Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

My double-teaming defenders just drop their hands when the offensive player goes to pass out of it sometimes. Also, why does contact sometimes interrupt the driving players animation and start another? Guys take 2 steps, get bumped, and take another two steps...all in one motion.

And if I get one more charge when I'm lightly jogging...

Live is like a hangnail. It's annoying and it hurts, but it kinda feels good too. Weird.

Just want to make sure I've got this correct: Do you think Garnett should make EVERY open 10 footer he takes? or that Wallace should make EVERY open 3 pointer he takes?

Okay I've had my fair share of time with Live but not much 2k I'm bout to get my time in with that now.

Played 3 online games and the last one I played was one of my best games ever.

I was down 12 to Boston I had the Spurs. It was like 2 1/2 minutes to go and I'm down 8.

Basically the whole team turned it on especially Richard Jefferson.

The guy went zone on me towards then end of the 2nd quarter and all the way into overtime.I believe he held me to 12 points in 2 quarters.

Well I got real aggressive and started attacking the zone and throwing skip passes which weakened the zone to bring it down to 3 points with 29 seconds left in the game and his possession.

After a good defensive stand I get the ball with 6 seconds left and throw it in to Manu and they immediately double team leaving the hot Richard Jefferson open for the corner 3 well you know the answer.

Start of overtime Parker,Manu, and Duncan wakes up and it was cruise control for the rest of the game.

Those are just a couple of examples. It didn't seem like naming every single missed shot was appropriate lol, so I just gave a couple of examples.

The only reason I'm not completely hating the game right now is because the cpu switched up the defense to a sort of zone and I was able to completely shut Chris Paul down, which threw off their whole offense, so even though I still lost I thought that was kinda impressive.

Still, what happened should not happen. Like I said, I went from hitting an above average percentage to missing nearly every shot! Drives me nuts just thinking about it.

Gotcha, yeah, I hear ya on that. If everybody always performed as exactly as you expected, sports wouldn't be very fun.

Heck, you watch games on TV though, sometimes it's just like that. Remember that game a few years ago when McGrady scored like 16 points is 90-something seconds or something silly like that?

LOL If that happened in this game to somebody, they'd by on Operation Sports saying "OMFG!!! THIS GAME IS BROKEN!!! COMEBACK AI!!! MCGRADY WENT OFF!!! FAKE!!!"

            LOL!!!

Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

The decision for which basketball game to buy came down to the wire this year. But the closer I got to make the choice I realized that what I really wanted was to play fun strategic basketball. So I got Live because in the demo and the videos posted/impressions by you guys, I felt that live would give me all of that. I felt that 2K was too robotic and sliding was to much of an issue to take. I also felt that Live player models weren't up to par. However, having played Live for the last 4 hours I couldn't be more happy. Not that the player models is still not an issue because that Danilo Gallinari model is just horrible.

The gameplay is so addictive that I can't put the damn control down. This game is so out of the box good that is incredible. I just love the spacing, movement, passing, signature shooting which is feels so good, lighting, ball to rim interaction. Is so refreshing to see players play the way they are supposed to play. Eddie House will be running through screens, Bargnani will play 20 feet from the basket, Ray Allen plays from wing to wing, Nash controls Suns tempo. 2k has become too predictable to me and I need it a sweet/fresh game and live delivered. Every possession is different and every game is different full of momentum.

Thanks for your post and videos because the last three weeks I have been searching for clips and responses from you guys to help in my decision.

These are the sliders that I'm playing with right now:

                Game Speed: -1
                Air Collision: -20
                Long Range Shooting: -3
                Shot Blocking: -5
                Shooting Fouls: +8
                Reaching Fouls: +8
                Superstar Level
                Manual Subs
                9 min Quarters

The flow of the game with this sliders is very realistic and the collisions feel and look way more natural than at default which happens way too much and overdone. 12 minute quarters creates a problem for rebounding which will get some players to grab over 20 rebs a game. 9 minute quarters seems about right with pts, stls, rebs, blocks, assists, etc.

My opponents are trying to do dumb stuff, and it's not working.

Feels good. Maybe the tables have been turned this year with Live 10?
So true. I had a guy quit on me in the 3rd quarter. He was Houston and I had the Nuggets. He kept trying to iso McGrady and Ariza and was getting stripped or jacking up contested shots. He did try to dump the ball to Yao a few times but after he got hit was a charge call, he stopped going inside.

I ran pretty much all my set plays, a lot of pick-and-roll with Billups and just took what he gave me. I was up 26 when he pulled the plug

That's a very good point. But, that's also why the interaction from the devs is even more important these days. So that we know what's really being put into the game (with tech and A.I. rapidly advancing), to react accordingly.
If the devs tell us they have new A.I. comeback tech, that allows for more realistic comeback effort, and logic, I don't think many gamers would have a problem with it. As long as it doesn't cheat to win.

Some people will complain no matter what. But just as we have to play with more skill this year, games will continue to get better. And we have to, also.

I just picked up Live today and it was just like you guys described it: awesome! My fist game was Thunder vs Kings, 5-min quarters, All-Star difficulty. The mid range game is nice and I actually like how you have to time your blocks. However, when I played the Suns in my next game( me as Jazz) I was destroyed. I'm still trying to figure this game out as Im getting adjusted to running playsets. Right now my offense is pretty stagnant b/c of the plays.
The only thing that I remember that took away from the experience was the lack of music when the end of quarter replays were shown. It seems kinda bare bones without it. But other than that, i'm glad I chose Live this year!
                        My Teams:
                        NBA: Miami Heat
                        NFL: New Orleans Saints
                        MLB: New York Yankees
                        SOCCER: Real Madrid/ Man United

is there any way to have the cpu shoot your free throws ?

cant find the option if it's there.

you guys have my word that there is absolutely NO comeback AI in Live this year. One thing that you may or may not have noticed, is that the AI will modify their strategies throughout the game, especially when they're getting blown out. So they'll throw more double teams at your hot players and usually speed up their tempo offensively. Tcain, I had the exact same thing happen to me last night playing. Had a huge half time lead (bulls over celts) but my bulls couldn't buy a bucket in the 3rd and the celts just went off. For me it usually is a product of me letting my guard down and not concentrating as much. Or maybe I've just seen Chicago squander so many leads over the past few years that subconsciously I just let the game play out that way. Lol

for those not liking the FT attempts... that's getting patched.

Yea there is Philly just wait a bit at the line or just bring up one of the menus before shooting your first shot using the D pad.
