Re: DNA updates
unless there was a realtime dynasty mode feature, i dont see how that would be possible. it really defyes common sense imo.. imagine hearing that Randolph gets injured in real life. youre the knicks playing, they will have to either replicate the injury happening or say he was injured after you play... what about tendencies and ratings.. imagine youre chris paul and you CONTINUE to drive during the entire franchise mode, but in real life, he developes a three pt shot.. It just doesnt make sense what they apparently were offering to us
I would also pay $19.99 a year to renew this service as opposed to buying a new NBA Live every year for $59.99.Comment

Re: DNA updates
that would be kinda difficult because, wouldnt you have to play one game a day? lolComment

Re: DNA updates
No. If tendencies or "DNA" were updated daily for franchises, then most likely you wouldn't drive during the entire franchise. Chris Paul would develop as he would in real life. So it would make sense. Or, you could simply play how you want; but your opponents that you face would have similar tendencies to those in real life. Who wouldn't want this? If somebody off the Bulls bench becomes a star, I want to see this when I play the Bulls in my dynasty.

but im controlling chris paul and his fate. how can his tendencies CHANGE to being three point driven, like in a real life case, when I ahvent developed that in my game.. that defyes logic. why even play games if its gonna be exactly like real lifeLast edited by RubenDouglas; 10-09-2008, 10:18 PM.Comment

Re: DNA updates
Honestly, i understand the disappointment, but the logic in it tearing your franchise into shreads doesn't really make sense.
Im sure they'll try to find a happy medium, say you sink or swim, choose updates that randomly happens to you as they do in the NBA and you have no control over what you should be able to control, or decide to turn that off and just play as we've been doing.
The more I think about it, that might seem to be the only way to make any sense and even then its a mess because as mentioned above, are you going to play a game a day or sim several games each day? Really?Comment

Re: DNA updates
I can't believe people are complaining that the DNA updates can't be implemented into your franchise...
It's impossible to do folks.
Why? Because every. single. one. of your franchises are different.
Think about it...if in your franchise you have traded Yao Ming to the Knicks, how could they possibly implement a run and gun game for them? In your franchise the Knicks should now be a half court team built around Yao.
Everyone's franchise is different. Real world DNA and rosters can't exist as you'll all make different trades for your own teams.Comment

Re: DNA updates
I hate to keep this going guys, but I am still confused about one aspect.
I UNDERSTAND that the game does not update during franchise in accordence to what is happening in real life.
What I want to know is once I start my dynasty, can I (by the way I play the game) influence a players progression or "DNA" in FRANCHISE ONLY????
If I make Rasheed Wallace more of a downlow player, will the FRANCHISE make Sheeds tendencies (in FRANCHISE ONLY) to be more of a low post player?
Again, I understand how DNA works, I just want to know if the game will adapt in franchise/player progression to your personal tendencies with certain players.
More so than thte game tracking user tendencies as stated above, I was wondering if during franchise cpu players will develop new tendencies. Example, Oden has a great game against me and develops a nice mid range shot- will his mid range ratings/tendencies go up in franchise mode?

Re: DNA updates
Well now that it's been confirmed that DNA updates don't impact your season or franchise I definitely won't be buying this game. Good thing I checked the forum as I was just about to head out to the store.
I agree with what a lot of folks here are saying - this much hyped feature is definitely useless to me if it only applies to exhibition or online game modes. It is probably the most advertised new feature this season but it impacts two modes that I will never play.
As to how it could work in my dynasty? I don't think there is a way it could but it definitely could work in a season mode - allow me to explain.
Let's say Chris Paul suddenly becomes the best three point shooter in the league. When the EA DNA update gets downloaded, Chris Paul's three point attribute adjusts to reflect what's going on in the league.
Now sure, if I am in year 10 of my dynasty I could see how this might be weird since obviously I would expect CP's attributes to decline once he gets older. But EA could have implemented a SEASON mode where the user can opt to have DNA updates put into play.
It doesn't necessarily have to include trades and injuries (although that would have been nice) but at the very least it would be cool if the player attributes change.
I can definitely see the difficulties in doing this for a franchise mode, but in a season mode it could definitely work. Maybe even have it so that if the user choses to have DNA updates, then things like injuries, trades etc. are automatically disabled.
I really hope that one of these sports companies decides to implement a TRUE living roster/DNA system for a season mode. Seeing a major star getting trading and then having your franchise or season be totally out of date really sucks! Or how about a hot rookie rated 78 suddenly turning into a beast? If you start a season/franchise you're kinda screwed since that player will have their original attributes.
Here's hoping for next year!Comment
