Me and My boy rated both with 40 categories

Im gonna do too much yappin'...I bought LIVE o7 360 today and my boy bought 2k7 for the 360..as I write this its 12:30 am eastern..we have spent close to 8 hours playing both..We had two tv's set up in him living room and we played all damn day. Here is our down the middle ratings in 40 categories plus we game bonus points for certain things. each category is a point

    -animations(2k7)
    -player models(LIVE)
    -Jersey animations(Live)
    -Sweat(Live)
    -Ball Physics(2k7)
    -Rim Physics(2k7)
    -Commentary(Live)
    -Arena Sounds(Live)
    -The Court Graphics(Live)
    -Refs animations(2k7)
    -Coaches(Live)
-Menu System(Live)(that gym is something special)
    -Presentation(during game)(2k7)
    -Soundtrack(Live)
    -Game Modes(2k7)
    -Shooting Controls(Live)
    -Passing Controls(Live)
    -Shooting animations(2k7)
    -Passing animations(2k7)
    -Dyanasty Mode(tie)
-All Star Weekend vs 24/7(Live)only because the 2k7 story thing is stupid.
    -Customization(sliders and things like that)(2k7)
-Player Ratings(Tie) We said tie because Live is way more detailed than 2k7 but 2k7 has more accurate ratings.
-No Ice skating on the floor(Live)
    -Camera Options(2k7)
    -Defensive A.I.(Live)
    -Offensive A.I.(2k7)
    -Off Ball A.I.(2k7)
    -Fast Break(Live)
    -Dunks(2k7)
    -Amount of diffrent dunks(Live)
    - Dribbling(2k7)

    -Post Moves(2K7) by a little
    -Play Calling(2k7)
    -Subsitutions(tie)
    -Crowd Reaction(LIve)
    -Hair Physics(Live)

    Bonus Points for Live(4 points)
-The Practce Gym is off the chain..nuff said.
-The ESPN integration is great..there are updated every 20 minutes.
-The players have acutal body weight...they dont slide...just about every joint has motion. EA is gonna be on top again in a couple years if they can make their presentation and animations catch up to the player models and the body weight they carry.
-The Freestyle Controls when mastered is the best between the two games. We agreed on that rather quickly.

    Bonus Points for 2K7(5 points)
-The signiture style is so good....its crazy how that looks when every player has their shot..its very sexy.(until you get a close up of MANU GINOBILLi!!!)
just watching Ray Allen shoot that quick skip jumper is amazing. Ben Gordons crazy lookin jumper is fun as hell to shoot off the screen(in LIve too)
-The overall thing with the cheerleaders and the Mascot and all that other stuff is great.
    -The halftime show
    -Online options are very deep
-The steam line cut scenes..I cant even call then cut scenes cause the camera just zooms in and out according to whats going on. Another sexy feature

after we did the tally it came out like this.

    NBA LIVE 2007(360) 24 points
    NBA 2K7(360) 26 points

EA closed the gap in a hurry cause alot of us was really pissed for two weeks with no new videos or anything. This is our opinion...we dont have a prefrence at all.I will be borrowing his game next week and he will borrowing mine. We love basketball games. If this little rating system helps anybody out there thats great. I understand there are die hards for 1 or the other.

    peace

Re: Me and My boy rated both with 40 categories

This is why I love OS. 95-98% of the cats on here just like good basketball. I'm sorry, love good basketball. I have already made my own assement of the game, but this rating thread is very cool. And it seems unbiased and fair. That's what I like to see. And it's hard to get that over in the IGN forums. Nice thread guys.
I will do today what you won't, so tomorrow, I can accomplish what you can't.

Yeah but Live seems kinda choppy still whereas 2k7 looks smooth. it might be the same engine but it's made playable NOW

I like the comparison. Hopefully someone else and their friend does the same things and we can see how those results compare too.

Re: Me and My boy rated both with 40 categories

Thanks for breakdown I have no problems with anything mentioned.

Although I will say Live actually has outstanding dribbling animations they just have to be performed manually. Some of 2K's are automatically triggered without the human doing anything so that's good because it user friendly. It not good sometimes because Eric Dampier was doing it for me as if he was my PG or something. I'm not sure why they allowed a guy like Dampier to be effective dribbling between his legs but he did it and I was baffled.

Other than that good job andd welcome to the forums. I just love basketball like someone else stated and don't particulary care for all the extra drama over who's better and who's not. Just let me play the game without hearing a bunch of non-sense because of who made the game.

glad you brought that up about big men dribbling...In 2k7 them guys should not be able to do what I was doing. I was doin' all kinds of moves with Chris Kamen when I played with the Clippers. he wasnt really goin any where but he looked like a point guard. In Live tryin that with a big man that cant dribble will have the ball goin the other way. Gasol, Garnett, Marcus Camby a little bit and Brad Miller are a few guys you can do a quck cross over with and a lay up and it looks natural cuase they dont have quickness. Dirk is another kind of animal in that game...hes got it all but...he can get caught in double teams when hes dribbling.

You'd be surprised that those guys can actually do those moves in real life. The key here is that the CPU didn't try those moves. And, can they easily be stripped if some user was trying it. I think that should determine whether it is realistic or not....

On the other hand, I doubt that Kaman can do those moves in real life..... LOL

I have started a dynasty with the Atlanta Hawks. Trying to fix Billy Knight's mess is going to prove to be a daunting task. But, it gets you off to a good start considering the fact that you can redo the 06 draft. I was glad I could pick a point guard for the Hawks. JJ Redick fell to the second round and I took him then to back up Joe Johnson. Anyway, I like that you can assign playing time to your players. And you're going to need it. We can't shorten the length of the season. It's 82 games and no fewer. That means that we have to sim a good number of games. You can assign playing time, but you can't set first, second, and third scoring options. You can assign development time to your players, but they don't have interactive drills to improve your players like 2K7 does. I think that would be a good thing for Live to add to their game next year. Also, EA should add three team trades to the dynasty mode. It only makes sense. Player chemistry is cool, and it adds another factor in when you decide to make trades. I don't know yet if players can demand trades, but they might considering that I have a few players unhappy about playing time. So far I have been enjoying the dynasty mode. I have yet to sim a game. I will see how that works out soon. Any more questions about the dynasty mode, ask away.
