how about the ladder rewards brad? are they improved? in this current app before we can get the rewards it would be useless to even put in QGs. plus rare enhancements when you reach 30+ thousand games? cmon man.

        Sounds interesting

As long as it's not a blatant cash grab game where you can only succeed by spending money then I'm excited to see the new system. Will definitely welcome some more decision making in the game.

Sounds like the game is making "the leap" from fun for all to cash only. Free players seem like they will not be able to attain too cards and pros. Even if you win a RC you still need the correct contracts (only attainable thru packs) to pro it. This may be the end of the free player able to keep up through grinding. Although the hints have already been dropped through the recent loyalty rewards, extension of RC, and 30% AH tax. I think I speak for more than myself when I say after a few days played I may be done with the game. But I'm a free player so I doubt they care. I wouldn't care about me either if I was them

Even if they are only obtainable through packs doesn't mean you have to spend money to get them. Maybe if you have to have them NOW, then yeah. As long as there's an AH then there will be plenty of opportunities to get them without opening your wallet. Even in this years version, I've bought several Greats packs at the full 14,000 credits price and it didn't cost me any real money. Everything we do in 2k15 involves several credits already anyway so I don't see it being a huge issue that you have to buy packs to get certain cards, we already do that now.

Plus hopefully they will be adding credit drops, or bigger credit rewards, bonuses etc.. throughout the game to make it all come together.

That's pretty much the same boat I'm in. I've only ever viewed 2K Mobile as a free companion app to waste time when I'm standing in a line somewhere or in-between jobs at work. If it requires more attention span than say, your average Pokemon game, I'm out.

I'm not sure why everyone is calling this the death of the free player. Without knowing the costs and taxes on anything this might allow for the same or better progression as you get this year and easily better than the progression you had in 2k14.

If this system actually gets cards to sell on the AH, then you can sell a few cards to get credits to get contracts and dupes for other cards. This game will always (and should always) be easier if you spend some money but without knowing about any of the other changes you can't really understand what the economy will be like.

Contracts, wild cards, etc. seem like an interesting way to mix it up. I'm looking forward to see what else they have in store.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Provided the AH economy is actually healthy, these changes revealed today sound like they would prolong the game. I don't think this heralds the "death of the free player" necessarily. But that's predicated on the AH working. Requiring many copies of the same card to make a Pro while also only requiring that one copy be fully leveled? That should generate more AH activity. Hopefully the tax is lower than 30% this time.

The issue with desirable things coming via packs is that it takes 100% of credits out of the economy compared to 30% with the AH. That's what's happened with greats cards. So the problem will be whether there's going to be enough credits in the economy to keep it healthy.

I don't think the AH tax will be lowered as they've mentioned it's them passing on the cut Apple/Google take onto us.

This change does take cards out of the economy though which is healthy. One of the biggest issues with the game is the oversupply of cards available.

I hope these loyalty rewards are worth it tomorrow. If not I won't really be worried about po cards anymore.

Will star contracts be worth it? I'm thinking that's what we're getting.

I don't know that for fact. I'm just guessing.

The reason I think this is because one of the CD guys said the loyalty rewards would not mean much without context. Well...now we have context.

Sure you can - but just because of the fact, that you worked the auction house pretty well. Which is fine, but even then, somebody had to buy those credits first.
The tax is making sure, that you always need a huge supply of new credits coming into the system.
And those credits have to be payed by real money, daily bonuses and season rewards don't help you at all. As you still need some credits to get through RTTC or RC and this will be barely covered by those credits.

I am totally fine with this - if credit prices would be reasonable - but in my eyes they are far away from typical micro transactions - as they charge you more than for a real game.
Buying 6500 credits for 50 Euro when you could get a Game like GTA V? Which was actually developed by hundred of people over years - this is not what I would call micro transactions.

We are talking about virtual cards (which will be useless within a year) - and some tapping on a screen - the key factor is actually the NBA license and not the quality of the product (Perkins GOAT Rebounder / bugs / rewards system / ...)

And if I read through those changes I see a big $ sign right in front of me.
Just be hypothetical how many dupes did you get from your boards and season rewards? Most of us played thousand of games (sometimes just over the weekend for an RC card) and I'd looked into my history - the percentage of dupes "for free" are smaller than the current interest level from banks :P

Imagine - now you need 6 - or less if you buy packs.
If you want that foil version this gonna be a real pain, as they are even more hard to acquire.

Just as a reminder - look at those pack prices. Let's assume you want to get that Michael Jordan Great card - you can either spend 800 $ or you can work the auction house and try to generate 156000 credits - as you need to cover the tax.

Pack prices were never reasonable over the lifetime of this game - 10000 credits for a random HoF card, while you get it for 5000 on the AH?
And many more examples - this is only showing their inability and therefore I am not hoping for any great changes. They are pointing into one way - and I doubt that they will find the balance.

They are simply not interested in it - as long as there are enough guys who spend ridiculous amount of money into it.

"To foil somebody" seems the new era!
