The left stick is pressure-sensitive so it's completely capable of handling speed changes without the aid of a modifier.

This is just a little concern that I have.

Isn't adding the alternative button to shoot a bad idea, because just by the idea of using a button vs. having to push-up on the right stick to shoot, it seems like using the button to shoot would be much easier to do?

Obviously there are going to be people who still use the stick, but wouldn't most people just switch to the button to shoot because they want the easier way to be successful?

      Thanks!

I don't know which way we're going to tune it, but it would be trivial to make the button config have a lower success rate than using the sticks.

It will all come down to how we tune it.

No matter where we fall with that, I can pretty much guarantee that for a certain group of people using the right stick config will be a more reliable way of scoring, simply because they will get good at it.

Question 1. Will we be able to control pass type? bounce/chest/overhead

Question 2. Will we be able to self-alley oop off the backboard like in Live 2005?

I'm not sure if this fits in exactly but anyways.....

Last season (from a Raptors perspective) you guys did a pretty good job with sig jumpers for the Raps - Bosh, Bargnani (pretty much bang on), Calderon, Jack. Have you guys redone all the sig jumpers ???

Are you still using some from last season ???

Or have you guys redone everything to fit with the new shooting controls ??

              rEAnimator,

For those of us who plan to utilize the "Broadcast Camera View" during gameplay should we expect any major difference in the controls that might hamper our experience...???...Will the controls be the same in terms of the sticks and how we use them no matter what gameplay view we use???

I know you can't comment re ONLINE but my biggest concern is ONLINE OPTIONS and the EA online team not providing an adjustable camera angle for those of us who play exclusively online. Without answering my online question if you could just impress upon the online programmers how important it is for the game to be identical online I and many others would certainly appreciate that. Thanks

I heard somewhere else that right stick control is absolute, so up is always for shooting no matter what the camera.

I think players should be able to change from hot or cold after each quarter depending on how they played making their sweet spot wider.

Will clutch players be clutch? Cause the clutch rating has absolutley no use in Live 10...How is it I make a 99 rating clutch player yet when i'm down by 5 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter I can't make a shot. Same with people like Kobe, Derek Fisher, and others. They were far from clutch in clutch moments.
I'm guessing you guys don't know the answer to these?

I read that the longer you hold your shot the more powerful it is in the game,
In real life it is the other way around. Holding your shot coming down/too long should result in a shot coming up short.

Is there a chance that you guys will reverse the way shots work now?
I honestly think this would solve problems of bank shots and odd looking shots.
it would aslo make getting hopeful shots off with say .05 seconds.

that is so true about .05 second shots. by reversing their power meter the game will improve in so many ways. bank shots will work normal. shots won't look odd. getting off .05 second shots will actually have a chance of going in.

reanimator i know you mentioned that the best looking release point of a shot is not the perfect release for the power meter? can you change that? because i think its easier to see if the shot looks perfect than to try and remember when the right release point was from doing practice. making the perfect looking shot also a perfect release will make the shooting so much better.

Re: Ask the devs : Controls (Offense and Defense)

I can understand what you guys are talking about from a physical standpoint because you are right a jumpshot is not powered that way. But from a mental standpoint or the way a person goes about powering up for a shot mentally, it is.

For example when a person is shooting a bank the way go about shooting that shot is much different then when shooting a regular jumper. It actually takes more focus because you have to worry a lot more about your rotation, arc, touch etc.

The way the team at EA has users timing the bank shot lines up with the mentality of a shooter because it require more of a focus. So moving the stick slightly to the left/right and putting more "power" into the shot simulates that mental process imo.

And to address the "power" meter issue even that is in line with the mental aspect of shooting too. Because the closer you are the less you have to think about how much arc, touch etc. you have to put on a shot.

The farther away you are from the basket the more you have to think about when shooting. And the power meter kind of demonstrates that because shooting 3's requires the player to use more power. And at the same time it also gives the shooter less room for error in how much power he can put in the shot.

Which is just like in real life where your margin for error when you attempt a 3pter is a lot lower then when you attempt a layup. Go and watch the shooting diary video again and it should make more sense.

So to me it'll make sense whether they change the mechanic or not because it will reflect real life shooting in one way or another.

Well if it was to remain the same the meter should be faster. If it stayed I think it will have the 2k set shot problem, where your shot becomes a set shot even off the dribble. And im sure you dont want to take mental focus when you have tenths of a second left in the game and have to hold your shot for 1 second to have a real chance.

Spreading my idea a lil thicker, it will take the gamer mental focus to time it one way or another. To me the only difference is time and physics ( that the games based on

I also think the meter should go up and down 2 times, cus being real shooting short or long is never out of the question. Ive seen Vince Carter, Kobe everybody double pump hanging shots go in nothing but net. Just another idea. ( faster meter going up and down twice.)

my other post was full couldnt edit.

During what parts of gameplay does the controller vibrate? I would like it to vibrate during any contact and when a defender is contesting my shot. The intensity of the vibration should depend on how well they are contesting it.
