No, because 2k's game in the wrong hands is equally unenjoyable.

that is true ... you know i sometimes wonder why they allow the game to be like that out of the box? don't they see that it's not balanced? it's too easy to dunk and score inside?

and i don't like that they don't offer feedback to the fans. i wish there was an Ian at 2K that we can direct our concerns to and be heard.

I must agree with the poster.. Live09 feels refreshing to me this year..something new to the table with its plethora of features..its heads above what 2k9 is offering...when we compare "total packages"...more bang for the buck i guess you can say because you would be just fine with simple roster updates for NBA2k7 and NBA2k8 if you really dont have the cash for NBA2k9, honestly. While Live09 is nothing like last years or recent Live offerrings.

But for me..thats not the only reason why im gonna stick with live09 this year (yes i have both games) ...the framerate issues in NB2k9's selectable camera's kills it for me..hands down. I like the 2k camera and some stadiums it just affects the gameplay..now if the framerate didnt affect the gameplay then its a diffrent story but the fact of the matter is it does and i HATE any sideline view camera which is what they use as their default camera... and probably why they removed the 2k camera away from NBA2k9's online mode..bercause the unstable framerate with the 2k camera would probably be 10x worse online.

Look guys..im not taking away from NBA2k9's polished gameplay, awesome graphics and smart AI..its all good and if we talk about just those elements and compare them to Live09's same elements.. 2k9 hands down, gets the nod ..and it should, its had a solid foundation to build apon for years now while live09 this year is in its "rebuilding year" and to be honest.. *** **** Live09 is one damn fine game for being in its "rebuilding year"... you 2k fanboys..watch out for next year.. there's a new sheriff in town...lol

Ok but seriously.. NBALive09 is FUN and EXCITING to play ...there's no doubt about it. You see im not a fanboy of any game..i just go what feels good to me and what feels FUN and EXCITING and as a HUGE 2kfan such as myself..i hate to say it but im having more fun with Live09 this year...maybe its because im just getting tired of the NBA2k series pretty much being the same for the last 3 years while Live09 feels like a fresh new game? I dont know but im sure thats a big reason why im sticking with Live09 this year.

And no need to get all uptight about people saying Live09 is a good game this year...for one, IT IS and two..it will make NBA2k10 a much bigger better game next year..competition is a GOOD THING.

Oh by the way..you 2k fans..if you ever get it in you to try live09... and you like the 2k camera in nba2k games..TRY BASELINE LOW camera in Live09..lts PERFECT!!!

Most of the guys that play this game just seem to be interested in running around and dunking all day. ESPN Top 10 status! Baller!

You have to cater to both crowds.... but 2k is finding a better balance than Live is right now. They (EA) are getting there though.

I think 2k has had more time with working on it. I have no idea what EA was doing in 06 and 07 especially. Wow that was just wow.

Im not sure Live is just a fresh new game though, because you could say the same thing about NBA 09 but it being a different game isn't driving people to it.

There are some solid fundamental things in NBA Live 2009 that people like, and its probably the things that you feel is the reason you keep wanting to play but can't figure out why.

They do have a clue about basketball, it just wasnt being put to good use.

I mean 2k sports hasnt had probably half the resources that EA has had, and after 2k4, 2k5 EA should be way ahead of everyone. Who's fault is that?

Now if EA will work on their game and listen to us and work with us to help make the game great, im willing to buy a product I can trust.

I waited for 2ksports the same way, and people have the perception that they do care what the fans think and feel and it seems they try to give it to us. That goes a long way with fans. Long way.

I just wanted to chime in. I was the one who started this thread and after having this game for a week I think I may be sold. If I had never picked up a basketball game before and I was going to choose one game then 2K would definitely be the game BUT being a 2K guy for so many years it just seems very similar to years past and LIVE is completely different and FUN. It's far from perfect and the graphics/animations are much better in 2K (in my opinion) but this game just feels fresh.

I think people have 2 great options this year but I think this game is definitely a purchase for me this year.

I feel the same way. I picked up live for the same reason and I was nervous before I opened the box. The moment I put it in and I played my first half I was happy. This damn game is just to damn fun and I get into all of them win or lose. Seems like only a few open minded people will enjoy what Live has to offer this year.

Id rent it 1st. Ive learned thats the best thing to do w/these bball games.
I just got NBA 09 The Inside. I like it alot. You wont have to worry about getting killed..Gameplay is quick and real, graphics are strong, Id check it out before Live.
They have a sweet mode on there called "The Life" you play along and build up a player. Almost like a story and you can put him on your franchise team.

I've had 2k9 since last Monday and because of the frame rate issues on my favorite cameras (in some arenas) and because of so many people touting the "Fun" factor, I wanted to try Live.

Now I actually bought Live first last year (08) and actually enjoyed it (also owned and enjoyed 2k8).

So I bought Live 09 as well last night and I'm just not feeling it yet. Hard to put my finger on it whether it's the cameras are too far away or the too quick blocks or jerky animations which it seems I'm getting used to (is it the foot planting?) or the lack of a feel of control in rebounding and blocking (compared to 2k). I like the spacing and the fact that the game seems to be harder to just QS and dunk than in 2k, but something seems off. Last year I felt 08 graphics were miles ahead of 2k but 2k9 looks like I'm watching a real NBA game... I'm going to give Live another week before I trade one BBall game for Far Cry 2 and maybe it will grow on me. right now I still like 2k better.

I bought 2K first. Liked it okay except ONE MAJOR PROBLEM! The stuttering frame rate in my favorite camera views. I can't STAND IT!

I'm talking about the down court views like 2K. Also, for some bizarre reason you can't have the camera flip to keep your team always facing the hoop. 1 or 2 you can but the rest it says "N/A"

Because of this I bought Live 09 and I am LOVING IT! I don't think it is a more realistic sim of the game but I do think it is a lot more fun. FOR ME!

I am keeping both until Motorstorm:PR hits and then i'll probably trade 2K towards that.

If the frame rate was a LOCKED 60 fps in the 2K view then i'd probably would be playing it more than Live. Maybe.

At least we have a choice huh!

is the 2k cam the default one? because if it is, i have had only had minor issues with it( a couple slow laggy moments, but that is all)
