Thats what the jump stop/ pro hop is there for. In the past we would drive to the lane and the animation of going to hop was the way to get that actual PG gaurd drive and dish as the Defesne would only colapse because you were actually a threat going to the goal.

The new move now is the way to get to the whole and either pass out or dunk/layup and shot. Players rarely pass out of a layup but they do pass during the actual move towards the lane and basket.
