        Until some of you guys go to a event like this, u will not understand how games are made so I will not comment further on "The Hockey Guy working on a basketball game" deal. Some of u will believe what you want until the game comes out. Just let the info come out and go from there...

              Interesting stuff. I am pretty sure Mike and Marcus didn't like this change in direction and it is kind of dissapointing that basketball changes weren't simply added to LIVE 10 (Rebounding, on ball D, full court game etc)...and we'd be in line for the LIVE 11 Beluba and Marcus kind of envisioned all along.

              Instead, we've got another "direction change"...which may or may not work. Those new shot stick controls essentially mean success will be in the user's control. (as opposed to 'who' the player is...i.e Okafor or Dirk shooting a 3)

              Some people will love this change. I've got friends who aren't really into basketball and it annoys them big time when 'they' miss shots simply because the cpu player isn't capable of making those shots. They don't know the difference between Dirk, Sheed etc and Shaq, Okafor etc so why should they be punished? This new system will reward the player who releases the ball prefectly etc / masters the controls.......as video games are supposed to. LOL

              "SIM" basketball heads who want to see a clear difference between players though aren't going to like the new direction. I can see the flood of "Okafor / Shaq / drained three balls on me all day!" when i played online" already....

              Personally, I'm dissapointed that LIVE 11 as seen by Mike and Marcus won't ever see the light of day........but the changes look really interesting and the controls could make both games different enough to want to own make 'both' games

                WOW!! is all i got to say after reading this one.. If you havent read this Q&A then you should... if this doesn't change your view on the new direction then I guess 2K it is..

                  I've got to say that I take "pre game release" hype as worth absolutely nothing any more man. I won't name names, but I've been told by guys making these games that they basically just say what they "have" to tell us from the companies PR people.......knowing full well it's not true. Any negative / too hard questions are ignored and all the other stuff is "answered to please".

                  Count me down as having zero faith left. Gaming hype is like a political campaign nowadays...i.e. BS and rhetoric. It's kind of dissapointing, but that's the way things have gone in this internet era where every quote can fly across the net / forums / the world in moments. I don't blame either company. It's the way everyone is nowadays...companies, Govt's...my own job, we have to spin the BS where it's required and it's not something i enjoy either. It's modern life though.

                  I'll jump onto LIVE 11...umm, Elite...once the demo drops this season and not a moment before after getting caught out (like a lot of others did) when EA got people here to effectively inadvertently hype it for them last season. I'll take a hell of a lot of convincing this time after getting badly burnt with NCAA 10 (no patch, no post release support for a game that freezes = disgraecful)

                  Prove it's a good game this year. No more rhetoric. You can only spin stuff so much fellas. (Which is why sales are so low...no one trusts you anymore). I am sure the PR guys and those inadvertently doing the PR for them here will jump on these comments, but they know it's true...

                  Bottom line = release a complete game / no more "next year" / "wait until you hear what we have got coming in 18 months". Get it right and do it now.

                      Don't post like a 10 post new user... there is plenty of direction and influence that everything you wrote here is off the mark.

                      I was as skeptical as anyone that they were ditching the sim direction... and couldn't be more wrong.

                        You guys need to relax, something tells me this is the best thing that could happen. Not much of a live fan, but don't rush to judgment. I play NHL and FIFA religiously, the guy knows what he's doing. I don't think EA would put him give him the reigns to 3 of the marquee games if not...

                          This is all I was getting at with my post. If one can't look at the info objectively then there's no need for them to even look at previews.

                          And after reading you're other post I can see that you are going to do just that. And I understand why because for years 2K has had me at the same spot with their bball games.

                          You are in the prove it to me phase so I get that, I just can't look at what EA's trying to bring this year as complete marketing BS..

                              If you hated 09 and 10, then of course 11 isn't going to be some amazing new game... they just want to trick you into believing that; that's the 'hype.' But for people who saw those as solid games that just needed a bit of polish, this is a no brainer.

                              People say it will fail because it's EA. Why? they say it will fail because of a new shooting mechanic. Well, crucify me, but I believe if someone wants to devote their whole life to making 3 pointers with Shaq, then more power to him.

                              The existence of a code that says "NO" to any action due to circumstance, no matter what the user does, undermines competitive gameplay.

                                Every time my NCAA 10 froze...and it was often...I must confess to thinking "I'm never spending $ on their stuff again".

                                It's going to take a hell of a game for me to pay for an EA product again after they burnt us with NCAA and the complete lack of respect for their customers.

                                If ELITE is sensational...i'll jump on board as there's no point in missing out on a good game. So, that's their task if they want my $ anyway.

                                I won't be buying into their pre release hype / their "let's get the web sites on board" crap again though. I certainly won't be buying it day one like I have with 99% of EA basketball games since the original Lakers v Celtics.

                                Not after they abandoned NCAA the moment it shipped.
