    The REBOUNDING is terrible!

I have to say, I have really been getting into this game over the past few days and find that the animations, ball flow and amount of 1 on 1 isolation moves are fantastic in this game BUT therebounding engine in this game is just plain simplistic and poorly implemented!

First off, the balls will caromb off the rim and hit the floor too much. Offensive players will make no attempts to jump up at the boards to try and attack the ball off the rim or the backboard.....they seam to either quickly clear out or just outright stand in place watching as a shot carombs off the boards or rim simply watching a defensive member come up with the rebound. There is no ball movement around the rim and players fighting for the loose boards to grab at it or tap it in.....This part of the game is severely lacking in an otherwise very polished game

What do you think about this???

Yeah for all the contact and post battling animation that exists, offensive players just sit and watch the show rather than attempt a rebound. I do think the physics are wrong too. Then there's the goaltending. I don't know about anyone else but I am swatting shots of the rim and backboard(FIBA rules style) and getting a block awarded and no call.
(ESPN isn't much better with usually only one defensive player willing to rebound while the others, sometimes closer will watch).

Absolutely agree on both counts. Yes, the game overall is good.

And YES....the rebounding is absolutely horrible.

I put the CPU on crash boards + have edited most players to increased ORB ratings + have the ORD rating at 100...and you still see the CPU hardly get an ORB apart from the odd scrap off the floor.

The problem I am really having is...as I get better at it, I am grabbing 10 + ORB's a game myself.

If I have a good night and get 20...and the CPU gets 2...it kind of wrecks the game. It's too big an advantage for me.

But what can you do? Just not go after the ORB's yorself to make it even?

Yep, I agree with you on the physics..... where are the long rebounds??? You know when someone shoots from 3 and they miss and the ball clangs back 18 feet.... nowhere to be seen.

2 years ago, EA had a problem with too many O-Rebounds in the game; I had games with more O-Rebounds than D-Rebounds. I missed 5 shots in a row sometimes but still got the rebounds.

So in Live 2003, they try to make the D-Rebounds more realistic by dumbing down the Offensive Rebounds AI. Crash Boards in this and Live 2004 will do NOTHING except allow for cheap CPU fastbreaks; that's why I turn my Crash boards off.

EA overdid the defensive rebounding in Live 2003 to make up for the complaints about offensive rebounds. But in reality, the Defensive-Offensive boards ratio should be roughly 5:2. Not 15:1 as you see in the game. There's no need to have a guy with 94 D-Rebounds such as Cato, so I got Slavko Vranes on my team and traded Cato for a better SG/SF.

I mean, its not only bad at the actual statistics being really off in terms of offensive rebounds but the even more disturbing and annoying thing about it is the way in which the game engine animates all of this. There arent even any offensive players going UP for the rebounds. On almost every shot, your teammates will start to clear out and reposition themselves defensively upcourt rather than fighting or attacking the boards in at least an 'attempt' to try and grab the rebound.

Is this fixable in any way with sliders or Playbook settings?

                            Unfortunately, the answer is no.

You can set the CPU to crash boards...but even then it's horrible and all they seem to improve on is trying to get the tip in dunk.

It also really opens it up for way too many easy fast break points if you put the CPU crash boards ON.

Let's hope it...and the rocket passing...is fixed for next year. I'd be happy if they came back with nothing but LIVE 2005 featuring fixed rebounds, double team flaws and game pace.

This is EA though...when one thing dissapears, it seems like always another prob springs up
