Re: DNA updates
you can choose to start your franchise at any point in time and even with the current DNA update, but once you start, it's your franchise and not based off of the real NBA season.Follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/stephensonmc

Re: DNA updates
As I mentioned in the roster thread, we had one update on day one and I think when compared to other games, you'll find some hidden gems like Goran Dragic, Rudy Fernandez, Sun Yue and Hamed Haddadi that you may not find in the other games.
Is it perfect? No, but in the thread in the NBA LIVE roster forum, we're discussing accessory changes. The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: DNA updates
the truth speaketh the....
thanks man
so the dynamic dna feature is really only for exhibition games?
sucks.
the main trigger point for me deciding on a game was the dna feature.
but if its COMPLETELY non existent in franchise, no go for me.
not sure why it can't update teams tendencies during a franny. I mean, if all of a sudden gallinari for the knicks becomes a ROY candidate after two months and is lighting it up as the three point maven, he will still be stuck at his same dna all throughout my season?

Re: DNA updates
For example, I am the Lakers and am playing the Cavs. LeBron goes off on me and is able to drain 7 threes in the game- will LeBron become a better 3 point shooter within the dynasty. If Kobe suddenly becomes a great pick and roll player because I use it a lot will this update in dynasty. Will in dynasty season DNA be a factor, or is there no progression at all DNA wise in dynasty?
Thanks.Christian McLeod--EA Sports NBA Live/Madden NFL Producer

Re: DNA updates
I kinda understand but if you do it your way then franchise guys get pissed. A franchise to the core is taking the NBA at one time period and creating an "alternate world"...Your Knicks in Franchise mode could have different players than the real life Knicks...How do they really integrate something based on the real NBA with something that has its own trades, injuries, etc? By year 2 there's no way to integrate at all. I can't really hate on them here because I'm not sure what we want makes sense.
on a side note, this is from an interview with an EA Live producer....
"Can a roster move affect a player’s DNA composition?
Matt Lafreniere: Yes. It really depends on the actual player and how he’s doing in particular aspects of his game, as well as his gel with the team and its philosophy. If you take a player like Kobe Bryant– he is going to perform in a way similar to how he does now with the Lakers. But if he all of a sudden gets traded to the Knicks, his game is going to change because his role is going to change. A real-world example of this is when the Suns got Shaq. Initially, the move wasn’t really working as-planned, so the team had to resort to a new style of play. The same can happen in NBA LIVE 09, where a player’s individual DNA changes in respect to the team he is playing with.
Is there one aspect or area of NBA LIVE 09 that really plays differently due to the DNA system working in the background?
Matt Lafreniere: We notice the biggest differences in the shot taking and play calling. If you take a team like the Celtics, the system ensures that Garnett is going to get an appropriate amount of shots, Ray Allen is going to get his shots and Paul Pierce will get his shots too. But let’s say that Paul Pierce goes out of the lineup; that shot distribution dynamic is going to change things quite a bit with player and team DNA in place. KG will now get more shots, so shot distribution will obviously be affected, but the play calling will also change in order to fill the gap."
so, this works where? only in exhibition games?Last edited by neuroticomic; 10-09-2008, 12:06 PM.Comment

Re: DNA updates
In exhibition games and if you start a new franchise with the new DNA. I still don't understand why you'd want Kobe to change because in your Franchise he's still with the Lakers, not the Knicks, so it just doesn't make logical sense. Same with team tendencies. You could trade Kobe for Kwame Brown in your franchise, so the Lakers tendencies would be drastically different in your franchise vs. real life. There's no correlation.
I agree in theory and it'd be fun to have some sort of season mode that would update with DNA too, but that will have to be separate from franchise because franchise has player progression, trades, etc that pull it away from real life DNA.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

understood.
but, can't single player and team style dna change in a franchise?
like if kobe got hurt in my franchise, when i play against the lakers, shouldnt they play differently? Will they, without a dna change or will the shooting guard replacement get the shots?
also, what i in live 09 mike d gets fired, do the knicks keep his style with a generic coach?
i am just worried that sya for example paul pierce gets hurt and his back up is a scrub and HE gets all the same shots paul did, instead of Garnett, like it should be.
just looking for some back and forth discussion.
i am not arguing.

You make a great point and I hope (not sure) that your franchise DNA evolves on its own based on the games you play. I'd want the Lakers to change too if Kobe broke his leg.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: DNA updates
If you want updated DNA in franchise you'll have to start a new one. This is the first year and neither game has implemented changing people's franchises on them with what has been implemented.
I can understand how this is something neither company wanted to mess with, again its the very first year its implemented.
I understand what youre saying but its not feasible for the masses to do what you're saying right now.
If a player got injured in franchise, im sure the CPU would continue to run plays through the players that most fits that scheme. If Kobe hurt his ankle again, Pau is still there, Bynum is still there, and Lamar is still there.. they'd definitely get more touches in their spots of course.
I don't think this computer logic is dumb enough to start giving sasha all of Kobe's shots when it was never encoded to do that.Comment
