I dont think you have this kind of delay unless the issues are undeniable and not once even after the bad impression of the demo did any of the devs. even hint at a delay. Where is the trust? Which is a shame because like I said earlier in this thread rEAnimator has been one of the most candid devs. I have seen on OS.
I believe rEAnimator posted few pages back in the thread that he and the team just found out this morning abuot the delay. So don't think he had any idea either, I wouldn't chalk up him not saying anything to being distrustful.

I've had the feeling through this whole "OS Elite Debacle 2010" that the people directly involved in creating the game (Reanimator, others) have said about as much as they should, considering this game is the way they make money to survive. They were pretty honest. If I were interested in keeping my job, I'd be up front, but in a protected, positive, and optimistic manner, as they seemed to be. I don't think there's any way that a developer, no matter how up front he wanted to be, could come out and say something like, "Guys, in all honesty, I couldn't in good faith recommend this game to you, but please go buy it anyway."

Who's to say how all this stuff really broke down, but to me, it feels like this was a group of guys who decided to attempt to revolutionize the NBA video game market, tried their best, came up very short, tried to make the best of the situation at hand, and then suffered a giant step back and dissapointment in being delayed.

I'd surely stop short of saying, "Well done EA!" but I do believe a delay is the right move. I have to believe this is tough news to take for anyone involved in the creation of that game though.
Yeah EA has really messed this up. I already talked about the devs. creditibility and the higher ups at EA just threw them under the bus. There are some serious discrepancies that make the people who deal with us here seem incompetent. I feel sorry for them because I knew it's not their faults. You would think at some point before it got here the "Suits" would have given the guys who have to deal with the community heads up that this could happen.

Re: CONFIRMED: NBA Elite 11 Delayed until 2011

I am surprised that EA would do this, but it makes perfect sense. I think they should just release a game next October and skip this year. I hope they go back to the Live 10 engine and go from there. I really enjoyed that game and think that it has a TON of potential.

They need to fix franchise mode/sim stats while they are at it. Give us the ability to play a shorter season!!!!!!!

It would be a big mistake to release a game for this season, and I think they are smart enough to know this.

Question for you rEAnimator. So is Elite 11 Canceled? Or Will it be released early next year? Say around January? The article wasn't very clear.
Those decisions haven't been made yet which is why the blog wasn't specific.

I will keep you posted as best I can.

            FAITH RESTORED!!

I don't know what will ever come of Elite but we'll see in time. It was a leap but I would still love to see them just build on Live 10.

I for one am looking forward to the Live 10 roster updates. And I don't think anyone should give EA any grief if the rookies look generic for a free update. I doubt they can do too much about that with DNA updates.

            Much respect.

Let me be clear. Devs' role at OS is not to hype the game. OS is a two way street. The Devs get the opportunity interact with the hardcore gaming community and use those ideas to improve their game. The OS community gets direct access to a Dev to submit ideas, fixes and features that they would like to see in the game. No hype. Just responses. I think the Elite devs have done a great job at that.

2k has guys like Ronnie2k and Live (now THQ) had guys like Stephensonmc who are PR guys. They are not devs. They are here to solely hype the games they promote. So if Ronnie says MLB2k is the greatest baseball game ever, I take that with a grain of salt because I know his primary job is to promote and hype his game. With Devs, I expect a little more straight talk.

Thank You. What worries me now is whats going to happen because that was in no way shape or form a real NBA sim, especially nowadays.

I have a hard time believing a guy like DC went there and told them the ft line dunks and take offs off the step were acceptable because I know he didnt, and its not.

So delaying the game to finish what it was or to actually work on what we said we wanted from the beginning is what im wondering. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?

I really dont want to hear about hockey or fifa ever again in a basketball forum. NBA fans have gotten the short stick for far too long fellas.. and honestly, there should be a plan but not one where what we want as consumers are just thrown in because someone wants YMCA ball players to try the game. How about the ones who have been buying and waiting for years for certain things?

Like I said earlier either they are lying(covering up for a bad product) or they have no idea what a good basketball game is supposed to be. There is no middle ground.

No one said "wait for" anything after the demo was released. No one said the patch will fix most the problem. No one from EA anyway. You just made that up now. We weren't trying to fool you.

We genuinely like the game and are going to be working hard to address the concerns people have brought up.

This has been a tough day, I think I need to step away for a bit...
I don't you were trying to fool anyone, but i think purposely choose which posts to respond to, so the flaws in your game wouldn't get highlighted. And you mislead a little, releasing gameplay videos and commenting it will look fast b/c of it being recorded off cam. But you guys never released any direct feed video, even though
                  "Via David Littman.

Hey guys...we will be putting out more and more videos as we drive to finish the game. Next week's videos will be direct capture, because these videos look a bit fast when just filmed with a camera in front of a TV. We will also have more gameplay that has not been seen yet...like put backs, more in-air collisions, hook shots, etc. As we get different dev guys playing the game, they each have different styles, so each set of videos will be different. We will focus on the CPU next week also. I will say that until you feel this game with your own hands (when you get the downloadable demo), it will be tough to understand how much control you truly have over the outcome of the game."
In my opinion there are numerous statements here that just lead to false hope. The bottom line is this, you guys Over sold and Under produce.

Great explanation...great post...I still don't think they ever hyped it to the point of saying the game was a "great simulation" or even a great game of basketball...I definitely don't feel lied to...all I remember is them saying they were having a lot of fun with the game and that to get a sense of that fun you had to play the demo...

I know for a fact that the devs knew there were things missing and they even said so publicly in that they said they didn't have time for tons of animations/graphic work...they truly feel very proud of the work they did in the time they were allotted...they were told to do the best they could with the time they had and had no say in whether the game was worth $60 or whether it would be a ripoff to be released at all...

To me, a person can be mad at EA for "ruining" Live 10 or being a week away from trying to sell an "incomplete" product but in that case go email Peter Moore...

rEAinmator has been quoted in saying something in the area of, they want to get the basketball players that don't play video games.(If need be I can find the statement). Which i thought was an odd statement to begin with. Although they wanted the casual gamers, i think they misjudge the approachability of Elite for casual gamers and the Voice of the Sim Gamer.

rEAnimator this is all I can say. Take the NBA Live 2010 and improve it and you guys will be alright. I actually purchased NBA Live 2010 and enjoyed it but there were somethings about it that turned me off like the Auto-Subs system and a few other things. But continue with NBA Live 2010 it was a good game.

Please tell them don't go back to Live 10 if they are thinking about it. I don't care if it's from FIFA or NHL or ant other game. The demo showed me a new standard for bball game in gameplay and control. It could be an amazing game if they have enough time.
