Re: Ask the devs a question
-Did you fix the ease of fast breaks mainly along the baseline and the ease of which animations work and allow them to go through defenders.....
-Did you fix how a defender will stay in defensive postion and not be able to run and pick up a defender going to the hoop or running around the court....Comment

Re: Ask the devs a question
This is a gameplay year for us guys. We obviously see where our shortcomings are, and have worked so hard to address that. Because of this, our resources have been limited.
We do have your traditional "new features," but we're also trying to move away from that back of the box, feature-driven strategy, and just deliver a good game.
I appreciate the little details, but I can live without authentic arena scoreboards, signs in the stands, water bottles on the sidelines, bench players moving around, sneaker colors, hair style customizations etc. if it means getting the core basketball gameplay right, including the player models/animations, and ball/rim phsyics which from what I've heard seem to be improved significantly.Comment

Whew, and that is EXACTLY why I will most likely get Live '10 this year.

@callmeking
It's be great if it's in the game but at this stage of sports gaming consumers don't make a decision on these small presentation details. We decide based on core mechanics and how realisticaly it mimics the real sport. So while before Live focused on gimmicks for an arcade audience we now know simulation is #1 for them and us consumers.Comment

Re: Ask the devs a question
BTW guys, I've seen a TON of people across all boards say that we (the NBA LIVE team) are coming here everyday as a marketing ploy, or to "pat you guys on the back."
WRONG
We don't have to come here, we choose to come here. There's no EA Darth Vader pointing a light saber to our heads saying "interact with the community."
Me personally, I've BEEN where all of you have. I owned MaddenMania.com and have been a member of OS since 2003, so this stuff comes absolutely natural to me.
Let's get one thing straight here, we're not marketing, we're producers of a game who have a very long day job. We come here because we care, and it seems absolutely ridiculous not to come here and talk with the community. Why? Because you guys are our most informed PERIOD. Not having time for you guys is a really bad excuse.#SimnationComment

Re: Ask the devs a question
No not at all. Nobody said that.
It just peeves me that some people are so focused on bells and whistles, or the "cherry on top" so to speak.
This year, it seems (and I'm hoping) that the new dev team is focusing on getting the gameplay right first, so we have a solid game of basketball before worrying about adding the details like a towel boy or something. Know what I mean?
I want to make sure players play realistically, teams play realistically, and everything just meshes together in terms of what's happening on the court. Smart AI (like the auto subs and player rotations), making reads, passing out of double teams, using offensive plays, exploiting mismatches, no rubber banding defense or laser guided passes etc......also and make it all look good with improved and smoother animations and player models. Don't forget better ball trajectories and rim/net/ball physics and variations.
If they can improve stuff like that, I wouldn't complain about bench players not wearing warmups or if there's no towel boy on the sideline, or if players wern't wearing the correct shoes.
MLB The Show took this approach and it's paying off. The focused on gameplay in '08 and laid out a good foundation. This year they improved on that and also added more stadium details, like better crowds, more specific stadium authenticity, fans walking around etc.
If NBA Live wants to be the best (and it seems to be heading in the right direction), they need to lay the foundation of a solid basketball playing game first. Don't get me wrong, I love all the cool little details too, but you build the house first before decorating it.
