    Great posts Blues Rocker, totally agree.

    I agree with 23 that both games need work (previous 2k players all looked like body builders but 2k9 was a big improvement) but as long as they both keep improving i'll be happy.

      Great thread! I am also a digital artist and have noticed the same problems with proportions. You've made some great points.

      We shouldn’t have to be telling them how to do their job. EA should be able to figure it out for themselves. Your artists have degrees?

      The player models are out of proportion.

      This is meant to be a simulation of the sport, after all.

      I'm not liking the lack of acknowledgment from EA. It's called constructive criticism, use it to make a better product.

        I think you need to compare 2 pictures with similiar depth. The 2K shot is waaaay closer than the 2 Live pics.

        I agree with Dre though, Live has always had some off-looking player models IMO. They usually look too skinny (especially the legs).

          I shouldn't need to post pics. We have all seen both games in motion. 2K always looked near photorealistic. Live looked arcadey.

            This thread is completely subjective and shows that no two people can ultimately agree on anything in terms of the player models.

            Even if they were to digitize an entire person with 100% accuracy, you would always get that one guy that goes, "Ya know, that doesn't look quite right."

              Very good player model

              Live 06 and 07 really looks like a next gen game. Hopefully with ps4 and xbox720, we have this great high poly models that can run 60 frp.

                  This is true. I've been a web designer for nearly 6 years now and I still have people telling me my designs aren't perfect and I could design better then half the people designing with my eyes closed.

                    Doesn't really matter how much human art anatomy you study because it's not the same in games. Particularly with arms. Surely you've seen videogame skeletons and can see how different they are from actual ones? Like how the arm is just 1 line or "bone".

                      I disagree, Pared. As blues rocker pointed out. When you try to mimic a real life body, there is a finite objective.

                      You can plot a person's body shape on a graph and try to achieve those points. There's no subjectivity in trying to match proportions to a real-life shape that exists.

                      EA hasn't done this yet. 2K has done a much better job of it.

                        yes - human proportions vary slightly from person to person, but in general there is a very specific shape to each body part that cannot be deviated from.

                              Pared I'm sorry bro but how can you say there is subjectivity to human body parts???... if you thought that, then the example should have proved something to you bro. The joint that connects the forearm and the elbow is clearly way too sharp. Neck too skinny. Like EVERYONE should be saying this man did a hell of a job of pointing it out rather then shunning it off. Just say in Live 11 things like that would be looked at. But don't play it to be subjective or wrong and though a video game, something like that can be corrected. Period.

                                All I'm saying is before I purchased my Xbox 360 I heard about 1 trillion flops and all these dazzling numbers and comparison to super computers in the machine. I refuse to have any human tell me I can't get smooth elbows, proportioned body parts in relation to the specific NBA player, and natural looking necks. lol... all I'm saying. Maybe its the artist art style, maybe its the engine. But again with all those numbers Microsoft and Sony spoke about I know we could get Kobe to look like Kobe, Wade like Wade etc. and 2k9 did a solid job of that. Not perfect either but the players look to have some type of weight.
