I mean, its not only bad at the actual statistics being really off in terms of offensive rebounds but the even more disturbing and annoying thing about it is the way in which the game engine animates all of this. There arent even any offensive players going UP for the rebounds. On almost every shot, your teammates will start to clear out and reposition themselves defensively upcourt rather than fighting or attacking the boards in at least an 'attempt' to try and grab the rebound.

Is this fixable in any way with sliders or Playbook settings?

    Unfortunately, the answer is no.

You can set the CPU to crash boards...but even then it's horrible and all they seem to improve on is trying to get the tip in dunk.

It also really opens it up for way too many easy fast break points if you put the CPU crash boards ON.

Let's hope it...and the rocket passing...is fixed for next year. I'd be happy if they came back with nothing but LIVE 2005 featuring fixed rebounds, double team flaws and game pace.

This is EA though...when one thing dissapears, it seems like always another prob springs up

Rebounding has never been right in the Live series. Because it's essentially the same game engine since 1996, little problems like this never get fixed. I preferred rebounding in Sega's 2k series, until the horrible espn game this year (with its brutal camera angles).

There's nothing that can be done about the rebounding until nba live's engine is scrapped and built from the ground up.

But the thing is, they scrapped the Live 2002 and "built from the ground up" starting with last year's version..... with them almost hitting paydirt with Live 2004, I don't see them scrapping this engine until PS3 days..... they just need to spend the majority of their time working on the rebounding, since they did such a good job with a whole lot of other things.

They did not completely rework the engine after 2002. Coding definitely moved over.
MVP Baseball was a complete coding change. NBA Live was not.
Just listen to the public address announcer - exactly the same phrasing. Code moved over.
                        Especially the awful rebounding code.

That said, I love NBA Live 2004.

Trust me, the code was reworked. Reusing archived announcer speech is meaningless, and independent of source code. It just means they used some of the same audio formats and perhaps some reuse of the audio libraries. Big deal. Just look at the difference in the player models, and the habits of the gameplay. Everything is much different than before. I have also seen how the organization of the data file structure has changed over the years. This is not possible without a complete revamp of some of the code.
