Re: ITS OFFICIAL: NO LIVE FOR PS3
Here's a response on programming:
"It appears there isn't any type of concensus regarding the programming difficulty of Sony and IBM's upcoming Cell processor. From the article: 'Although few doubt the relative power of the Cell microprocessor, many have expressed concern over the chip's asymmetric design, which makes programming for it a potential disaster ... One such man was 3D artist Josh Robinson, who was fired from his position at Sony just weeks after making a public, negative comment about PlayStation 3 development on his Internet blog"
Porting over is essentially what many programmers (games) did with PS2 to Xbox and so now I'm hearing more of a reversal this time with Xbox 360 ported to PS3. Leading to the same dilemma in the past. Not exercising all the capabilites of the most powerful unit.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: ITS OFFICIAL: NO LIVE FOR PS3
Slightly OT but from what I'm reading the PS3 launch has the potential of being a train wreck. Apparently a lot of stores aren't getting anywhere near enough to cover pre-orders and the number of PS3s available at launch may be only 150 - 200K in the U.S. That's a lot less than MS had at launch for the 360 which set the previous bar for screwed up console launches. So don't count on seeing any on the shelves for Christmas.Comment

Re: ITS OFFICIAL: NO LIVE FOR PS3
Umm... this year's Tiger on the 360 definitely plays unlike any Tiger in the past.
As for Madden, it's definitely on a new engine, and a better one at that. The game plays great for a snoozefest.Comment

Re: ITS OFFICIAL: NO LIVE FOR PS3
Here's an impression from 2k sports director on why no NBA Live for PS3:
GS: What are your initial reactions to EA canceling the PS3 edition of NBA Live 07, and why do you think your rival passed on it this year?
EW: I think it's a clear indication that NBA Live was not a quality product and it could not compete in the marketplace with a clearly superior title. Rather than suffer any further damage to the brand, they chose to kill the game and regroup for next year.Comment
