Pro Hop IS too effective...my impressions of everything else also

At first..i thought its pretty kool...but afta playin for 3 straight hours..it is a very cheap move and i think they've overdone it...i've messed with sliders a little bit..and there seems to be no specific slider for its effectiveness (unless im looking wrong). The only thing i see that i THOUGHT could fix it was inside shooting...but on allstar (or allpro?) that actually needs to be moves up because they miss ALOT of inside shots..more than i like. Anyways...i can tell im not gonna like this pro-hop the more i play...im already usin it as a "escape" when i can't buy a bucket...its gets me in the lane pretty darn easily and im usually successful in making the shot.

Amonth other things...i guess dude was right...the slowdown is VERY annoying..its a shame theres more slowdown in this game this last year's version....there is no way this game should be slowin down as much as it does...im willing to bet espn will run alot smoother and thats WITH way higher quality graphics..so i dont really understand. Maybe the extra motion capture moves takes up system resources? That's my guess...either way..they should've found a way to make it work bettah..because slowdown everytime down the court is too much

On a good note...i REALLY like the new collision detection on contact jumpshots and layups..real nice...the blocks look alot more realistic also. The ten man motion captures does work pretty well and it looks bettah..lotta off the ball movement.

Freestyle control has bee downgraded...but now im feelin like its way less effective..almost uneffective at all on default allstar ( i guess i need to tweak the sliders so it works SOMETIMES)...the computer doesnt bite AT ALL on any of the post fakes or the jab steps before u start the dribble....its like..whats the point?

We already know the graphics arent that great..they DO look a little bettah in motion before it starts doign the slow down thing (im playing the xbox version)...last year's versions plays at a smoother framerate..and more constant...that shouldn't be right...i dont care how much more is going on...ur last game should never run smoother than the new one.

Jumpshots...on defaults..u cant hit NOTHING unless its pro hop or a dunk...definately hit those sliders to get it workin right. On starter u can hit some..but anything over allstar...u cant buy a bucket.

Theres nice pick and roll animations...i like the traps too...very nice.

Dunks are a bit of a disapointment....they are less subtle which is good cuz last year i thought everything was too over the top...but it doesnt look like the quality of the dunks are up to par. Alot of them look akwards because the animations seem like they're missing frames..everything happens too fast ( just like last year)...and yea..the thunder is back (ugh)

    Still slippery..nuttin new here

Backing up in the post feels like its more effective..thats a good thing...sometimes u get trapped as you should...but it feels like posting up actually matters now..last year they had all these slick looking post moves but none of them even worked..it was just for looks....BUT..this year alot of those same fakes STILL dont work as well...the backing up is bettah tho and less lost balls from doing it.

Franchise mode...BIIIG..and i mean BIG disappointment..i remember when everybody was sayin live 2004" dynasty was gonna kill espn.....looks like thats not the case...it IS very thin..not much to do at all and the layout is quite simple and boring. Cutscenes are not as slick as peeps may think. Training is pretty nice tho...as far as improving the team. And ofcourse the franchise bug..which ihavnt experienced myself since i havn't played it long enough.

Oveerral...im kinda disapointed...its alot more realistic and "simmy" than last year..but there are still alot of problems...and there are other things beside speed that make this game feel sloppy...i have my gamespeed on 45 from 60 i believe...and it stills feels fast becaue the actual animations dont slow down at all...it seems like its just the running that gets slowdown...i dunno.....

right now...im getting the feelin espn is gonna take it this year...we'll see...im not feelin this live 2004 that much..its a pretty good game..not garbage..but couldve been alot bettah

          <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">Yeah man my sentiments exactly

to add to wat u said... the collision detection is very nice on layups, but... there is constant contact that causes u to miss shots, which should be called as a foul but rarely is the foul called

The backing down works very well, actually too well if u ask me. I can take Lebron from the 3pt line and back down my defender all the way to the rim like i was Shaq. Ok lebron is a big guy but even with Allan Houston the results were the same.

I use the pro-hop almost every time down court. Its way too effective.

I hate the way u bump off of defenders, i've been bumped from the paint all the way to the 3pt line.

The game really isnt that bad tho, but these flaws really detract from the game for me.

Im gonna return the game tomorrow and put a pre-order for ESPN NBA Basketball. I've heard good things, plus im a big fan of the series. I think next year live will catch up tho.

yea there IS too much contact goin on...it does happen a lil too often...yea this game is getting weaker by the moment. I should've known ea wasnt gonna make THAT huge of an improvement..i mean they have in a way...but in improving certain things...new bugs came up and problems that werent problems before are up....i should've never doubted sega in the first place...i know for sure espn is gonna be of bettah quality now...i can feel it...theres no way espn can get any worse than this. If it does...my basketball season is gonna be quite boring

Yeah, and we all know that Game Informer is NEVER wrong

I hope ESPN NBA Basketball IS great, but if it's anything like NBA 2k3, it won't deserve the kudos it's bound to get from review sites. Review sites praised NBA 2k3 last year, but that was garbage. I hope this year isn't the same deal.

As for Live 2004, I'm definitely getting it for the PC. It seems like a very good game, and hopefully the bugs that are on the Xbox won't be on the PC.
