I believe it's legit.
Not because of what Live producers are saying but, as a result of playing A TON of play now games of Live09.
I believe these guys do really have something special going on here with the engine that's driving this franchise.
Live is already the best NBA game in regards to:
-Authenic NBA sets/playbooks
-playcalling executiion
-pick and rolls/Iso's (staples of every team IRL NBA)
-court spacing
-footplanting
They just need to expand on this stuff.
With that being said. I really do not get all of the talk of Live being completely NextGen including the graphics. The visuals and animations are far from NextGen IMO.
And this is where ALOT of my concerns are.
Will they be able to match the animation quality and quantity of the 2k series? In the ESPN interview they say they would.
Live have had horrible animations for years now.
There are posters throwing the "new engine/truely NextGEN" statements around a little too loosely when it comes to Live IMO.
Animations, player models, and arena specific lighting have all been average with this so called 'NextGen engine' that they are using.
I'm sorry, having the player action on the floor running at 60 fps and the fans flickering at 30FPS is NOT NextGen.
Having dark arena lighting for every arena is NOT Nextgen. BTW, this is another issue they mentioned they will be fixing per the Espn interview.
So, my only reservations with EA's credibility is in regards to whether they can get the quality of the visuals up to match the gameplay, the DNA 365, and the footplanting technology.
Per the interview, I'm glad they recognise these things as issues.
But, I'll have to wait to see the game in motion to see how much they have improved these areas.
