I used to love this game, but it sucks and im sending it back. here is why:

The hop back jumper is such an exploit online. I was the lakers and i played against the jazz. Mind you i have won about 95 percent of my games online and i am a sim guy. The user just did the hop back jumper with daron williams every single posession and shot 57 percent scoring 90 points. He made 31 out of 54 three pointers. Every single shot he took was contested. just to tell, you, i stuffed about 10 percent of them. but it didnt matter cuz it just went out of bounds since hes shooting 3s so he is always next to the out of bounds line near the half court line. I played great defense with a hand in his eye every time. Im sending the game back tomorrow. (i use gamefly). and just in case you think im a 2k fanboy. I decided to go with nba live this year because the gameplay was great in the demo. I play mostly online quick matches, and i love games that reward players who play sim. you shouldn't have to "not cheese" to be fair. If an NBA team goes out one night and doesn't play sim ball, they get trashed. thats how some sports games are, and unfortunately nba live is NOT like this and nba 2k is NOT like this. But if both games let cheesers win why not go with the game that has better presentation. yesterday i was telling my friend how you couldn't cheese in this game, and he told me that i only had the game for a week and that somebody would find something. sad sad day for me. I think im going to play some assassin's creed.

Re: I used to love this game, but it sucks and im sending it back. here is why:

I've been trying different ways to stop it, but I haven't been able find a way yet against good players.

I've been using my coaching options to play tight defense. I'm assuming it helps, but much of the options online are broken i.e. defensive matchups so I have no idea if it's really helping.

Obviously you have to play on-ball defense. You have to be extra careful not to use defensive assist because there's a forcefield preventing you from contesting the shot. I am rarely using defensive assist and when I do it's just tapping it to keep my player from ice skating all over the court.

You've got to over play him heavy for the jumper and make him drive to the hoop where you have help.

I hope they take this seriously because I think it's a problem. Deron is one of the beasts, but guys like Granger and even Mo Williams are very hard to stop at times.

I feel your pain. Both games have trash gameplay online, but I guess they have to cater to a certain type of person. Even with how arcade like online is I've seen people still complaining about not being able to do things more easily on offense.

I'd wait until the patch though just to see if anything significant is changed.

not going to get sim games, playing randoms the majority of the time, in any game..but yeah..as another poster said..heavy on ball is the antidote.

it doesnt help that EA has the default sliders for online play on "pro" difficulty..either.

Stop playing on all-star...play on Superstar and your problem is solved...The only thing that needs patched is your brains for always thinking every little problem is solved with a patch...get your game up and find a basketball solution instead of declaring every little problem you have with the game as an exploit

I dont think it has anything to do with difficulty level. I played the same guy that was using deron williams. I set double team to him and tried to bring a the center to help.

He was only using deron from utah and would run back n forth and hit the jump back fadeaway 3 glitch. He does not pass the ball to anyone else. The shots were from way beyond the 3 point line. It was like halfway to halfcourt. Unless you block it its a swish like 95% of the time. He hit 20 3 pointers with deron. Mike said there were patching it. So at least that problem will be fixed.

i rarely respond to posts and threads like this, but i cant give you the benefit of the doubt that you are a sim player or not a whinnnner,

you really think a game is cheese proof or can be made cheese proof !!!!!!!!!

i play call of duty 4 and gears of war online ALOT. and anybody who plays online knows that for every 5 decent gamers online there are 100 clowns.

thats online gaming, if i played you and shot 100 3pters all game i guess they should patch the game so online 3's cant be attempted get real return the game and spare us your presence on the forums

what level were you playing on???...because thus far on Superstar I have yet to see the nonsense and I play exclusively online...Maybe you need to play more OS dudes or people you trust...I rarely play people I don't know and even when playing random clowns the nonsense is at a minimum on Superstar

The default sliders are not on pro...it is on allstar but i do agree about the step back...it seems like it is a more high percentage shot than a regular jumper.

every game has these types of issues, and the fix for all of them is not playing randoms.

at least its not live 07 (i think) on ps2 where corner 3s were always going in no matter what.

Deron Williams stepback you say ? I'll give it a try.

Ummm...I mean.. theey really have to fix this!!!

Seems to me like there is some kind of force field around th ball handler that doesn't allow you to body up at times. Might be the root of the prob

Those spinning catch-and-shoots (especially in the corner nearly falling out of bounds) weirdly still seem to go in at a high rate despite the DNA shot percentages of something like that. Seems like the stepbacks are in that same category... should be toned down for sure, though I haven't experienced anything like that playing online.

Most times when I play a random they just wiggle around until the defensive momentum takes me far enough off them that they can go to the rack, but you can stop that by just switching to an off-ball man and helping on the drive instead of trying to stick with them while they wiggle back and forth.

I don't see how DNA would help because it doesn't take into account level of difficulty does it? I'm assuming it just registers those shots as uncontested even if some of them are circus shots.
