You should start holding turbo 15-18' out. In order you should...

      1) Hold turbo
      2) Flick L-stick
      3) Hit the shot button

      All very quickly though.

So you are saying its best to flick the stick in a direction when driving rather then moving it by degrees.

So for example when I'm driving to the basket and I see a defender in my path I should flick the stick away from the defender. Rather than rotating the stick in that same direction correct?

Lol I really want to understand this so this is my last comparison. Is it better for me to do a quarter circle motion like playing street fighter or should I flick left, right, up, etc.

I know you say flick it but I just want to know for sure what you mean b/c if it works both ways I'm going to be in trouble. But if it only works one way then I can work w/ that.

man ehh, the tips you gave us saved the game for me. i already loved the half-court game, but by using the lay-up salutions, my transition game has improved. The last game i played, i shot 20 freethrows on 9 min quarter games with dwade alone. i feel like i can finally pick and chose how i attack not instead of just shooting jumpshots. i held the cpu to 10 freethrow attempts that game too! Thanks man!

Side note: When attacking the hole, try to avoid the defender! that is key! i had to erase 2k out of my mind. i was so used to attacking the rim straight on and letting animations play out. once i did that everything has smooth.

NBA Live Developers: We need more user control animations! Dont go the 2k route, but the fact that we have to trigger animations 15-18 ft out is a little strange!

I flick it instead of rotating it, I find better results that way. It's also how Mike Wang does it in the shooting tutorial if you look at his thumb on the 360 controller in the video. Check that out, again about 7 minutes into the video and look at Mike's left thumb and how he maniplutes the L-stick.

Also, I'm finding that flicking it away from the defender is your best bet (as DW3 mentions above) as opposed to thinking about which side of the hoop you want to lay it up on or trying to create contact. Just flick away from the defender (which is also good because you'll shoot a fadeaway/leaner when you SHOULD instead of trying to force a layup if a defender is in good position between you and the basket. Flicking the stick away from the defender basically gives you the best strategic move for your situation.

Glad it helped you out so much DW3, it's pretty fun once you figure it all out.

Yes it is. In 5 Games played on allstar I am 5-0! default sliders.

If the defender is on your left, flick the stick right and vice versa. When u try and just bull your way to the hoop that's when you get the contact animations that result in non calls. So if you try and advoid the defender and they impede your forward progress that's when you will see the fouls being called in your favor. In theory it makes since, its just the input method is kinda funky. Guess that's the differnce between cannimations and user control. Some things suffer when the user has complete control bcause that allows for more user error.

Glad to OP figured it out. I got it down myself, but I do feel as though if the majority of gamers are having a problem with it, the layup mechanic needs to be tweaked for next year.
