I understand the dunk/layup being the same, but the jumpshot 2? Dumbest idea everComment

man this sounds a little disheartening, because that means the mechanics to decide what type of shot, the angles, etc better be SPOT ON.Ca$hville 4 Life...

Getting back on topic...
That still doesn't solve the "can't dunk from a standstill" problem. How many times does Shaq take a running start before a dunk in real life? Holding turbo in 2K9 while standing still just makes you do a layup (and you usually miss it).
Also, I don't understand why people claim the shot stick is a good innovation. There is no reward for using it over Square/X. No matter which direction you push the stick or when you release, your shot will look the same and have the same chances of going in. To me, it's just an inconvenience, since it doesn't offer improved control or anything.
I've only used it with jumpshots, so I can't vouch for shot stick dunk controls- using Square/X is difficult enough to dunk with.
The point is that 2K does something different. Something that I, an owner of NBA 2K9 and NBA Live 08, feel is a lot worse and is something the superior game (Live) is gravitating towards. I don't want to see any loss in quality- I was hoping for an improvement this year.
At the very least, is it too much to ask that the developers include a "classic" control scheme, where we can use the controls that we're comfortable with? Sort of like how NHL '09 had an option to use NHL '94 controls. NBA Live '10 could have the option to use NBA Live '08 controls. Just consider it.Comment

Re: Bad News: '10 to only have 1 shot button for layups, dunks, jumpshots
basically you never learned all the moves to the shot stick and you prefer Live 08 simple format. I must say you guys loving keeping it simple live style rather than the more technical 2k style. CHANGE is comingGetting back on topic...

Re: Bad News: '10 to only have 1 shot button for layups, dunks, jumpshots
This might workout since they can now use the other button for something else. The only problem is when, for example, your on a fast break and you want to pull up for a jump shot, but the player goes in for a dunk/layup. We'll just have to wait and see.Comment

Re: Bad News: '10 to only have 1 shot button for layups, dunks, jumpshots
Not trying to keep debating on which one is better, but there is no way in Live that you can choose whether to do a layup to the left or right, shoot a floater, or do a reverse on command. You can't choose between doing a fancy dunk, power dunk, or reverse dunk. I don't see how you can say pushing X is superior.Getting back on topic...

Re: Bad News: '10 to only have 1 shot button for layups, dunks, jumpshots
Yeah i play 2k too, and the shot stick is one of the coolest features, if a defenders standing between you and the hoop but slightly right, you can push the shot stick left and try to layup around him or maybe even euro step. Also you can pump fake and shoot a forward Leaner with it. It just gives you more options and versatility on offense. Not trying to keep debating on which one is better, but there is no way in Live that you can choose whether to do a layup to the left or right, shoot a floater, or do a reverse on command. But with Mike Wang saying that Live 10 will give you more control over your shots than ever i trust that Live won't let us down in the shooting department, It might not be a shot stick, but its gonna be better that Live 09' shooting system so thats fine with meTwitter - @OtistheOriginalComment

Re: Bad News: '10 to only have 1 shot button for layups, dunks, jumpshots
this could be a good change for live ... we'll just have to wait and see... its never good to down an idea before seeing it play out because when that happens ... u become reluctant to try it..
