I was going to pick this up today, but after reading this Pared you just might have saved me $60. It seems like there more not so good then good. Your opinion on dynasty mode made me think twice about getting LIVE.

Depends on what you really wanna do. playing a season with NBA Live 09 ain't all that bad,but it IS bland. the dna feature the way you can track players performance is good. This game will need to played seriously for like 3 days before you feel comfortable with the control system. then when you do. it can be a very good "basketball" game. And remember now NBA live 09 based off last years NBA Live 08 is a really a BIG improvement.But Pared's a very good judge when it comes to this game. he's seen in it early on dev and now can make fair and honest opinions on it with the final retail. i agree with many things he's said(including the editing) but it's really only after playing nba live 08 where I can give the highest recommendation.

Are there any kind of sliders that would affect the QSAB Pared? That will help us remedy the use and abuse aspect of it?

well i never UNDERSTOOD fakeout discipline so...

maybe a global edit of dribble speed?

Ah... you think that it ties into Fakeout Discipline? I can see that. I always looked at that as the Headfake,pumpfake sort of deal, but yeah, i can see Quickstrike being tied in there as well.

Is there a defensive help or weakside help slider that would help clog up the lane if you beat your defender?

Yeah same here! I was going to get it too, I might go refund my reserve and just rent it.

Especially, since my favorite player in the whole world, player model looks like crap and nothing like him.

I'm so disappointed! Especially with all the hardcore pressing and hype I was pushing for it, with the efforts made in Live 08. My hopes and expectations, just took a nudge!

To be fair, there aren't too many dynasty modes that impress me. I really like The Show's mode... Madden way back in the day.

The gameplay is worth a shot though. If you enjoyed the demo you will certainly enjoy the full game. It's much, much better! My issue is once the "glitz" wears off... will the game have substance. I'm not so sure. But I definitely am enjoying my time with the game right now. I just think this sort of thing needs to be mentioned. At first, it's a joy seeing everything new, since there is a good amount of stuff there. But when you really settle down and become more familiar with everything...

There are plenty of sliders and ratings edits that may possibly remedy these sort of things; I haven't spent too much time looking into them though. I did find my issues with the ESP blocking ability of the CPU fixed via sliders.

Guys, don't be disappointed; Try it yourself. There's a lot of good here... but it's not going to be the perfect basketball game out there.

And some of you have played NCAA BB 09 (Tomba)

Will I like NCAA BB 09 more than Live, and will Live 09 take me away from playing Madden 09 and NCAA Football 09?

If that answer is yes, then its definitely a day one purchase. If not its a rental for Live.

I would gladly play this over EA football. HAPPILY.

I keep saying the game is fun... and there is certainly enough here to tweak it to enough of a simulation game. There are just some rough edges with the gameplay that will bother me over time against the CPU.

On a positive note, I like the amount of touches and such most of the teams are getting. Stars are being fed the ball more so than in previous years... I actually feel TP and TD play more like themselves in a 2 man game here than in 2k9... just slightly, but enough to notice.

EA Football was good this year, my 5 year beef with them is gone.

So I'm trying to give Live the benefit of the doubt, I am one of the few who really enjoyed 08. So I was looking forward to it. But they ruined my man Kobe for real. I'm so angry about that, they need to really patch in a new model of him. Because the current one is horrendous.

lol I've already given my take on most of the player likenesses... Dirk... lol...

I don't see how you can enjoy EA football, but if you can enjoy that and '08, you'll definitely enjoy this one more. I put EA football in the same class of sports titles as Live '08 and MLB 2k8: Sure, there's some good there... but for the most part, the game is severly disappointing but there's a solid foundation in place.

Live '09 builds upon that. The game feels like it's a year away from truly competing with 2k's products. In some ways, they do that this year already like with the play-calling.

Oh, one thing that really annoys me:

You can't "D" up on the inbounder without calling a full-court press after a made shot. Defensively, your PG gets sent back to the other half of the court and you can't bring them up manually until after the inbounds pass is made. I really don't understand the logic in this, especially given the amount of control added to this year's game.

For those that don't know, there is also a quick inbounds after a made shot by holding the pass button down, similar to 2k8/9. I don't think that was in last year.

Have there been any NBA great teams added this year? Or any all-time great players?

Is the rebounding better than 08? And how are the rim physics with the ball? Last year the shooting just seemed off.

NCAA 09 IS better than NBA Live 09 gameplay-wise. I can see where they changed many gameplay elements from nba live to NCAA for the better
