I'm very confident you guys will like the shooting mechanics this fall.
I have confidence n u Beluba. Im pretty sure this 1button mechanic will work out just fine. Is there ne way possible that the 1 button mechanic can be talked about in the 3rd blog for NBA LIVE10???? I hope so.....

most of the gameplay related blogs will be a little further down the line. I'll talk about shooting in one of them though.

well, it's only 11:30 over here (west coast), but the night is still young. lol. just taking a break before firing up the build again for another nightly marathon session.

and re: your question... sorry, i'll talk about some gameplay related things (at my discretion.) but i don't want to talk about other game areas that i don't own. the producers working on visuals, presentation, etc. will reveal the great stuff they've been doing this year soon enough via the blogs. i think you'll be quite pleased though, meechie.

I think this is a terrible idea. I hate 2k's shot stick system. With their system, your player always ends up shooting the wrong kind of shot, and you never have proper control over which type of shot you want to pull off - the CPU is deciding for you what shot it thinks is best for the situation. This leads to the very scripted and canned gameplay that has plagued 2k's games for years now.

The basics of Live's shooting system was great - all they needed to do was tighten up the animations a bit. I loved Live's jump shooting (especially how players could shoot on the move and would pull of leaning shots and quick turn-arounds - as opposed to 2k's clunky jump shooting where the player has to come to a complete stop and square up before he can shoot). 2k's jump shooting just feels slow, unresponsive, and unrealistic, because in real basketball players don't always shoot completely squared up and facing the basket perfectly - their momentum carries them in a direction and allows them to shoot while floating sideways, forward, or back depending on their momentum (Kobe Bryant especially).

I am just afraid Live is going to change all the things it was doing right and will just copy 2k's mistakes all over again.

I was attracted to Live's unique control scheme and was definitely considering switching from 2k to Live, but now it looks like EA is just trying to make a clone of 2k basketball. Just because 2k has been the highest rated game for a few years, that doesn't mean their game is better in every way. 2k looks better (mostly due to its better animations), but 2k's controls are pretty awful and don't give you much control over individual moves (dribbling moves, shooting, post moves, etc.). Live had a superior control structure, it just needed to be tweeked a bit and improved so it could live up to its potential. Now it looks like just when they were about to perfect it, they have gone and abandoned that control structure.

There were some things Live already did better than 2k, and the 2-button shooting system was one of them (Live's right stick dribbling system and its post game system are also far superior to 2k). They should not have made any drastic changes like this in 2010 - they should've left the controls the same and just focused on tightening up the gameplay and animations.

Very disappointed to hear about this.

I don't know who has been telling you that your 2 button system is "whack", but you shouldn't have listened to them. Sometimes companies listen to the wrong people and end up making their products worse because of it. I am a long-time 2k player, but I was VERY close to switching to Live in 09. I liked a lot of things about Live 09 and it was superior to 2k in many ways, but I figured I'd wait one more year for them to really tighten up the game and surpass 2k. Now it looks like they are changing all of the features that made me want to switch to Live.

Sounds like another case of a company just changing things for the sake of doing something new, rather than keeping the things that worked and only fixing the flaws. Sometimes you just need to tweek a few things here and there, but many times a company will change too much and ruin the good parts in the process.

it's really not that big of a deal, the people not liking this are making it sound like it's going to be a game breaker for them

I love all this over reacting without even trying it out or playing the game. People are jumping to conclusions.

                    CALM DOWN GUYS.

I have a feeling it will be for the better and I trust they know what they're doing. The people complaining that they shouldn't have switched it, well, if they didn't, there would be people complaining that it needs switching. lol.

But how about we lay off on the doomsday attitudes and gamebreaker mentality until we actually get to play and see the controls in action.

                      Lol exactly.

I think it's a good thing. I think a simple, intuative system that allows for simple controls for beginners but also allows more advanced players more control is what everyone is after. I think they'll be able to achieve that better with one button, smart contextual animations and modifiers to provide more in-depth 'tweaking' for us sim and control freaks.

I wonder if EB already has live 10 available for pre-order because i'm going to go put in my order soon?

bottom line is live has to gets it audience back from 2k and how do you do that? Similar control schemes, new animations , graphics , features. A majority of people are use to 2k's control scheme now so live had to adjust theirs to ease the transition for people who will play both games. Its for sales and also ALOT of people dont like the 2-button shooting scheme. its to arcadey. You dont need a dunk button do you. 2k shot stick give you alot more choices than the 2button layout ever will.

I don't mind going back to the one button for shooting if it's implemented properly. But I think people are afraid that Live is going to become exactly like 2k control wise and that the things that make Live unique will disappear.

No, it's actually spot-on. one button cannot compare to the possibilities with an analog stick.

You may not like the implementation but that has nothing to do with the fact that there are more choices in deciding what your player does.
