Re: Interview: NBA LIVE 13 Features Gameplay Never Seen Before In Basketball
Maybe I'd explain myself wrong. English is not my first language, lol. I'm trying again.
1. You have to target casual audience, except in a case like this. You've been criticized by the fans over the years. You had to cancel a game. And you jumped a year. You have A LOT to prove. But you don't have to prove it to a 10 year old kid. You have to prove it to the hoops community. Even more if you got your mouth full with the word simulation. If EA manages to convince us (people who plays basketball games all year, every year), the casuals will come. In Live 14 or 15. Whenever. They have to look at this as a marathon, not a drag race.
2. When I said FIFA was the best game at the beginning I was talking about SNES/Genesis. Then ISS Deluxe came out and they had a real competitor (it was a better game for me, but hardly known, at least in Spain). In PS1 it wasn't even funny. ISS was THE GAME. And it was like that until FIFA07. As I said, it was raw but it was something fresh, and something that at least was next-gen, with PES being stale. Since then, FIFA continued improving the game. Maybe slowly, with only a couple new features every year, but PES didn't even started to get better until PES2011 (its hard to look at it and realize that PES6 for PS2 was a better game than PES2010 for x360. At least for me)
And I agree with your third point, so that's it.
This is way I never participate in any thread, lol. When I said something I always end up having to explain myself again in a freaking long post that takes me 30 minutes to think, write and sometimes translate... LOLComment

Re: Interview: NBA LIVE 13 Features Gameplay Never Seen Before In Basketball
EA Sports knows they have alot to prove with NBA Live they said it themselves. They're trying to restablish the credibility of the NBA Live franchise. Nick Wlodyka said It’s a journey we’re on, no doubt, but this first impression, we’ve got one shot to get it right, There’s no room for error. The NBA Live dev team also mentioned that they're sticking to what's important & that there won't be any fluff in NBA Live 13. They want to make the best NBA basketball simulation possible.Last edited by 22cedric; 07-21-2012, 04:01 PM.Comment

Well you have to think that if this game is rubbish, it'll be the death of the franchise. I mean they have been working on this game for 2 or 3 years so there is absolutely no excuse if the game isn't good.

actually they been working on the game since Nov. 2011, less than one Dev cycle, the didnt spend 2-3yr on this game, only 1yr, that why everyone has also been complain about how they wasted all that time but yet still say that the goal of this game is a 3yr processComment

Re: Interview: NBA LIVE 13 Features Gameplay Never Seen Before In Basketball
Look, I'm the FIRST one to defend them by saying that no one should expect this game to reflect 2-3 years of development. But to say they only started in Nov 11, to me, is a bold faced lie. I don't think that they would be stupid enough to try to put out a game with only less than a year of development. That's just out-right stupidity. And, again, there would be no excuse for waiting THAT long. To be fair, the Nov '11 date was the date that they said they had a "full team". To me, that was the date of the last hire/assignment for the team. But they've had the game since 2010. It didn't sit in the proverbial closet that whole time. I think SOME (not all) of this is just sandbagging or managing of expectations. Of course, I would agree with that strategy if I were in their shoes.Comment

Technically the last hire was when they brought Scott aboard a couple of months ago but even still...why even make that statement unless you know there is a high chance you're going to get bashed in reviewsComment

Hedging one's bets I believe they call it. Either way it's extremely stupid on their part, but what else is new this generation out of them.Comment

"Rather than blowing up the building and starting over from a crater, we wanted to see what was still inside that we could use." That is where most of 2011 was spent, says Barnes, and Nick Wlodyka, the game's executive producer.
They installed a new animation and AI engine. Guess what the Elite developers did?Comment
