Release Notes and Auction House Beta
I think you bring up valid points, and I think, for all intents and purposes, treating the AH like paywall content is the best way as a free player to approach it.
You can either pay for the ability to use it, or were lucky enough that you didn't spend the two times you got free credits on things like packs or RC hotstreaks.
And it's kind of okay because the game can still be played for free, and you'll be matched against other players in a similar tier to you.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to disagree with you. I was a little surprised at NWGD's assertion that free players will have access from free credits they earned months before the fee-to-list was announced, that they (hopefully) didn't spend.
I try to keep strict about how much I spend on games (or I'll spend way too much for my own good), so I'm treating the AH as paywall content.
Seen from that perspective, it doesn't bother me. Let's be real here, this is just a variation of a freemium game.
Instead of speeding up timers, you're speeding up acquisition of good cards. The AH is an extension of that philosophy, with a twist: There's a (heavily regulated) economy.Comment
