best thread since I have been here. I already have 2k7 and love it, best bball game I ever played, but the life long ea bball fan in me still wants to see a great nba live. glad they improved it this year.

List like these are dumb and useless after 1 day of play. It would be more credible to make comparison of a game lets say maybe after 3 to 4 days, too discern all the nuances. This reaks of knee-jerk reaction to make a post.

Dude, you need to chill. Lists like this can help someone decided which game to get even if it's 1 or 2 days worth of play. The guys were trying to help others out, but I forget that you jump on people all the time around here, especially in the PS3 thread.

I have started a dynasty with the Atlanta Hawks. Trying to fix Billy Knight's mess is going to prove to be a daunting task. But, it gets you off to a good start considering the fact that you can redo the 06 draft. I was glad I could pick a point guard for the Hawks. JJ Redick fell to the second round and I took him then to back up Joe Johnson. Anyway, I like that you can assign playing time to your players. And you're going to need it. We can't shorten the length of the season. It's 82 games and no fewer. That means that we have to sim a good number of games. You can assign playing time, but you can't set first, second, and third scoring options. You can assign development time to your players, but they don't have interactive drills to improve your players like 2K7 does. I think that would be a good thing for Live to add to their game next year. Also, EA should add three team trades to the dynasty mode. It only makes sense. Player chemistry is cool, and it adds another factor in when you decide to make trades. I don't know yet if players can demand trades, but they might considering that I have a few players unhappy about playing time. So far I have been enjoying the dynasty mode. I have yet to sim a game. I will see how that works out soon. Any more questions about the dynasty mode, ask away.

the drills in 2k are only for a temp boost right? like last year? I love the redo of the draft.. you better believe that the sonics are not drafting another 7 foot project.

I really want to know how players develop and decline...

I havent owned a Live title since the PS1 days...after the first 2K game came out I was hooked. However yesterday I bought LIVE 07...I havent opened it yet cause I have been reading EVERY impression on this website.
I know 2K is an awsome b-ball game but within the past couple of years I have become bored with it. I dont know the exact reason, but playing it last year didnt really keep my interest, it just seemed "dry" to me.

Anyway...this thread has made me "almost" want to open Live and dig in,,I am not one of those people who buy 2 b-ball games (learning both control systems and time to play) so its either one or the other.

My only concern is the comments on Live not being "smooth". You see some on here say Live IS smooth while others say its "herky-jerky",,, how can somthing you see with your eyes be debated...is it jerky or not??!!

Nice List i would only disagree with the fact i think 2k has better jersey animations and player models. I guess 2k got lazy wit the white dude faces. lol

I agree. I think Live only looks good when it is standing still and zoomed in. And the courts?
The floor boards in Live look like they are painted on some ice. When the game is in motion i don't care what anyone says. It looks like crap. This is exactly why EA is not gonna fix this stuff we give them a pass every year. This is the reason no one has a reviewable copy. This game is a terrible excuse for a Second Generation 360 game. EA deserves no praise for this game.

EA deserves plenty of praise for this game. It is obvious that they have made an attempt to get better. And it is better than last year's version. It's not perfect, but neither is 2K7. And 2K7 is a great game. It is also clear that EA has taken into consideration a lot of the comments, and requests that people had after last years game. They didn't address all of the issues, but they addressed a good number of them. They also deserve some time to put together a next-gen game, this is only the second on a brand new system. They'll only get better. No one is giving them a pass, we are just glad that they are clearly putting forth some effort to improve.

Yezzir you can redo the 06 draft. You can try and make the kind of pick you feel your team should have made. I.E. the Hawks needing a point guard desperately. You can fill that void, unlike what they did in real life. I'm glad I am a Suns fan too.

Its all well and good that the categories were rated, but all those features are useless for both games if gameplay isn't there, and if it has a resemblance to NBA basketball. Does it make sense that you get 1 point in gameplay and then 1 point in hair physics? See the flaw in this type of rating?

EA does not deserve a pass on this game. So what if they took "great strides" to make the game better. They have no choice, they're sales get lower each year because 2k puts out a better game. Someone said it earlier, this is their 2nd generation basketball game but the ball physics and dribbling animations were motion capped by a crab. Even worst, you're 10 feet from the rim and you shoot a super arcing shot WIDE OPEN.

And we're talking about EA HERE, the leader of sports, the guys that thought up of "if its in the game, its in the game"

I just hope that 2k doesn't fall into the same shoes as EA. if a 2k dev is reading this, if EA does put out a better game than you, i will go to the better game. I hope 2k fans don't become the fanboys like the EA drones who buy live rehashes year in and year out.
