    Re: Trading for Draft Picks

I still love the way Madden uses there trading system this year. It also bothers me that the CPU will say they don't want to deal with draft picks. Oh well, I'll retuen this game when ESPN will be release. This will tie me over for a while.

      Re: Trading for Draft Picks

maybe you need to wait till the offseason???

some teams in Madden won't trade their picks if they are unsure of draft position.

If you are trading Kobe for Christie in the early part of the season, then the Kings might have a strong argument here. If they bomb their season, their pick could end up being better than having Kobe - salary and potential wise. They don't know yet.

I say try in the offseason, before the draft, and see what happens.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

            Re: Trading for Draft Picks

I feel that Madden's trading system is more logical than NBA Live. For example, age factor, rating factor is secondary, and draft picks whether it is somewhere 3 to 7 will not be ignored by any team. Heck you can even trade your newly aquired rookie for a high rating veteran given your rookie was pick somewhere in the position 1st to 15th postiion. It does make sense to an AI rebuilding Franchise. But for NBA Live it doesn't because Christie is older than Kobe, plus a 2nd round pick? Take the 2nd round pick out and the CPU will accept the trade. I mean how important a 2nd round pick player can be where we all know only a handful of gems was found on the 2nd round in the last 10 years.

And in this case a proven Kobe would be rejected by Christie and a 2nd round? Heck even the Maloof brothers would not let that opportunity pass. Unless of course the CPU knows that Kobe is being trialed for a rape crime, now that is another story. I'll try T-mac this time.

I mean in a sense I am not trying to find the games fault, but to me, the life and replayability of a certain video game sports title depends on how good the Franchise is.

ok, i agree, but still, let's try this trade in the offseason.

EA might have put in a trade AI that won't trade picks unless it knows where the pick is first.

                        Re: Trading for Draft Picks

One thing to check would be the contracts that Sacramento has. IF everyone on the roster has multiple year contracts or they only have a couple people's contracts expiring they wouldn't have the roster space to take the pick plus there 2 draft picks. Try trading Kobe and the second round pick for Christie and the second round pick.

Also, if your not trying to find the flaws in the game then why would you even make that trade in the first place. No one would trade Kobe and a pick for Doug Christie.

Anyway, i would check the Sacramento Roster and try ot figure out why they wouldn't take draft picks. Does this happen on every team you try to trade or just some teams?

BTW, does anyone think EA should start having larger manuals to explain more of the nuances of these games. At least a link on the webpage so you could get more explanation of what certain things effect and do? Something you could print if you wanted.
